31 Clarifying Rumors

While the punishment would not be a severe one, monetary compensation was probably unavoidable. 

Lu Jia's heart skipped a beat when Jing Yunzhao explained what happened in detail and defended herself confidently. 

The police announced the truth? What truth? Wasn't everyone saying that Jing Yunzhao had an affair with a gangster? They were… wrong? 

"I have spoken to my superior about this. I agree that there are still untrue rumors spreading in school and we have decided to make an announcement during the morning exercise and clear your name once and for all," Ms. Kim sighed. 

What would a decent student think of her school in the future if she was ruined by untrue rumors like these? 

"Tell your parents to come to school, Lu Jia," said a teacher of Class 2 dejectedly, "you might have suffered from this encounter, but you don't deserve justice. Did Jing Yunzhao offend you? Do you know the consequences of spreading untrue rumors?" 

The security guard played the CCTV footage in front of everyone as requested by the teacher of Class 2, which further confirmed what Jing Yunzhao said. 

Although the CCTV footage was soundless and they did not know what their conversation was about, they could easily find out by checking with one or two of the students who witnessed the fight. 

And while Jing Yunzhao might have been cruel, it was true that Lu Jia was the one who picked the fight and Jing Yunzhao's face would have been injured if she hadn't reacted quickly and dodged.

"Teacher…" Lu Jia whined, trying to defend herself. 

"Don't say anything else and just tell your parents to come here. Go to the infirmary for now, it is so inappropriate for a little girl like you to get into a fight like this!" The teacher scolded unhappily. 

After all, it was embarrassing to have her student pick a fight and end up in an unfavourable situation. 

Jing Yunzhao pursed her lips and stopped speaking when the truth came to light, and left the office after telling Ms. Kim. 

Meanwhile, Su Chu was waiting eagerly outside of the teachers' office and her eyes sparkled the moment Jing Yunzhao came out from there. 

"You were awesome, Yunzhao! I can't believe Lu Jia had no chance to even fight back, and ended up having to get her parents to come to school too. What a great outcome!" Su Chu exclaimed, laughing loudly. 

"I was just lucky. I would never have done that if the CCTV wasn't there," Jing Yunzhao said slowly, staring at Su Chu. 

She was not dumb, and she knew that justice would be given to the victim no matter what she said unless she had solid proof. 

Su Chu stuck out her tongue cutely and clung to Jing Yunzhao's arm, refusing to let go. 

The students in the school were surprised to see the lone ranger Jing Yunzhao not only beat someone up and get away with it, but also make a friend with one of the most popular girls in school!

The school that Jing Yunzhao attended was a large one with plenty of talented and good-looking students from the whole county. 

There were some students who took the liberty to prepare two lists : the school babes and school hunks lists, and the rankings were based on anything but academic results. 

Su Chu with her cute girl image was ranked number three on the school babes list, and her look was the most popular amongst the seniors. 

Su Chu was known for her social skills, but also for being selective about who her friends were. She hated hypocrites, and it sparked everyone's curiosity when she and Jing Yunzhao were spotted together. 

Could it be that Jing Yunzhao was really not as bad as rumored? 

Jing Yunzhao felt odd to be the center of attention. However, the way they looked at her was kinder than it used to be, and Jing Yunzhao was happy for the change. 

The students all lined up and marched towards the field not long after. 

"We have heard some untrue rumors going around in the school lately which has caused great stress…" The headmaster started seriously, his deep voice projected through the speakers.
