37 My Hero Name is......

[Third person POV]

The small break from the sports festival was over and it was time to go back to class. Jinsei hasn't woken up yet, the "dog" that Kaito got from Hermes was officially named Lil Mac and has been living happily in the dog house that they bought him.

Kaito knew that it was time to chose a hero name, of course he already has a name for himself. Kaito did his morning routine and walked to school.

'Man, what a nice day. It almost makes me forget the troubles that I'm gonna have to face in the near future.' Thought Kaito

'I really hope that the Hosu incident remains the same, I've already altered the normal timeline, the only thing I can do now is to hone myself and aid my friends.'

He entered UA and went inside 1-A class, they were gossiping about how famous they became, he, of course, couldn't care less. It's not that he hates fame, it's just not his thing.

"It's so weird that people recognize us from TV. Everyone wanted to talk to me on my way here." Mina.

"Yeah, me, too." Tokoyami.

"People on the street were staring at me! It was kind of embarrassing." Mina.

"Sure, but isn't that pretty normal for you? You won't believe what a bunch of elementary school kids yelled at me." Yaoyorozu.

"Nice try?" Tsuyu.

Some students shiver after hearing that and Kaito starts to laugh his ass off.

"Kaito-chan you shouldn't do stuff like that." Tsuyu tells Kaito.

Kaito blushes a little and then acts like normal.

"But Asui-chan, it is funny seeing them depressed for something that minor. They still have a long way to go and cannot expect to reach that far with how little their strength is."

"Call me Tsuyu, and are you sure that you are in any position to say that? You dominated the competition taking the spotlight entirely for yourself."

"Hehe, I'm just a normal human being no need to overpraise me." Kaito said with a goofy smile.

"SHUT UP SWORD FREAK!" Bakugo.

"How are those injuries? I told you that you couldn't handle it." Kaito asked worried.

"FUCK OFF! I'M FINE!"

"Ok." Kaito gave him a thumbs ups and waited for Aizawa.

Aizawa enters the class and everyone greets him.

"Good morning, Aizawa-sensei!"

"Ribbit? Mr. Aizawa, you don't have bandages anymore." Tsuyu.

"That's good news." Ochaco.

"The old lady went a little overboard in her treatment. Anyway. We have a big class today on Hero Informatics." Aizawa says with a serious face.

'Oh, no!' Thought most of the class.

"Informatics? Please don't tell me it's a pop quiz." Kaminari.

"Crap, I bet it's about hero laws. I'm so bad at stuff like that." Kirishima.

"You need codenames. Time to pick your hero identities." Spoke Aizawa with a plain tone.

"Its something interesting!" Yelled most students.

Aizawa makes a scary face, making the whole class to get silent.

"This is related to the pro hero draft picks that I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally, students don't have to worry about the draft yet. Not until their second or third year actually, but your class is different. In fact, by extending offers to first-years like you, pros are essentially investing in your potential. Any offers can be rescinded if their interest in you dies down before graduation, though." Explained Aizawa.

"Stupid, selfish adults." Cursed Mineta.

"So, what you're saying is, we'll still have to prove ourselves after we've gotten recruited." Asked Hagakure.

"Correct. Now. Here are the totals for those of you who got offers. In past years, it's been more spread out. But there's a pretty big gap this time."

Aizawa press a button and a list with the names of students and the number of offers that they got appeared on the board.

"Todoroki got the most?" Sero.

"And Kaito barely got 50 offers." Mineta said in a mocking tone.

Kaito takes a rope out of Nezuko and ties Mineta to the edge of the window.

"SORRY!!!"

"I expected as much. In a world that favors those with 'better' quirks this was the most possible outcome." Kaito says while returning to his desk.

"It seems a little unfair. Out of all of us, you performed the best by a lot." Midoriya.

"At least I got 50, look, your name is not in the list, meaning that you got nothing." Kaito.

Midoriya gets depressed by the comment.

"I bet everyone was really grossed out by the crazy way you were fighting." Shoji.

"I guess..." Midoriya answers with a gloomy face.

"Regardless of that, congrats for the amount of offers Todoroki." Yaoyorozu.

"Those offers that I got are probably because of my father." Todoroki.

"Heh! It seems that you'll be left in the dust dull sword." Bakugo laughs.

"Didn't Kaito defeated you in the finals?" Todoroki asked with a genuine confused look.

"FUCK OFF HALF-HALF BASTARD!"

"Enough!" Aizawa ended the ruckus.

"Despite these results, you'll all be interning with pros. Got it?"

"Even those of you who didn't get any offers. Oh, so, we're all interning?" Asked Ojiro.

"Yes. You already got to experience combat with real villains during the attack on the USJ facility. But it'll still be helpful to see pros at work. Up close and personal, in the field. Firsthand."

