56 Kaneki

To change the world Bastion was willing to hand natural energy to a scientist with little to no morals. Well that was the best kind of scientist in Bastion's opinion. Would the bastard succeed in altering RC cells with natural energy? Bastion doubted it. If it was that easy, Bastion would have done so himself. But he didn't mind attempting to use others to accomplish his goals.

Down stairs he saw the three that saved him. Rize was reading her book. Yomo had a magazine in hand and Touka was texting. Touka looked up and smiled seeing him back to full health. "Are you back to normal?" Touka asked. Bastion tapped a wall and it didn't explode.

"I'm back to complete control. See the hospital is still standing." Bastion said casually. Touka blinked and Rize cracked up.

"So, your saying if you weren't in control the hospital would come tumbling down." Rize said.

"If I didn't have any control at all Tokyo would be gone now. The horrible demon my body imprisons would have broken free and wrecked everything." Bastion said casually. Yomo raised an eyebrow then snorted.

"What happened to give you a concussion anyway?" Yomo asked.

"It was a ten-ton steel beam angled perfectly at my head. Dropped from a ten-story structure. Most people wouldn't have a head after that." Bastion said.

"How durable are you?" Touka yelled. Bastion shrugged his shoulders. He would hate to tell them he wasn't going all out. His chakra wasn't even enhancing him. That was his passive defense.

"Thank you for helping me. I'm going home to sleep the rest of this off. I'll call the two of you in the morning. And thank you sir for driving me to the hospital." Bastion said. Yomo nodded and Bastion leapt into the air vanishing from their sight in a burst of speed. In a few seconds he was home.

The next day he walked into Anteiku and saw Ken Kaneki and Hide. "Ouro I thought this world didn't have Kaneki in it. What's he doing here existing? We aren't in a canon universe, are we?" Bastion asked.

"Processing, no this isn't a canon world. Before we entered the no Kaneki world it swapped places with another world. In this universe Mars has a cash of element zero and mass effect crossover. Oh, well best plan accordingly master." Ouro said. The line was cut. Rize sat down across from him and licked her lips.

"Do you see that shy boy in the corner over there? I think he looks delicious, could you be my wingman please and invite him over here? Tell him something like, I'm shy and can't find the courage to talk to him." Rize said with a giggle. Bastion rolled his eyes and got up.

"Hey, listen my cousin over there is a shy thing and can't help notice you read the same author. Could you do me a favor and take her out on the town. I know I'm asking a lot, but she needs to get out of the house for more than reading. Please, I need alone time in our house. Her music is driving me mad, she refuses to use earbuds in the house." Bastion said. Kaneki looked half way frightened and Hide laughed out loud.

"Hey Kaneki, do the man a favor and ask his cousin out. The universe is practically begging you." Hide said.

"Kaneki blushed a little and went to ask her out. Rize blushed and did her own shy girl routine. The song and dance looked unbelievably fake to his eyes, but Kaneki ate it up. The poor bastard." Bastion took a sip of his coffee and Hide had the gal the ask out Touka.

Touka went into shy wall flower mode and politely said no. Somehow Bastion believed Touka's act more than Rize. It was a difference in how they use it. Rize was sloppy because she could get away with it. He was honestly curious if the beam falling thing would happen again. He would go find Rize in the morning to see what happened.

Kaneki could very well die, and Bastion wouldn't blink. He was having a great time. Once all the humans left besides himself everyone seemed to relax, and the café livened up. He did receive a few glares. That is until Touka revealed her Kagugan to him and he didn't react. He sat down at a table with her and continued drinking his coffee.

"So, he's going to die." Touka said. "You helped her eat one of my best tippers." Touka said. Bastion reached into his wallet and laid down a few large bills at random. "Apology accepted," Touka said easily. "Are you meeting Rize again after she eats Kaneki?" Touka asked.

"Yea, I might but there is also this job I need to get done. I've been building a lasgun and I really should finish it tonight. The focusing crystal and all the custom parts are finished. I was thinking of using it to snipe a few of the FBI's most wanted list." Bastion said.

"I can't tell if your serious or not. That scares me." Touka said.

