2 Rebirthed with Second chance (Edited)

A man in his mid 40's passes back and forth in the hall of a mansion with a worried expression on his face. He was anxious in his heart, his forehead wrinkled in concern and there was even a drop of sweat due to anxiety. He kept staring at a closed-door as if he could see through it.

"Is she awake?"

A 23-year old young man with silver hair also stood outside the closed door watching the older man pace. Although he had no resemblance to that older gentleman, the strict air that surrounded the two of them showed that they had a close bond. The younger man responded with an uneasy tone: "The Doctor will be here soon to check on her."

The 'her' that the two of them were referring too had suddenly fainted at her own birthday party for no known reason. Both men were bothered about her sudden spell, but the younger one was able to hide his emotions better behind his stone face while the older gentleman displayed his worry through his pacing. The younger man had a look of coldness and cruelty in his eyes that coupled with his pessimistic attitude, it made him look even colder as he thought about the situation.

The door suddenly opened and the two men quickly turned to see who was coming out. Startled at being on the receiving end of two ferocious gazes, a maid was startled and almost slammed the door shut in their faces.

Barely able to suppress her urge, the maid exited the room and shut the door behind her. "Forgive me, Old Master and Younger Master. Our Young Miss has requested not to be disturbed at this moment."

The older man, who was the master of this mansion, asked in concern, "Is she awake??? She is awake!!! How is she doing?? Is she alright?"

Before he could ask any more questions, a voice travelled through the closed door and the three people standing out in the hall could hear the soft, silky voice of a young girl.

"Daddy? Is that you?"

Upon hearing his little princess's voice, the older man rushed into the room. It was dim inside the room, the white lace curtains were closed, blocking out most of the light. The room itself was extremely large, the king-sized bed that was placed against one wall did not even take up half of the room. There was still space for a couch and table on the other side of the room and a desk with a chair that was located in front of the window. Most of the fabric in the room including the bedsheet and throw blanket on the couch were various shades of purple, the owner of the room's favourite color.

Looking around the room to spot his daughter, the older man quickly saw her propped up against the white puffy headboard of the bed. Rushing over to the side of the bed, the old man could see a young girl with a pale face looking back at him with big doe-like eyes.

"Little Wan, are you alright? You scared my poor soul, honey," the old man said as he sat down on the side of the bed where a small chair had been placed. The father gently picked up his daughters' right hand and clutched it as if he could express his fear and relief with only that one hand gesture.

On seeing her father's unconditional love, Yue Wan's eyes teared up without restraint.

"Sorry, Daddy. I am so sorry," her voice cracked as she threw herself into his arms and started crying.

Neither her father nor the young man that followed him into the room had ever seen her crying before. They all were quite shocked, "It's ok, it's ok! Don't cry, my child. Who hurt you? Tell Daddy, and I will kill them all."

The young man who had walked towards the couch to sit down looked at the father and daughter on the bed. 'Is that really Little Wan?' he asked himself, confused over the change in her attitude.

Sensing the gaze of her big brother, she turned to look at him.

"Big Brother," she whispered.

Yue Xiang knew that his stepsister had never approved of him since she had found out that he was not her biological brother, and yet, right now, she looked at him with melancholy in her eyes and called him 'big brother'.

"Father, let's get Doctor Bai over to take a look at her and make sure that Little Wan is alright," Yue Xiang suggested.

"Daddy, I just felt tired because I was so excited about the party to the point that I could barely sleep last night. All I want to do now is to sleep. I am fine, so there is no need to bother Doctor Bai," Yue Wan gave a lazy yawn and rubbed her sleepy eyes.

She understood what had happened today, but she didn't want her father and brother to find out before she could come up with a plan.

Looking at her tiredness, Yue Xiang stood up from the couch and walked over to his father. Patting his father on the back, he gestured for Yue Yeager to leave the room with him so they could have a discussion away from Yue Wan. Understanding his son's gesture, Yue Yeager said goodnight and left the room, but, before leaving, Yue Wan's father, Yue Yeager ordered the servants to take good care of his precious daughter.

Making sure she was all alone, Yue Wan moved to the makeup table on the other side of the couch by the walk-in closet and stared at the mirror in bewilderment. The memories of her death flashed through her mind, and a shadow passed over her face. She touched her face in the mirror and watched as the image in the mirror touched its face too. Seeing her face as it once was, her eyes swelled up in tears.

'I never thought I would get a second chance.'

She cupped her face in the palm of her hands and silently cried in relief.

'I can change what will happen. I can repent my past actions and make sure I never cause any harm to those that love me. I don't want to walk down the same path again. This time, I will make sure that those animals will pay for what they've done before.'

She was happy that she was able to come back to her 16-yr-old self. If she remembered it correctly, she had returned to the day that she was drugged by those two. Their plan was for her to act like a madwoman before everyone at the party so that her big brother would have to take responsibility for her actions and be blamed for everything in the end. Yue Wan had made countless reckless actions due to the influence of that pair which created discord within her own family.

Big brother Yue Xiang had warned her again and again about those two, but her stubbornness had led her to do evil things against those who loved her more than anything. She still remembered when he promised to get justice for her after she was drugged and knocked out.

"Big brother, I am so very sorry," she muttered with a dry voice.

As for her Daddy, after he had found out about her drug addiction, he had a mild heart attack. However, because of her egotistical attitude, she didn't take it into consideration. After that, she repeatedly disgraced the family time and again, which had made him suffer a lot. The things that she had done in her past life had finally led him to his death.

This time though, things were going to be different. She wouldn't let those things happen again. She would make sure that this time, her father was healthy and enjoy a long life of happiness.

'But will big brother ever forgive me? I've hurt him a lot over the past few years.'

"Because of me, he. ....." Her voice broke as she forced herself to hold back the tears.

She looked up at the ceiling and took a deep breath.

"Crying won't solve everything, and I need to prepare for war. First, I need to kick the spies in Yue mansion out. Unfortunately, most of the servants here are all loyal to the Li family and the Wei family. Because they don't know who their masters should be, I need to get rid of them. After that, I need to find a way to cancel my engagement with that man. I will never let the shameless Li Family leech off my family's reputation and status. Maybe I should talk to big brother, he will know what to do in order to cancel the engagement. However, before that, I have to clear up the bad impressions that everyone has about me."

After sorting out her thoughts, Yue Wan walked back to her bed and climbed in. Hiding her head under the covers, she sighed to herself. She was such a disappointment. Suddenly, she flung off the covers and jumped out of bed. She had just remembered that after the birthday party, she was admitted into the hospital for a drug overdose. It was only because her father hid what had happened from the public that no one found out about it.

"Has my rebirth changed certain events?"

After puzzling it over for a while, she remembered that she had felt dizzy before she even got a chance to have a sip of the drink that was drugged. It was Wei Wan that had brought it over and handed it to her. Wei Wan was probably part of the plan, but she was just too stupid in the past to realize it.

'This means that I did not ingest the drink that was laced with drugs. That means that I won't become addicted to any drugs as a result of this incident.'

She took a deep breath, crawled back into bed for the third time and stare at the canopy overhead.

"In the past, I was not good at strategizing, but now, things have changed. I will hunt them down one by one and make sure that they get everything they deserve."

In the dim light of her room, a cold aura started to seep out from her and fill the room. In this life, she would take vengeance for the grievances of her past and for the little one that could not be borne.
