58 Gather Intel

Bastion needed to find evidence of the reapers. He wasn't jumping the gun, this ghoul's vs human shit had to go. As little as human life meant to him, it did have some value. While the two strains of humanity fought each other, nothing was getting done. Sure, their weapons against one another kept getting better. Kakuja were appearing more frequently and quinque kept getting better. There were no plans for space travel any time soon. Humanity it seemed was happy to fight itself to extinction. So, like a father Bastion was going to have to pull humanity into the future and treat it like an unruly child. As much as a chore this was going to be, Bastion still loved having something to do.

As far as Bastion knew there were no reapers on earth, or if there were it would be too damaged to matter. Then again, he had seen stranger things. The fact there aren't a bunch of husks running rampant was a good sign there was nothing here, but he wasn't certain.

Mars was supposed to contain information on element zero or possibly element zero itself. He wasn't 100% on the lore and alternate universes rarely held all the same facts. This problem was ever present in his thoughts and wouldn't go away.

This gave him little choice, he would have to go to mars. That would be an undertaking. He wasn't Elon Musk. Bastion had to use Genjutsu to get past most government regulations and he didn't have anyone from the US to Genjutsu. Then again would America care if Japan started a space program.

He needed to get rid of a lot of government if he wanted to do this. The focus of society isn't on the stars, its on the society. More to the point its on ghouls, complaining about people wanting more free shit, and why aren't the ghouls dead already. Thoughts of constructing a mercenary army or a cult came to mind.

Bastion had access to plenty of technologies. He could make a Gellar field generator, a psychic dampener, lasguns, powerpacks, and various engines. The problem was, he didn't know how they worked, he only knew how to make them. Bastion couldn't improve upon something he didn't understand. He needed physicists, engineers, and lots of money to throw at them. Just as his app company has surpassed its infancy and began making a profit, it was time to build another company. Tax season would come, and he knew he was going to get fucked hard by the government.

The thoughts of massive taxes were swept from his mind by an avalanche of joy from being home. He preferred to let sleeping dogs lie and procrastinate until the end. After taking off his coat and exiting the elevator he found Rize on their couch.

The Roomba was smearing guts all over the floor. Over in the corner was a stack of bodies easily as tall as his waist. A few were still struggling. Bastion felt a hint of his former humanity rise and he began leaking killing intent. Rize was watching a cooking show while chomping on some poor bastards' leg.

"I thought, I told you not to eat anyone down here?" Bastion said. She turned her neck still chewing a hunk of meat.

"Its so easy to lure people in this ward. I should have found a hide away sooner, this is great. Look I have seconds, thirds, and fourths all to myself." He pick pocketed the key card and pulled her over his lap. Then he proceeded to spank her rear until she stopped giggling and yelled out in pain.

When he stopped he could feel the heat pouring off her bottom. She brought her hands back and winced in pain. The red hand prints slowly faded leaving behind pale clear skin. She opened her mouth to say something then leapt on him beating, biting, and kicking. Bastion bound her arms in one hand and her legs in the other. Her kagune were next to strike and he surprised her by calling upon his cloak. He flipped on his sharingan and copied her kagune by hardening and stretching his chakra. If RC cells could be as flexible as blood and hard as teeth, then his chakra far outstripped that.

She seemed shocked when green tentacles emerged from his back and held down her tentacles. It was rather interesting seeing how her kagune worked and replicating it. She glared at him and started biting his nose. Rize could crush it between her teeth as hard as she wanted, it wasn't going to hurt his nose.

Now it was a battle of wills who would give in to the other first. Bastion waited an hour glaring at her. Eventually, he saw it her will broke.

"Fine, I'll leave bye." Rize said. Bastion didn't move. He just looked at her like she was retarded. Never easing on his grip.

Time carried on and she slumped in place. "I'm sorry for making a mess and leaving corpses on the floor that was rude of me." Bastion nodded and let her up. "Can I still stay here?"

"I never wanted you to leave, but my word is law especially in my home." Bastion said. He hoped she would learn from this mistake and they would continue their relationship. If not oh, well.

"How did you do that, make a kagune? I've seen your test results you have less than a RC cell rating of 100." Rize asked.

"The same way I do everything. My body has its own energy. I just made it look like a kagune." They remained in silence for a while, Rize kept looking over to the half-eaten leg on the coffee table oozing blood. "Go ahead, I'll have to wash my games and moves now anyway. So, who was stealing power." Bastion asked.

Rize waved to the pile of bodies before grabbing the leg. "Well they are a cult worshipping some dried-up old corpse in their basement. They found one of your power lines and decided to steal from you. Apparently, they've fallen on hard times and needed to save money somewhere." Bastion rolled his eyes at the stupidity.

He stood up and rolled his shoulders. "Show me where it is. We might as well see if there is anything to the corpse."

The building next door was boarded up and lined with steel shutters. "How did you find out about them?" Bastion asked.

"One of my meals was one of their day guards. He's been there long enough to learn a few things." Rize said. Bastion nodded and kicked their door in. Machine guns started firing on him and he flared, and he created a few mud clones to charge their cover. Rounding a corner, he swatted grenades back at their owners. The resulting explosion barely rocked the building. More machine gun nests blocked each corner as they rounded them. Rapid great fire ball jutsu turned the nests into slag and the guards into charcoal.

Then they found a set of stairs leading down into total darkness. Taking a few flashlights from the dead guards they lit their way down. Once they descended the stairs, a reinforced steel shutter blocked them off. Red eyes flashed all around them. Rize took out her kagune but these weren't ghouls.

Vampires, legendary monsters that thrist for blood. Like ghouls they have red eyes, prey on humans, and have abilities that surpass humanity. Weakness they aren't known for their durability, garlic, sunlight, and running water. That is the classical weaknesses anyway. In some worlds vampires have practically no weaknesses. In other worlds vampires can eventually overcome their weaknesses in some way. Without knowing the origin of these creatures, he needed to remain catious. They could be all as strong as Alucard for all he knew.

Bastion never found evidence of these creatures in all his research. That was because they weren't from this world. Far away in a coffin was his brother. Though, they have never met, he sensed their connection. Which meant that these vampires were his nieces and nephews in a way.