"And for that, we need hero names!" Cheered Mina.

"Things are suddenly getting a lot more fun!" Sato.

'If only things were that simple my catfish-like friend.' Thought Kaito.

"These hero names will likely be temporary, but take them seriously or..." Aizawa was interrupted.

"...you'll have hell to pay later!" Midnight appeared doing a sexy walk.

"MIDNIGHT!!" Yelled most of the class.

"What you pick today could be your codename for life. You better be careful, or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent." Midnight explains.

"Indecent like your past costumes or as Bakugo's behavior?" Kaito.

"*COUGH* *COUGH* Something in between. Anyway, I'm just saying that you need to take this seriously." Midnight tries to change the subject.

"Midnight is going to have final approval over your names. It's not my forte."

(In Shota Aizawa's case.)

"Hm? So, you haven't decided on a codename yet?" Asked Hizashi Yamada (Present-Mic.)

"It doesn't matter what I choose. I don't wanna be in the spotlight anyway." Answered Shota Aizawa (Eraser Head.)

"Bro. I got it! You'll be Eraser Head!"

"Sure, whatever."

(Back to the present.)

"The name you give yourself is important. It helps reinforce your image and shows what kind of hero you wanna be in the future. A codename tells people exactly what you represent. Take "All Might" for example."

"Aren't you being a bit hypocritical? Considering that you couldn't care less about your name." Kaito.

"How do you know that?"

"Present-Mic-sensei told me." (Curiously enough, it did happen.)

'I have to shut down his mouth for good.' "That is my and only MY problem, be better and think this through, or let the world mock you for a shitty name."

The students gulp and pass between each other some boards to write their names.

'My hero name huh? I've been thinking quite a lot about this. I wanted to call myself in honor of a certain Monstrous Soul Reaper, but this one seems more fitting.'

"Now, students, who among you is ready to share?" Asked Midnight.

"We're presenting these?" Asked Kirishima embarrassed.

"Oh, great! Who's got the balls to go first?" Sero.

Everyone went and looked at Kaito, expecting him to be the first but, he was sleeping. Aoyama got up and went to the grandstand.

"Hold your breath. The Shining Hero: My name is "I cannot stop twinkling!" Aoyama proudly raises his board.

"Mon amis. You can't deny my sparkle." He winks at the class.

'It's an entire sentence!!!' Thought most of the class.

"It'll be better this way. Take out the 'I' and shorten the 'cannot' to 'can't.'" Midnight corrected.

"It's stunning, mademoiselle." Aoyama appreciates the pointers.

'So that's fine?!' Thought most of the class.

"She likes it?" Sato.

"Also, you're not really French, are you? That's just an act." Mineta.

"Okie dokie, lemme go next! My Hero name: Alien Queen!" Mina.

"Hold on. Like that horrible monster with the acidic blood? I don't think so." Midnight said remembering the xenomorph.

"Dang it." Mina went back to her desk while pouting.

'Idiot.' Thought most of the male students.

"Ribbit! I think I've got one. Okay if I go next?" Tsuyu raised her hand.

"Come on up, Tsuyu-chan!"

"I've had this name in mind since grade school. Rainy Season Hero: Froppy!"

"That's delightful! It makes you sound approachable. What a great example of a name everyone will love!" Midnight.

Everyone continued saying the name Froppy until Aizawa told them to be quiet for him to sleep.

"Alright I'm next! The Sturdy Hero: Red Riot!" Kirishima.

"'Red Riot'? Interesting. You're paying homage to the Chivalrous Hero: Crimson Riot, yes?" Midnight.

"That's right! He may be kind of old school, but someday, I wanna be just like he was. Crimson is my idol." Kirishima.

"Hm. If you're bearing the name of someone you admire, you have that much more to live up to." Midnight.

"I accept the challenge!"

Some students were having a hard time deciding and the focus goes to Kaminari.

"Man. I still haven't been able to think of anything that's cool enough." He says while thinking of his dilemma.

Suddenly Jiro taps Kaminari's shoulder and he sees her.

"Hey, I've got one. How does "Jamming-yay" sound to you?"

"Ha! Oh, it's like "Hemingway," who wrote 'A Farewell to Arms', right? Real clever. I like it."

"No. It's because even though you're powerful, you always... (Jiro remembers Kaminari's fried brain mode and holds her laugh.) ...jam your brain."

"Oh, come on, Jiro. Quit messing with me!" Kaminari complains but Jiro went towards the grandstand.

"The Hearing Hero: Earphone Jack." Jiro.

"Now that's a good one!" Midnight.

Students kept going with their names at hand.

"Tentacle Hero: Tentacole." Shoji.

"Oh, I like what you're doing with that wordplay."

"The Taping Hero: Cellophane!" Sero.

"That suits you, good work!"

"Martial Arts Hero: Tailman." Ojiro.

