16 The Vacation Part I

It was a very sunny day in the month of July and a young boy who looked about 11-12 years old with an athletic body was packing in his room. He had blonde hair and warm brown eyes and had a face that you could tell just by looking at once that it would turn out to be a handsome one.

'I am 10 years old now, its just one year more until I can get my wand and can go to Hogwarts' Rubin thought while sitting on his bed and daydreaming.

" Ruby, honey are you done packing because the portkey leaves in about half-hour and if you don't hurry up we are gonna be late" his mother called from downstairs.

"I am coming mum" He yelled back and started heading downstairs with his backpack that looked like a muggle trekking bag.

It was summer and we were all going on our yearly vacation to France, At first, it would just be me, mum and dad, but later Harry, Neville, aunt Alice, Frank, and Sirius also joined in so it became like a yearly group vacation.

"I am ready to go, mum," I told her while running down the stairs.

"Alright, put your backpack alongside the trunks and I will shrink it" she shouted from inside the kitchen.

"What are you doing in the kitchen"

"I'm just packing some sandwiches that tweaky made, we are going to be taking a long ride from the French ministry to the beach house, so I thought that some light lunch will be good"

"Alright mum, I am going ahead to aunt Alice's place"

"Ok, I'll be right behind you"

I walked to floo and took some floo powder from the urn beside the fireplace, went inside and said in a clear voice "Longbottom's Retreat".

"Years of practice had made me really good at traveling by the floo, so before I even stopped spinning I was already walking out of the floo place.

I had landed inside of a well-lit hallway of a manor like place. It was decorated tastefully with victorian style furniture and looked comfortably spacious.

I walked with familiarity to the kitchen and found aunt Alice telling the house-elf to make extra cookies.

"Hey aunt Alice, I knew I would find you here, because your sister was doing the exact same thing, do both you have some kind of connection between your mind" I joked while coming to her side " hey pinky " I said while waving a hand at the elf who waved back.

" Ha Ha Ha, you are so funny," she said sarcastically while running a hand through my hair " Now run along and check whether those two little monsters have packed or not "

I went out of the kitchen and climbed the stairs to the first floor, On the left side there a hallway that had two doors that were opposite to each other while left one had Neville written on it the other had Harry.

I went into harry's room and found both boys trying to do magic with aunt Alice's wand.

"You're doing it all wrong, mum didn't wave her wand like that, you have to flick it harder," Neville said.

"You do it then if you're so smart," Harry said while giving the wand to Neville.

"I AM smarter than you and I will show you" Neville took the wand and waved it over the trunk while saying incantation for the levitation charm.

Harry started laughing after seeing him fail for the fourth time.

"Ooo ... what happened to the smart boy, did he pack his brains too" Harry teased Neville who turned red from embarrassment.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING" I shouted while mimicking Frank's voice.

They both jumped and pointed the finger at the other person and shouted at the same time:

"HE STOLE IT"

I went down to the floor while laughing hard, and both their faces turned red. Neville recovered quickly and said:

"Oh it's just you, why did you scare us like that, for a second I thought it was dad"

"Oh, nothing I just wanted to see what you would do when scared and it's really nice to know that you're so loyal to each other," I said getting up from the floor while wiping the tears from my eyes.

"So are you both packed, Because I am pretty sure that if you're not then Aunt Alice is just going to leave you behind"

"We both packed ages ago, it's just we were trying to take our trunks downstairs and Neville had the wonderful idea to steal auntie's wand to try to levitate them," said harry grouchily.

"Hey don't blame this all on me, it may have been my idea but you are one who stole the wand while I distracted mum"

"Alright, guys you both go downstairs and try to return her wand without her knowing and I will carry your trunks downstairs," I told them while ushering them outside.

When I knew for sure that they were climbing down the stairs, I looked at both the trunks silently and they both started floating. I went outside the room and locked it while the trunks floated behind me. When I reached the stairs I touched the trunks to the ground so that it would look like that I was carrying it while in reality, they were floating.

I had mastered casting the levitation spell silently a while ago and now all I would need to do is just stare at an object and I would be able to use the levitation charm on it.

When I arrived downstairs everyone had already gathered in the living room. Frank, my dad, and my mum were discussing something in front of the fireplace, while aunt Alice was counting all the bags and shrinking all of them after I had put the boy's trunk beside all the luggage.

" Alright Everyone, go to the backyard, the portkey leaves in 5 minutes" Aunt Alice shouted to everyone.

"Chill Alice, We still have enough time, "Sirius said from his seat at the sofa where he was showing some kind of rope to the boys. Aunt Alice stared at him with murderous eyes while everyone else started leaving for the backyard.

"Geez! don't get your knickers in a twist, we are going for a holiday, not a military camp " He said while laughing but his laughter stopped when he saw that aunt Alice was reaching for her wand. He ran away after seeing that while bringing the kids with him.

I helped aunt Alice carry the small handbag in which all the luggage was placed while she locked the door with her wand. Some kind of magical tingling went through the air which meant that the wards were on lockdown.

After were all present in the backyard, Frank had all of us gathered in a circled and enlarged a ring to the size of a hula hoop. This year we were all going to the beach house that the Blacks had in their family for generations and that Sirius had just gotten renovated.

We all made small talk while waiting for portkey to activate. While looking at everyone talking around me, I felt really happy inside my heart and once again thanked whatever deity that had sent me here...
