19 Night at the CDC
I and the other survivors file into the CDC lobby. Dr. Edwin Jenner meets us at the door with an automatic rifle.
"Why are you here, and what do you want?" Jenner asks us.
"A chance," Rick says simply.
"That's asking an awful lot these days," Jenner replies, but he agrees to allow us in - provided we all submit to a blood test.
"Grab your things," he says.
"Once this door closes, it stays closed."
Rick agrees, and of course, I end up opening a path with Daryl to take our stuff back. After this, we follow Jenner to the building's subterranean control center.
In the elevator, big enough to carry all of us bellow, Daryl couldn't help but ask.
"All the doctors are packing heat like that?"
Jenner reply with a deadpan face: " There were plenty left lying around. I familiarized myself. But you look harmless enough" He looks at Carl with a smile.
"Except you, you seem strong, I'm watching you." Carl shyly smiles.
"I'm claustrophobic," says Carol a little afraid.
"I advise you to not think about it"
He lead us to the control.
"Vi, bring up the lights in the big room," he says, and the lights go up.

Looking around, Rick questions the absence of other doctors
"I'm all that's left" reply Jenner
"Then who is Vi?" asked Lori
Jenner smile and says:" Vi, introduce yourself"
"Hello, guests. Welcome" reply a synthetic voice, Vi is the voice of the CDC's computer system.
Well, now comes the blood sample, everyone is weak because of lack of food and a good night of rest. Me? I'm still good... So I had to do most of the jobs...
When it was my turn for my blood sample, I relax my arm to the maximum I can and Jenner had to try twice before he succeeds in taking my blood.
After Andrea was drained, she gets up from the chair and almost fails, I catch her quickly and take her in my arm. She is too tired to tease me.

He lead us to the CDC cafeteria where the stock was almost full. So we feast!
It's being a long time since eating like this. There was also alcohol and I took my bottle of whiskey and packs of cigarets and share with everyone. Daryl made Glenn drunk. Carl tries the wine and was disgusted. Well, we finish the feast in joy but...
"Doctor Jenner, why are you the only doctor here?" My question completely silences the cafeteria.
He sighs and starts to explain: " Most fled while the others... couldn't face walking out the door. They...opted out"
Ether try to survive outside or suicide inside.
"Then, why are you still alive?" asked Amy
"Because I hoped to do some goods" he had a bitter smile while saying this.
