376 Losing You (2)

Adrienne was startled awake by the explosion. At first, she was disoriented; then, it dawned on her that she was lying in Lennox's arms. She must have fainted from the shock and the resulting lack of blood in her brain. Now that she was awake, she could feel the pain from the bump on her head. After the initial shock wore off, she was aware that Adrienne wasn't moving enough to get blood to her brain.

"Adrienne? Can you hear me?" Lennox asked worriedly.

Adrienne nodded weakly, trying to push herself up from Lennox's arms. She winced in pain, and Lennox quickly helped her sit upright.

"I'm fine," she said, trying to reassure him. "Just a little dizzy. Where's Val?"

Lennox glanced at Hunter, seeing him put Valerie on the stretcher before allowing the medic to check on her.

"She's with your brother. The medic is checking her stats right now."

Lennox looked at her, concern still etched on his face.
