THE NEXT DAY. . . . . . . . . .
And, the young men are woken up yet again by the sound of the gong. Unlike the other young men, who go outside to see where the noise is coming from, Taeyang and Miyoung get ready quickly and rush out to the courtyard just as the other young men are rushing back to get ready.
Seeing the same two young men who are first to get ready, the Eunuch just directs them to the task..
"Today your task concerns martial arts. You'll go to the courtyard on the left after you've left this courtyard. Good luck."
"Thank you sir!" Miyoung shouts over her shoulder as she and Taeyang rush to be the first ones to complete their tasks.
When they arrive at the courtyard, the two find stacks of wooden boards.
"You think we gotta break them all?" Miyoung asks as she rolls up her sleeves.
"Uh-huh." Taeyang grunts.
An eunuch greets them.
"Good Morning. Just as you two guessed, you must each break one stack of wooden boards."
Miyoung and Taeyang look at each other and shrug.
"No sweat," Taeyang says.
"Easy peasy," Miyoung agrees.
They both back up, and get a running start.
Running towards the wooden boards, the two jump up and slam their fist into the wooden boards.
All the wooden boards break with a single punch.
Miyoung dusts herself off.
"That was easy. Right bro?"
"Yep," Taeyang says as he dusts himself off as well.
The eunuch gapes.
[They each broke a stack with just one punch???????]
"Well then, we'll be off. Would you mind telling us where the test for becoming a Hwarang is being held?"
"It's being held at the same courtyard as yesterday." The eunuch says.
"Thanks, sir," Miyoung says. "Have a good day, we'll be going now."
"Have a good day. . . ." the eunuch says.
As the duo runs to the next courtyard, Miyoung asks, "Should we take our horses? Because the courtyard is quite from this one. . . ."
"Good idea, brother! Let's go get our horses."
The two skid to a stop in front of the stable. They whistle, and their horses run out from the stable. They hop onto their horses and urge them into a gallop.
"Hya, Gosaeng. Hya."
They arrive at the courtyard in a matter of minutes.
Tying their horses to the same post, they enter the courtyard.
"I wonder what our task will be today. . ." Miyoung says.
When they enter the courtyard they see tables set out. The duo greets the eunuch then they take a seat at a table.
"Today," the Eunuch says, "You'll write a song."
Miyoung and Taeyang glance at each other.
"Can we choose whatever we want to write about?" Taeyang asks.
"Yes," the Eunuch says, "And, if you want, you can work together."
Miyoung sighs in relief.
Then, Miyoung gets an idea. She taps Taeyang on the shoulder, and whispers in his ear.
"That's a great idea bro!"
"I know," Miyoung says.
The duo in a matter of seconds has completed their song.
"We're done with our song!"
The eunuch nods, "Now sing it."
Taeyang shoves the paper into Miyoung's hands, "Love you bro! But, I'd rather not sing."
Miyoung sighs, then clears her throat.
"Ahem. Ahem. So, our song is about food. Yeah.
Mouth watering, so triggering. Oh yeah
Everyday rice gives me a pleasant feeling
Kimchi gives me a reason of living
Noodles are delicious
And cakes are so precious
And food, yeah food.
Gives me a reason to enjoy life
And all its wonders
'Cause food is great in all its splendor
And food, oh food.
It fills my stomach, and it fills yours
It just means so much more to me
And it gives me a reason to breathe."
The Eunuch just shakes his head, "You two pass. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Thank you sir," Taeyang says. "Thanks bro. You saved me there."
"Uh-huh," Miyoung grunts grumpily.
"Let's go eat bro!"
And, Taeyang drags, literally drags Miyoung to the cafeteria to eat lunch.
ON THE VIEWING BALCONY. . . . . . .
"OH MY GOODNESS!!! Fourth Brother, isn't that song hilarious. Man, you have to really love food to write a song about it."
"If one of us princes to write a song about food, it would be First Brother."
"Hey, Second Brother don't expose me!!!"
"What? It's true isn't it!?"
"Yeah . . . ."
