The Motherless Child (2)

As they stopped to the spot below the hole that conjured light, Gloathiac was filled with consternation, "You nodded when I pointed at that hole right? Then how can we go there?"

The hole was 13 meters above them.

Before he acquired an answer, Camie's body suddenly lighted up.

Bright white lights radiated from her body, illuminating the dark place and showing the appearance of a lost long grand hall: broken walls, cracked floor, crumbled pedestals, traditional frames and paintings, and destroyed furniture.

Gloathiac was dazed by her outward appearance, as he uncontrollably muttered "An angel?"

Camie's form looked as if she had descended from the heavens, she was floating in the air. The white lights made her looked pure and untainted, and it gave a holy and sacred aura. Her striking appearance made her even more otherworldly.

She pulsated elements that Gloathiac was deeply familiar.

"No, this is holy element! I- I can't believe it. Am I not the only who is different… who awakened our innate element at our current age?" Gloathiac surged with strong emotions.

The ground suddenly shook, a platform rose up to two meters.

Gloathiac was unperturbed by the sudden turmoil of balance. He eyed Camie who was concentrating at her own activity, with her large eyes closed.

Golden glyph formed in his pupils, moving circularly with deeply profound sensations. It suddenly activated once he captured the sight of the current Camie. He perceived her appearance even of the blinding light she ejected out Inside his vision, an intangible pair of angelic wings gently flapped behind the girl's back that helped her float, seemingly an illusion.

Swiftly, the formed glyph in his eyes vanished.

The light that Camie was giving out, was slowly absorbed by the square shaped platform. Until, everything became dark as it was supposed to be. But it only lasted a moment before the platform suddenly surged out again with white lights.

The brilliant radiance no longer came from Camie but the platform instead.

From the given light, two tangible female angels were slowly manifested. They absorbed it, making their form and figure sublime. They were fully white and their parts were covered by thin sheet of cloth. It's their turn now to bring out effulgence, covering the place holy.

Camie's eyes opened, her expression was exhausted. Before she collapsed, Gloathiac held her in his arms, their gazes peering with each other: one listless and the other in concern.

"Are you alright?" Gloathiac spoke in worry.

Ultimately, Camie felt asleep.

Gloathiac looked above the hole and after next which, he observed both of the angels. They seemed to be white statues, but they were flexible as humans were. Their captivating features should not belong from this world, they were far the most beautiful he had ever seen.

They graciously soared at the air and opened their wings wide. Gloathiac was astonished by the sight: the loftiness of an angel. Then they glided down and gently grabbed both of them. As Camie was in Gloathiac's embrace, the angels intertwined with each other, their hands together and circling both of them.

Without a moment, they dashed in the air, entering into the hole and continued to float towards the skies. It was as if two mothers gently hugged two children, mildly rotating as they soared.

Wind bashed at them and Gloathiac filled a coat of barrier around Camie. Whereas, he felt everything and accustomed himself to the joy of the current experience. His sheen clothes fluttered by the bellowing wind, his hair danced erratically.

As they escaped from the hole, there were still vertical aged walls, seemingly infinite as it continued to stretch. Seconds ticked by, there were spaces from the corner of the walls that he could finally see everything from the outside.

Gloathiac concluded that the vertical walls were just parts of some buildings amidst the numerous structures out of his sight. The splendor of the festival scattered across everything, giving out brilliant lights from its banners, lanterns and some hanging orbs.

His lips curled into a smile of amazement and his eyes enlarge in wonder. The pale light slipped from the spaces into him and showed his expression.

As they continued to fly, the south large wall had met its limit. It came out a view of a towering building, with opulent designs and giving the most celebrated atmosphere to the festival. The banner of a mythical beast in its massive girth, were gleaming to its art's outline and striking out eye-catchingly.

Many walls at his north and east, were pulling out of his vision one by one. They had their own different and unique style of refulgence, enlivening the city.

The only wall that continued to stick was at his west. The full moon bathed everything with pale light and covered the remaining vertical wall as it continued to tower on the littered clouds and pierced it.

They shot at it and the air compression of the clouds hit at them. Until, the angels carrying them finally stopped, hovering on the highest altitude with a standing pole of the curved structure at its middle. It seemed that the building had also reached the limit of its height.

The angel's wings widely opened, then flapped back as they lowered their descent on two runic chairs that held at the air, and slowly placing them to sit.

They gave last warm smiles before they dispersed into white smoke, and flowed in the air.

Below them, the clouds at their legs slightly drifted in a specific direction and the supposedly large structures became small at the bottom. Sparkling lights seeped into his vision as the countless houses illuminated different colorful lights and blended with the colors of each of its surroundings.

The background further served the artistic image: the beauteous and enormous forest that lied beyond the walls, the clear plains along with the mountains, hills, and rivers. The most eye-catching thing in there was a magnificent castle enclosed with another walls that stood regally in the center of the city.

His attire and hair continued to rustle of being blown by the rushing wind. The full moon bloomed near at them, glowing feverently. The grandiose of the view made Gloathiac in awe.

"So beautiful" A voice subconsciously slipped out from his mouth.

Camie seemed to be awakened from it and languidly opened her eyes. Gloathiac swiftly glanced at her, looking out for her. He cancelled out the barrier he coated upon her, letting her fully enjoy of the situation. A strong wind blew up at her face, her deep blue hair lifted behind her and cascaded down as the wind died.

The first action she did was to glance at her surroundings. Her tiredness seemed to be killed by the sudden wind as joy slowly plastered on her expression, watching the bright scene.

["Camie, how's the present?" Camie's mother asked with a warm smile.

"Mother, this is so pretty!" Camie was thoroughly astounded. "The world is so small."

Her mother laughed gently as she said, "Remember Camie, even if the world is tainted by the darkness, we just need to see above how colorful it was."]

However, the atmosphere she was pouring out swiftly saddened in dolefulness. She casted her gaze away and cuddled at her seat. She faced her legs as if she felt cold by the wind.

Gloathiac spotted her change of expression and his jubilant feelings was affected. He thought, "Why does she looks so sad?"

"Glo, are you afraid?" Camie's words came out of her petite lips. The voice was indiscernible as if she just whispered, but Gloathiac could clearly hear it.

"Afraid of what?" Gloathiac softly asked even he already knew. He looked at the stars above and his head hanged lazily in his seat.

"Afraid of me." Camie weakly uttered as her head strongly embedded at her legs.

"Because you're different?" Gloathiac stretched his hand in the air, wanted to catch the stars so near to him.

Camie kept silent as if the question he said had triggered something fear within her. Her cuddle tightened even more.

"We have our own little secrets. If I am afraid of you because of what you just showed, then how can I fulfill my promise to hear you then?" Gloathiac pulled his hand back as he nonchalantly said. He then thought, "Besides, if I kept fearing of such things, then how can I brave forward to my own secrets."

Camie lifted her head to look at him, as she now properly spoke while carrying a pleading tone, "Really?"

"Yes"

"You wouldn't run away?"

"How can I run away? We're at the middle of the skies."

Camie's eyes began to turn wet.

["Hey witch, get out of here!" A young kid thrown a pebble to Camie, hitting her fragile head and letting her bleed. However, it didn't stop.

"Yeah, get out of here!"

"Keep away!"

"…"

Camie continued to feel pain around her body as stone after stone etch a wound to her. But it couldn't compare to their hurling verbal abuses. Her heart had suffered more than her body.]

"T- thank you" Camie said in a soft voice.

"Haha" Gloathiac lightly laughed, imitating his father. "You're welcome."
