9 "The Beginning of The Storm "

-Tokyo Metropolitan Police Departement-

"Mr. Harada!"

A 46 year old man with sparse stubble and a slightly unkempt appearance turned his head back when he heard someone shouting his name and found a young man in suit running after him.

"Hah... Hah..." The boy was almost out of breath when he reached the man named Harada.

"Hey, boy." He addressed the young detective who looked out of breath.

"Ck, I warned you not to run in the corridor." The senior detective rebuked the junior again.

"I'm not a kid, Mr. Harada! My name is Shota Takagi Please stop calling me boy." Protest the cute and baby-faced junior detective.

"Oh, is that so? Sure, boy." He said with a smile.

"Mr. Harada!" Shouted Shota.

"Okay, okay no offense. So, What in the world happened that made you run like that?"

"Oh, this is about the murder case that happened 3 days ago, in Nakano district." Shota replied as he pulled out some paper sheets from the large envelope he carried.

"We got a report about a suspicious person who was probably the suspect of this murder case." He continued, handing the document to a man named Noburo Harada.

"Hmm, if it's just this, leave it to That guy." Harada said, turning away with a yawn.

"Eh? That guy?" Shota asked rather confused.

"Yeah, That guy." Mr. Harada replied briefly.

"Do you mean that rich, tall, handsome (E/n : heck, I'm cringing adding that 😂) young Detective who is known as the 3-eyed genius?"

"Handsome? Genius? Hahaha ..." He asked with a laugh.

Shota was rather confused with his senior reaction.

"Yes, yes, admittedly that just by seeing that person's look and appearance, he's pretty handsome, and if he's silent, then the handsome genius' nickname can be used. Unfortunately, he's weird."

"Weird?" Shota asked once more in confusion.

"You should have heard rumors about him. Yes, he is a genius and handsome guy that managed to solve many cases, but beyond that, he is also strange. He got extremely narcissistic nature to upset almost everyone in this department, especially those who have to work as his partners. In addition to narcissism, sometimes he talks about nonsensical and out of topic conversation. He likes to act casually and often do things out of command. Although his crazy ideas solved the cases successfully it ended up with myriad of punishment because he disobey superior's order. People said that geniuses are eccentric but this kid is a total weirdo."

"Ehhhhh ??? I just found out that he was like that." Shota's response seemed almost incongruous with the fact he heard.

"But sir, there's something I do not understand." He said with a little hesitation.

"Hm? What?" Mr. Harada asked.

"Ahhh ... About that, you should ask him directly." Harada replied lazily.

"Mr. Harada!" Shota angrily snarled at his senior's lazy attitude.

"Yeah, yeah. Even if you cry here I still won't be able to answer and comprehend how that madman think." Harada replied, looking helpless.

"And where is he now?" Shota asked again.

"Who knows? Maybe he was busy dancing while listening to music in his apartment. (E/n : cringe part 2) He always likes to look fashionable like a model rather than a detective that works at police department."

"But what about Mr. Harada, do you agree with that conclusion?"

"No." He answered shortly.

"Why?" Shota asked innocently.

Mr. Harada's steps halted and he once again looked at the young detective beside him.

Mr. Harada's gaze made Shota feel uncomfortable. He felt as though he had said something wrong!

Mr. Harada continued to stare at Shota for a bit.

"Baka!" [Stupid!] He mocked Shota.

Shota was stunned silence.

"It's true that that boy had sharp intuition, but I hope he's wrong this time!"

Shota just listened to his senior even though he was anxious to ask.

"Why? That's what's in your heart, right?" Guessed Mr. Harada.

"The answer is simple." He continued.

"If what he said was true, then Tokyo will be hit by a major disaster." He explained while looking at the blue sky from behind the window.

Mr. Harada then turned to look at Shota seriously.

"Do you understand what I mean?" He asked with a look that did not have the slightest impression of joking.

Shota got surprised by this senior's change. It was the first time he had seen Mr. Harada looking so serious. There was not the slightest bit of playful and lazy impression as usual .

"If all that has happened so far is a series of heinous and well-organized killing, then you know what the consequences are for us. There will be storms and great threats if that happen!"

The tense atmosphere and the words Mr. Harada said with his serious tone and expression made Shota nervous and scared. He gulped his saliva with a great of difficulty.

Just hearing the worst possibility, Shota already panicked. What else if all that really happened. Let alone that, thinking about and imagining it almost making him vomit due to fear.

He also agreed with Mr. Harada's words. Hopefully that person's intuition turned out to be wrong.

< 'I'm sorry senior, I do not mean to pray for your talent to deteriorate. It's just that your conclusions make others scared, and that thing also sounds crazy! Who wants your speculation to be true? There will not be any sane people who will believe that kind of thing, even if it is a fact!'> Shota's inner self apologizes to that weirdo genius.

Shota shuddered again, considering the possibility of a man who was so intelligent and dangerous had planned a series of outrageously sadistic murders. Made everything seem to be done with different motives and actors. Scary! It's really too scary!

"I hope I don't have to deal with such a case. Do I need to change my career?" He thought silently.

Considering these few months he had to deal with mutilated, burned corpses and or a series of overly sadistic and cruel murder methods, beyond the limits of humanity that no 'normal' person would have thought of.
