Understanding

Once Vergil was done eating, he put out the fire and put the remaining organs that he hadn't eaten into his bag. Vergil put on his bag and made his way over to Ryujin Jakka. Although Vergil knew that weapons that belonged to [The Ultimate Weapon] branch, were indestructible, he was still afraid that he might have burnt Ryujin Jakka.

Vergil made sure to inspect every little detail of Ryujin Jakka. After he was done, he had found no burn marks or scratch marks. Vergil sighed with relief, as the thought of his only weapon somehow becoming unusable, crossed his mind.

Vergil picked up Ryujin Jakka and put it inside his backpack along with the organs. Since the backpack wasn't big enough, Vergil had to leave his backpack open to let Ryujin Jakka rest comfortably. Once Vergil had packed everything up and prepared himself, he felt ready. He wasn't sure what he felt ready for, but he knew that the upcoming events would be some of the most important since he had come into this world.

Vergil set out from the cave, making sure to mark it so if he ever came back, he would know the cave was safe to sleep and live in. Vergil walked for a bit as he made his way over the wolf furs he had previously left untouched. The reason why Vergil didn't bring the furs along with him to the cave, was because they were still dirty with blood and Vergil didn't have enough time to go back to the stream and clean them.

Now that it was morning though, Vergil decided that it was for the best to take all of them and clean them up before making some armor out of them. He took the wolf furs and put them over his back, as he made his way to the stream. It took him far less time to find it as Vergil had somewhat memorized his surroundings. From the somewhat smaller than average spruce tree, to the tree that had a surprising amount of holes in it.

Along the way, Vergil also found trees that had huge holes in them. Vergil knew that these trees had become broken because of his actions with [The Ultimate Weapon], and promised that he would one day give back to the forest. Finally making his way over to the stream, Vergil started cleaning the wolf furs as he once again saw the blood flow all the way downstream. Once he was done, Vergil lay the wolf furs down, making sure they faced the sun directly so they could dry up, and rested his head, as he enjoyed the smell of nature.

Vergil was tempted to use his meditate skill since this was almost a perfect environment for it, but decided against it, as the burning he had felt when he had entered the blank space, came back to his mind like a high-speed bullet. After lazing around for a bit, Vergil finally got up and inspected the wolf furs he had left to dry. He felt them and was pleased with the result, as they were completely dry and ready for wearing.

Although Vergil had always been thinking about turning the wolf fur into armor, in reality, he had no idea how to even start. He suspected that there had to be some kind of book in the system that allowed him to learn how to make armor, but then he remembered he needed SP for a bow and arrows. Sighing, Vergil put the thoughts of making the wolf fur into armor to the side.

Although Vergil was a bit reluctant at first, he finally decided to just buy the bow and arrows. Although his arm was still broken and storage was becoming a problem, he decided to put all that aside and make his main goal finishing the missions. If he could finish the missions, not only would he get cool rewards such as a new Ultimate Weapon form, but he would also get SP, which he desperately needed right now.

Vergil made his way over to the store where he proceeded to type in, [Basic Bow and Arrows]. Vergil subconsciously remembered that the store had a lot of items and chose to ignore it, as he continued to browse through the seemingly endless options. Eventually, Vergil came across a nice set, simply named [Purple Bow with Purple Arrows and Quiver], it lived up to its name as the bow and arrows were both covered in purple.

Ignoring the color, Vergil immediately bought the item as it not only had arrows but it also only cost 25 SP! A bargain! Once bought, the set appeared once again from seemingly nowhere and landed in front of Vergil. Vergil inspected the bow for a bit before trying to use it. He tried all he could but to no avail, as he couldn't even use his right arm to put the arrow in properly.

Vergil stared at his right arm and the set for a bit before letting his emotions run wild and throwing the bow onto the ground, almost breaking it in the process. "GODAMMIT! WHY AM I SO UNLUCKY! I THOUGHT THAT AFTER COMING TO THIS WORLD THINGS WOULD CHANGE, BUT NOOOOO SOME RANDOM WOLVES HAD TO COME OUT OF NOWHERE AND ATTACK ME! WHY DOES THE WORLD HATE ME? I DON'T REMEMBER EVER DOING ANYTHING THAT WOULD MAKE IT TREAT ME LIKE THIS!" Vergil screamed out his remarks at the forest that remained quiet all throughout.

