61 Aftermath part 1

It was a city on fire, there was nothing good about it. Everywhere he looked there were flames. The screams of men, women, and children joined the sound of the impotent rain. They joined in a macabre symphony, a sound like a dog scratching at the doors of his house of sanity. For a moment he regretted his actions. Bastion knew he shouldn't play with his brother, he should have ended him immediately. He chose not to, Bastion had all the power to defeat his brother immediately. But no, he wanted to study and learn. If he had gained anything, some new incite or power, Bastion could claim it was worth the collateral. Sadly, he couldn't claim such a thing.

He looked up at the helicopter it barely remined in the air. Its bullet proof windows were cracked or destroyed. Rain assaulted the people within but instead of landing somewhere safe, they fought to keep their camera on him. Bastion watched them for a moment before vanishing from their view in a burst of speed.

After appearing in an alleyway, he dropped his transformation and forms. In his base form, he felt good the battle had loosened him up. It wasn't his fault that his brother was a prick.

Speaking of his brother, the bastard was still alive. Whether it was the beast's instincts or Vittorio's hidden will to survive, he didn't know. But he could sense his brother's life force slowly increasing. If his brother reached full power, Bastion would need RC cells built for him. Perhaps becoming an artificial ghoul wasn't a bad idea. If he could get healing like Vittorio's, he could push his planet eating skills to a new level.

Dr. Kanou couldn't be trusted for such a procedure without a lot of Genjutsu. Speaking of which, maybe now was a good time to pay the old man a visit before checking in on Touka and them.

He approached Kanou medical with his natural appearance. Dr. Kanou nearly ran into him as Bastion was walking in. The older man smiled pleasantly at seeing him. "Ah, if it isn't my friend, what can I do for you?" The doctor asked pleasantly.

"I apologize for disturbing you doctor, is it your lunch break?" Bastion asked.

"Yes, actually I planned to eat with a few colleagues if you have time you could join us. We can talk in my car." Dr. Kanou said. Bastion nodded and followed the doctor.

The good doctor drove a Toyota Supra Bastion wasn't a car guy but even he thought about buying one. Sure, he was saving for a new business, and Dr. Kanou was the guy he was going to go to for his pharmaceutical advice. Then there was the fact that a light jog for him was 20x faster than this car's full speed. But it was the sleek look of the red sports care that attracted him not its speed.

"You have great taste in cars I'll give you that much doctor." Bastion said with a polite smiled. The doctor nodded his head and started the car.

"I noticed despite owning several companies you don't buy much for yourself. Most call you eccentric. A few members of Algeri Tree have investigated your profile. There have been extensive plans to extort your finances. Especially after you gave sanctuary to Rize Kamishiro." Dr. Kanou said.

"Should I leave you a shadow clone for protection. As useful as Algeri is for the advancement of mankind, if they overstep I'm not opposed to disciplining them. I fought my brother in the 22nd ward last night. You must have saw on the news." Bastion said.

"I had a rather extensive surgery during most of it, it ran for ten hours. I saw the highlights afterward. How far away are we from that?" Dr. Kanou asked. Bastion thought about it for a while.

"I would say, not as far as you think, it would be easier to reach that level of power than directly duplicating my feats. Maybe, a hundred years if we build a powerful foundation for human advancement now. If we don't set humankind up for success, then it will never reach that level. Think of the now as picking out the right schools for to set humanity up for a bright future." Bastion said.

"What would you say the odds are of reaching your current power? None of the green hair, or the glowing." Dr. Kanou said.

"My base with no power ups or techniques. I'm only around 3 times as strong as a kakuja ghoul. If I became an artificial ghoul, well just multiply a normal ghoul by 9 and that would be my new power." Bastion said. "After all a ghoul is merely a human with a kakuhou and lots of RC cells."

"Kaneki seems to be successful. He has bounded to Rize's kagune more thoroughly than anyone I've ever seen. When I add the omni material, I've dubbed it omni gel for its pure transformative properties. I've added it to a patre dish of RC cells taken from multiple ghouls. The RC cells replicate in the substance rapidly and mutate in unpredictable ways. Some form crystalline structures and others seem to form a pseudo kakuhou. More study is needed, I have need of assistants, fellow doctors, and more resources. Could I trouble you for some funding?" Dr. Kanou finished.

"Yes, I'll help you out where I can. Tell me what kind of budget you need, and I'll make an account for you. I've thought of creating a pharmaceutical company. I have plenty of start up capital, could you point me towards some people who could run it. The 22nd ward needs some new life after the great fire. I'm sure a new business could help." Bastion said.

"Never waste a disaster huh. Alright, I'll give you some contacts, and email you the amount I'll need. What do you hope to gain out of this?" Dr. Kanou asked.

"I need more power. Vittorio survived and is growing stronger at a rapid pace. In a day he will be stronger than me, in a week I'll stand no chance. I need to improve my body. A kakuhou built for me evolved with powerful natural energy is a start. I'll have to evolve it into a kakuja immediately. I doubt I'll have to worry about round 2 for a while. I've satisfied Vittorio's adrenaline fix for a while. He almost died." Bastion said.

The pulled up at a rather expensive restaurant. It was the type of place that doctors, judges, and other political officials went to. Bastion felt out of place a throwback to his mortal life. He was never much more than a poor man struggling to get by.

He listened to the conversation between the doctors only long enough to be polite. After the initial greetings and occupational announcements, the doctors ignored him. Dr. Kanou seemed to get nervous at that. It was interesting how the went on about surgical procedures that Bastion couldn't care less about. Bastion was skilled at surgery with chakra, that could hardly compare with the skills needed to keep someone alive while surgically removing a tumor analog.

Bastion decided to listen and keep tabs on these people.