"Huh, I don't mean to scare you, my brother taught me how to make one a lifetime ago. They are great for killing squishy flesh things that have no sense of self preservation. You know like zombies. I think we should keep a few here, how about I take the staff out to practice drilling with them." Bastion said.

"What if we turned them on the CCG?" Touka asked.

"Then maybe they shouldn't run into laser fire. I guess the stupid die and life goes on." Bastion said. Touka looked around to see if the other patrons were listening in. Bastion pointed to the seals on the table.

"You love that trick. So, what are you and Rize going to argue about tonight." Touka asked.

"More than likely, why she should brush her teeth after eating shy boys like Kaneki." Bastion said and Touka snorted. "No, I was thinking of taking her to see the pier or something. Isn't that what couples do. It all depends on how much effort she's willing to throw in. I'm not going to chase her." Bastion said.

Irimi stepped into their realm of silence then backed up again. She looked at him. "Is this your doing?" She asked.

"I don't like anyone eavesdropping except me." Bastion said.

Irimi sat down at there table and looked at him for a moment. "You are too relaxed around us for your own good. Not everyone is as nice as Touka and surviving Rize was luck. She's just using you." Irimi said.

"You have it backwards. I'm using her for entertainment. Her personality interests me enough to form a relationship with her. Where that relationship goes, I have no clue and that is fun all its own. It's a good lull in training if anything." Bastion said.

"I'm not your mother or Touka, so I can't stop you." Irimi said looking at Touka.

Bastion decided to wait until midnight to text Rize. If she needed saving, then Bastion would help her. If not, then he would go hang out. Kaneki wasn't important to any of his ongoing plans. Dr. Kanou would take time to run his experiments and Bastion had shit to do.

"I'll see you tomorrow Touka, I have to hire some programmers for an app company I'm building, then I need to visit one of my secret bases and check what's running up the power bill." Bastion said.

"Wait seriously, is that what your doing today." Bastion blinked.

"Touka, I'll give you a job if you want but you need more skills than you have. A business degree would help maybe a minor in economics. You could run my Americanos Pizzeria business while I work on building a pharmaceutical company." Bastion said. Touka's mouth gaped for a moment and he pulled her into a hug. "See you next time." Bastion said and released her. Before leaving a blushing Touka behind.

The programmers were easy enough to recruit. While most would choose someone with a degree in computer science or programming, he preferred self-taught. He had a clone issue them a test and reviewed their code, those who met his benchmark were hired on the spot, the ones who nearly made it would be added to his list for future call backs, and the rest were put on a list for rejected numbers. With one of the harder parts finished he went to his base located in the 22nd ward.

His base was under a massive apartment complex he bought a while back. He had a few tenants for appearances sake but didn't make a big deal out of advertising. He hired staff for this place and used them to man the day to day. It was steady income. The apartment came with free Wi-Fi and the rest was included in the rent. Only the apartment was on the grid. Below the place was his hideout.

A single elevator took him down hundreds of feet to the base he sculpted with earth release. He could get here with hiding like a mole, but he enjoyed his elevator. That and this place was covered in seals to protect from earthquakes, nuclear explosions, and in case the sun went out. There was an air filtration system, geothermal energy was drawn from the earth's core, and he even had a small generator powered by heat. This generator was a combination of sealing and turbine technology.

A seal turned the heat into direct kinetic force, turning the turbines, and powering the place much like a nuclear reactor. Seals lowered the amount of space his power generator needed and canceled out the noise. Bastion looked around the cables connecting the power generated to the rest of the base. Nothing was damaged.

Somehow in the transfer from base to apartment complex, he was losing power. About 20% of it was lost and that wasn't good. After his search it was clear that there were no problems with his generator, so someone was stealing power from his building.

It was honestly a head scratcher. Someone was stealing power and a lot of it, so he would have to go deal with them.

It was getting close to midnight and he hadn't managed to find anything that could steal power from his apartment complex. The fact that 20% was stolen was shocking. That was enough to run this ward and then some.

He texted Rize a few times then called only for a nurse to receive the call. He told them he was on his way and the nurse assured him Rize was dead. Bastion ignored the nurse and walked towards Kanou medical.
