5 Best friend

I went out of the school ground and into the forest behind it. To take a walk but mostly to walk off the shame I was feeling.

I kept walking aimlessly until I was far away from school and flew up and sat on top of a giant tree to enjoy the view. 'I shouldn't overthink the situation. If Rosalie is not my mate maybe it's one of the Denali's or even some shifters. Who knows it's not like I wished for a mate or anything. And if I have no one there's plenty of fish in the sea.'

I took a look at my phone to check how much time I had before lunch break ended and noticed I only had a couple of minutes left. I immediately flew off in the direction of the school, landed at the edge of the forest and walked the rest of the way. I'll probably end up late for class but I had one of those moments where you're just too lazy to run to make it to class. So you just end up walking and mentally prepare a plausible excuse.

I managed to get into the art class 5 minutes late. The teacher signed the attendance paper and with an "I'm new to this school." as an excuse. He didn't give me a hard time.

As I made it to class I could hear some snickers and some people making fun of me. Guess everyone heard about me being treated as if I was air by Rosalie. I didn't care as long as no one came and tried rubbing it in my face. I sat down in the only empty chair in class.

" Hi, I'm Alice nice to meet you." An overexcited girl voice I now recognized as Alice said to my right.

I turned to look at her to introduce myself but she didn't let me. " I heard you the first two times in the cafeteria, you're Theodore Swan but everyone calls you Theo." She added in a happy tone. Which gave me the urge to pet her. Like some dog, she looked at me like she deserves to be praised for remembering my name.

" Good girl!" I said while patting her on the head. Which seemed to surprise her. It seems she didn't see that coming. Her future sight only works when a decision has been made. So she must not be used to spontaneous decision like the ones I usually do.

" I'm not some pet!" She retorted trying to sound angry but I could see the amusement in her eyes.

Our interaction was interrupted by the teacher who was giving us instructions on a team project. We had to draw our table partner and have it done by the end of the week. The teacher was about to add that if we didn't have a table partner we could always draw a member of our family. While looking at Alice but stopped and smiled noticing me sitting next to her. It seems Alice didn't have many friends in this school. Now that I think about it the only friend she ever had in the movies except for her family was Bella. Damn, it must be a really lonely life.

I looked at my right to notice that Alice was scared to ask me to be her partner for the project. So I did instead.

" Hey want to be my partner?" I asked and turned my body around to fully face her.

What she did surprise me greatly. She squealed and started bouncing off in joy. " Of course I want to!" Her excitement seemed to weird out a lot of people around her. Who looked at her weirdly and started muttering something under their breath and giving her a disgusted look.

Alice seemed to calm down, noticing the stares and probably hearing every word they were saying about her. She looked at me with a sorry look. Thinking that I would rethink my choice of teaming up with her.

" Don't be sorry! I actually quite enjoy your excitement it's contagious. Most of the time, I tend to sleep in class just the fact that I'm up and running shows how entertaining you are to me. So don't try to change your ways I don't mind what others think." I say while putting a hand on her shoulder and Crouching to meet eye to eye with her.

She released a sigh of relief and got back to being excited. And explaining what and how we're going to proceed in the project. And even invited me to her house this Saturday so we could finish it.

We were having so much fun talking, and drawing that we didn't even notice when the class came to an end. As we made our way out of class I realized she stuck with me.

" Uh, Alice not that I mind or anything but why are you following me?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

" I'm not following you silly, we both have class in the same direction. You have P.E class while I have ballet." She said with a slap to my shoulder.

" Oh ok, thought you fell for my looks for a second." I said smugly while scratching my chin.

" Oh, you wish! I'm very content with my man." She said with a haughty tone.

" Oh is he that blonde guy that was with you. In the cafeteria."

" Yes and he's Rosalie twin. By the way, maybe you could get with her, that way we'll be the two best friends dating the two twins." She added and glanced my way, her eyes filled with concern. I didn't know if she was thinking about my rejection by Rosalie in the cafeteria or if she was worried that I would deny her best friend claim.

" We're best friends right?" She asked with an unsure voice looking like she might start crying.

" Well let's see: we get along pretty well, you manage to quench my boredom just by being around me. And your actually quite funny for a girl." I closed my eyes and took a thinking pose. Which seemed to stress her even more. Before opening one eye glancing at her from head to toe. And nodding with a wide smile. "I guess you pass the best friend criteria."

I was immediately tackled to the ground by an over-excited Alice.

" Damn your strong for a girl!" I said looking at her smiling face.

" Or your just weak for a guy!" She retorted back and we both started laughing.

She stood up and helped me up by giving me her hand. And we made our way to our separate classes.
