22 XXI

[Something os oddly wrong with her]

Leto kept glancing at Dakota from a distance as he handled his work.

"Working so hard all day from morning to night and eagerly attending meetings.....not complaining at all something is fishy" Leto whispered to himself as he fiddle with his pen.

His sharp gaze then intently stared at the slight graze in Dakota's lips, it was already healed yet it was obvious that she just got it just recently.

[What really happened?]

His sharp gaze never left Dakota, he knew deeply that she was never the type that is clumsy so getting herself injured has a very slim chance. Not only that, not too long ago he smelled blood from her specifically in her arm obviously a deep wound yet she still acted as if it was nothing.

Leto even wondered if Dakota was getting herself into fights but everytime she did she would not be as calm as she is right now.

"Seems like our businesses in Sector Uno are going well" Dakota spoke as she gathered the papers and arranged them properly.

Before the Kuryuu family was in the brink of financial collapse as their businesses are losing money, when she took over the position of being the head of the family Dakota did try to borrow money from loan sharks but ended up unsucessful as they deemed her as someone incapable of paying it back. She had no choice then but to sell the properties and used the money to gamble.

It was no easy feat as the remaining members of the Kuryuu family even Leto was against the idea thinking she had gone crazy and picked up some bad habits.

Observation

Illusion

Lies

Those three are the three things that Dakota held as she gambled the funds, there were no such thing as pure luck in gambling when someone continuously wins. Each game Dakota observed the game itself and the tricks beneath it, tricks that turnes into illusion and illusions that turned into victory and victory that turned into money.

Little by little she mastered it and went from one casino to another, gambling huge money will either lose or gain huge amount yet in Dakota's situation she almost drained all the money out from gmablers.

She can't even count all the killing attempts she has been through because some people cannot stand her existence.

Hotels, malls, apartments, resorts and factories she has them all and to be able to top the business in the span of just three years she has to eliminate competitors and threats.

All the assets of the fallen Mafias she conquered them all and not even the police could say anything as the Noble family of Sector Uno lives in the protection of the Kuryuu family.

The Noble families are the families that controls each sector and each noble family has the equivalent status of Royal Family, despite being reigning the Underworld Society of Sector Uno the Royal family hired them to be their secret guards in exchange for gold bars.

Getting along with the Noble family of Sector Uno is a risk that comes with a huge amount of money and if they did turned against the Kuryuu family she could exploit the secrets of the Noble family, she do run an intelligence group specifically groups of hackers that gains information to people and black mails them for money.

Dakota has to admit she is no innocent and as the moment she stepped inside the Kuryuu family she has to leave her previous self to find her new self.

"I think we should also reallocate our black mailing business here, since there are more illegal organizations here we could sell them information" Dakota spoke as she signed on another stack of papers.

"You are spending way too much in the hospitals, piers and the Paramount Building, if you keep spending so much money I am not sure until when the family's funds lasts" Leto replied although he did not really mean it, he knew the family's funds could buy all the properties in Sector Uno.

"Didn't I already remind you that we need to make more business to be flexible, the world is changing swiftly and if we want business we too also change. You might want to take the previous Kuryuu family as an example" Dakota took a sip from her cup and stared at Leto.

"I'll take care of it" Leto spoke as he walked towards door.

Dakota sighed as she took a glance from her phone as if she was expecting something.

Then suddenly her secretary in the company came in a bit of a rush.

"Ms Kaede, Mr Ingorov is here to see you" the woman spoke.

"Desmund?" Dakota replied in a stressed tone.

"Don't let him in and say that I am busy" Dakota added as she tried to shoo away her secretary.

"But-! "

"Drive me away? How heartless" suddenly Desmund's pissed off tone could be heard as he forced his way in.

He glared at the secretary as a signal for her unwanted appearance in which the woman immediately caught and left the room.

"Can't you see I am making money?" Dakota responded coldly as she continued sign the papers not giving Desmund some face.

"Do we really have to bicker each time we meet?" Desmund stated as he glared at Dakota.

"If you'd be so kind then we wouldn't have to" she spoke staring at him with indifference as she laid her pen to the desk.

"Are you implying that I am....mean?" Desmund spoke with disbelief, no one had the guts to talk back to him with such audacity except for the person infront of him.

"Do I really have to?.....I mean it is already written in your face" Dakota retorted with a mocking smile on her face.

"What are you even here for?" Dakota's smile disappeared in a matter of seconds, his existence really sours her mood.

"People are talking sh¡t about you and it concerns me too since I am your fiancé"

Desmund walked closer to Dakota as he slammed his hand on her desk and whispered on her ear emphasizing the last word.

His toned pissed and the expression on his face was extremely cold.
