7 Werewolf attack

Werewolves like many other species across the earth had evolved over centuries. No longer being limited to the dark of the night for transformation, the furred carnivorous oversized jackal had become their usual form with their weak human side always suppressed.

The Werewolves once lived in the Mera Domain as an inferior species. Their rise in numbers and intellect blinded them to overthrow the Meras to become the Dominant species of the Domain.

A war between both resulted in their defeat and their refusal to remain as an inferior species led them to do the unlawful. They fled the Domain and crossed multiple borders in search of a new Domain to conquer and they eventually did.

Ever since then they would make attacks every few years. They were one of such species willing to defy the Frontera System for selfish gains such as revenge.

Like many Meras Rue had a personal vendetta against them. It wasn't only because they caused the hideous scar on her back, but because her mother was killed by one of their kind. It was during a vile and pointless attack of revenge such as this. Now there was one of those monsters in her territory and a mere six feet away.

"How dare you?" thought Rue to herself as her skin hardened underneath the long sleeves of her uniform. Sharp thick claws projected from her fingers. The lifeless monochrome portraits of her mother flashed before her eyes, as tears began to blur the black-furred creature coming closer from the tall blades of grass.

The dark red from the dying sunset was the only source of light. The lamp posts around were not lit as they usually were at that time of the day, and Rue had a feeling she knew why.

Staring intensely at its face as it emerged from the grass, two large black paws stepped out onto the cleared path. Its growl got louder, its snout curled back to reveal sharp red-stained fangs that became distinct the more she stared at them. Its wide-opened eyes never blinked from her.

The white murk created by its tail to obscure the view of its prey for a surprise attack began to fade as it was now in the open. Luckily for Rue, she was no longer in the mini-forest but in the wide-open cleared paths that led through the low fields leading up to the town.

Rue knew that it would be pointless to create a stealth energy field to hide from the beast before her. It already had her scent and was already aware of her presence.

Was this really happening? Or was she having a nightmare?

Its body-shaking bark ripped through her ears before it pounced at her.

Her heart jumped out of her chest, her tail wrapped tightly around her left leg before she made one powerful leap above its head--and slashed her claws at its back before it passed under her.

Knowing not to turn her back towards it, she turned around the second her feet hit the ground to face its wide opened jaws seconds away from her face.

A tremble ran up her back, she jumped backward barely saving her tummy from being ripped out as its jaws slammed shut.

Just then as she stared above its head, she realized its left ear was already sliced off. Should she attempt to get rid of the other one--would that weaken it? The thoughts flashed through her head.

She kept dodging its mouth and leaping away from it, unable to reach its other ear from how high apart it opened its jaws. Its loud growl clouded her head making it even harder to think. Splashes of saliva hit her first before the stench of metallic blood that reeked from the inside of its mouth.

Luckily her Zunbera-xefi uniform was spacious and light. She managed to kick at its bottom jaw, turning its snout away from her. Then she pressed her feet harder into the ground to jump back even further.

The brief moment it took to turn its focus back to her spared her time to take deep breaths that ripped through her nostrils. A sense of weakness carved into her gut with each breath that left her body.

"Why do I feel so worn out already?" she asked herself. The world around her began to spin and her ears got numb.

From her entire five years of training, never had she gotten so worn out in such a short time. Even worse, she wasn't sweating so it wasn't from exhaustion.

"What's happening to me?"

Her heart began to beat faster at the realization that something out of her control was happening to her body. Her disoriented mind struggled to decide what was more important. The vicious beast before her or the warning signs from her body that something else was wrong.

It didn't attack right away and instead began to circle her from a distance while glaring its red eyes at her. It then stood on its hind legs to rise to a height about Callum's.

With its two front paws up from the ground and now in sight, she noticed something unusual. Its thick black claws had faint traces of a green smear on its tips. Burnt hairless skin showed near its claws for only a glimpse before it leaped at her from its two hind legs.

Its two paws each armed with five green-tipped claws reached for her face within a split second that made her eyes twitch.

It was already too close.

"How," she asked herself before her eyes shut out everything into darkness as if on instinct to help decrease the pain that was to come. Her face hardened even more as it braced for its claws to come ripping through it.

Her hands had barely formed into a fist before its growl went out, something wet splashed across her face and the sound from something heavy hit the ground. The slight vibration from the earth before her feet caused her eyes to rip open to only the top of green grass and parts of the now dimming blue skies before her.

She blinked a few times before the large black blur beneath her eyes caught her attention.

Rue jumped back and almost tripped on her own two legs at the sight of the beast laying on its front--without a head.