Vergil thought for a moment before stating, "That...That's right...It isn't the world that's ruining my life...IT'S THIS BASTARD SYSTEM! I THOUGHT THAT SYSTEMS WERE SUPPOSED TO HELP OUT THE USER, NOT BE MONEY HUNGRY! ALL THAT ITS DONE THROUGHOUT MY JOURNEY IS TREAT ME LIKE A USELESS SPECIMEN...LIKE AN EXPERIMENT! WAIT THAT'S RIGHT… I BET THE GODDESS HAS NEVER DONE THIS SORT OF THING BEFORE, I BET MY LIFE THAT I'M THE FIRST THAT'S EVER RECEIVED A SYSTEM. YES, THAT'S RIGHT, THAT'S PROBABLY WHY I HAVE SUCH A TRASH SYSTEM!" Vergil spoke with more and more passion as he continuously blamed the system for his downfall.

Although in his previous life Vergil was normally calm, what he was facing right now was like nothing he had ever experienced before. He had been bombarded with downfalls wherever he went. The fact that he couldn't use the bow, even after spending all his SP on it, had simply become the last straw. Vergil continued for a while, bombarding the system and even the goddess with insults as he was becoming delirious from his own words.

Eventually, Vergil could speak no more, as his voice had become hoarse from all the shouting. He sat down with his head on his knees and began to cry. He once again was reminded of how much he missed his old life. Even though he was regarded as an otaku, and was not very good looking, he would still pay anything to go back to his old life.

Not only that, but Vergil hated this new lifestyle. Back in his previous world, Vergil had all the luxuries of a modern-day world. Just the fact that he had to live in a forest eating the random organs of creatures, made Vergil shudder. Vergil sat there for a while, crying to himself, as the sun shone down on him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[So it finally happened ey. I didn't expect you to break down so early but I guess it's only expected from you huh.]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vergil, not surprised by the system notification, chose to ignore it and continued to cry.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Honestly, I don't think you realize how lucky you are. Not only did you receive me with all these various features, you also received that awesome weapon, that even I'm a little jealous of.]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vergil continued to cry before speaking, "What...what do you know? You always...put things behind paywalls...and always treat me like trash. You're…not helpful...in the slightest." Vergil continued to cry as he was a somewhat sensitive boy and remembered all the "mean" things the system had done to him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Heh, you sure change your mood quickly ey? I remember just a while ago you also said some mean things to the wolf you had killed but guess you forgot about that too. You've forgotten about a lot of things huh? Like the fact that the goddess gave you 3 extra wishes, free of charge. If that isn't favoritism then I don't know what is.]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vergil looked up from his knees as if he was talking to someone and said, "Favoritism?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Yes, favoritism, the goddess saw something special in you and gave you 3 wishes along with a free one. Also, you seemed to of forgotten something very important.]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vergil, confused by what he had forgotten, decided to ask, "What is so important that even you, regard it as important?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Simple you seem to have forgotten that the goddess is currently watching over you, as we speak.]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vergil immediately remembered what the goddess had said to him before he embarked into this new world and immediately became embarrassed. Embarrassed at the fact that he had shown the beauty this pitiful side of him. But deep within Vergil's heart, he also became happy. Happy at the fact that the goddess had seen his epic battle against the wolves.

Vergil slowly got up and dusted himself off. He stared at the bow on the ground before picking it back up. He pointed it to the sky and with a shout said. "THANK YOU, GODDESS, THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS WATCHING OVER ME!" Although Vergil was a little flustered by his actions, he didn't back down and continued his stance for a bit before his left arm became tired.

He put down the bow and stared at it, before changing his attention to the stream, as if it would solve all his problems. "Thank you, goddess, and as much as I hate to admit it, thank you system. Thank you for watching over me, and making sure I'm within the right state of mind. From now on I promise to not let your expectations for me fall, goddess, I promise I'll achieve great things in this world and make you proud!"

Picking up Ryujin Jakka, Vergil lifted it into the air and this screamed with all his might, "TO THE GODDESS THAT SHOWED ME HOPE, I PROMISE I'LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU SOMEDAY!"

With that done, Vergil put down Ryujin Jakka, and once again rested on the soft soil. Now that his ambition had been realized, Vergil became a lot calmer. Letting the sun, bathe him with its rays, Vergil lay there, falling asleep not so long after.