"Simple but effective! Next!"

"Sweets Hero: Sugarman!" Sato.

"Perfect!"

"Pinky!" Mina.

"Make those looks work for you, girl!"

"Stun gun Hero: Chargebolt. Electric, dontcha think?" Kaminari.

"Makes me all tingly!"

"The Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl!" Hagakure.

"Fitting, like your gloves."

"Now come on, who's gonna step up next?" Midnight.

"I hope that I can live up to this name. The Everything Hero: Creati!"

"Creative!"

"Shoto." Todoroki.

"Just your name? Is that it?"

"Uh-huh."

Suddenly an air horn sounds and everyone in the class cover their ears.

"Shitty name! Shitty name! I have spotted a shitty name!" Kaito yelled after stopping the air horn.

"Weren't you asleep Kobayashi-kun?" Midnight.

"Nope, I was pretending to have an excuse to present myself at the end of the class, you know, best for last."

'Humble.' Thought most of the class.

"Anyway, I reject that name."

"Why? Is there something bad with it?" Todoroki.

"Yes! You have such a cool quirk to have such shitty name. if you aim to the top, you would want a great hero name to be there, right?"

"I guess. I have no problems with this one but feel free to choose one."

"Glad you asked for it."

Kaito takes out a large list full of hero names from Nezuko.

"You had names planned for all of us?" Kirishima.

"Only if you liked them and in case your first options were rejected."

"Why didn't you help Mina then?" Ochaco.

"Meh, the girl is very creative with this type of stuff, so I let her roll with it."

"Aww thanks dude." Mina.

"Aha here it is. Cold N' Hot Hero: Frost-Fire."

"Not bad, it has a nice ring to it." Midnight.

"I'll go with that then." Todoroki went back to his seat.

"Let's keep this up!" Midnight.

"Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi." Tokoyami.

"Ah, God of the night!"

"Fresh-Picked Hero: Grape Juice!" Mineta.

"Very refreshing and kitschy!"

"King explosion murder." Bakugo.

"I'm gonna say that one's a little too violent."

"Huh, whaddaya mean?!"

"Why don't you be explosion Boy?"

"Shut up weird hair!"

Kaito once again pressed the air horn and the class was in agony.

"I don't want to hear anything from you shithead!"

"Ok Bakugo here's the deal: I give you the suggestion and if you pick it, as long as you like it of course, I won't bother you EVER AGAIN using the beatdown you received by my hands at the sports festival. How about it?"

Bakugo was thinking for a while, he knew that he couldn't defeat Kaito yet, so stopping the commentary about his defeat was the better option for now.

"Ok, but give a shitty name and I'll kill you!"

"This is the only name I could think that you would accept. Great Explosion Murder God: Dynamight!"

Kaito wrote the name in the board and the class fell into silence.

'Its even larger than Aoyama's.' Thought most of the class and the teachers.

"So? What do you think?"

"Humph, you get to live another day shit face." Bakugo took the board and went to his desk.

The name has a sense of familiarity to him, so he accepted and smirked when he saw the tittle.

"Isn't that a little to violent as well?" Kirishima.

"Nope, the actual name is Dynamight the other is the tittle, like yours being 'Sturdy Hero'. Dyna comes from Dynamite and the might comes from All Might, since Bakugo plans to surpass him and reach the #1 spot."

"I really want to hear your name now, since you are so creative with your classmate's names." Midnight.

"Some are still missing so you'll have to wait."

"Okay. My turn." Ochaco went to the grandstand.

"This is the name I thought of: Uravity!"

"I just love the ring it has to it!"

"Well, we only are missing, Midoriya, Iida and Kaito who is stubborn on going last."

"It appears to be my turn then!" Iida went towards the grandstand and placed his board."

"High-Speed Hero: Gearshift!" Iida proudly announces.

"What a nice name. How did you come up with it?"

"When Battling Kaito-kun, I realized that I could control how much energy I can put into my legs, thus creating momentum almost as fast as my top speed, of course, it only lasted for a short time but doing the action felt something similar to driving a shifter. Therefore, I went with Gearshift."

"Nice! Well, Midoriya, are you ready?"

"Oh. Yes!"

'This is it. It has to be.' Midoriya thought.

Midoriya shows his board and the class gasp.

"Really, Midoriya?" Mineta.

"You sure about that?" Kaminari.

"Yeah, man, remember, that could be your name forever." Kirishima.

"Right. I used to hate it. But, then, something changed. I guess...Someone taught me that it could have a different meaning. And that had a huge impact on how I felt. So, now I really like it. From now on, Deku is the name of a hero!"

'I feel a little emotional.' Kaito.

"Great name! I really can't wait to see your progress."

"It's my turn." Kaito started to walk towards the grandstand and had some flashbacks.

'You and your mother are a burden.'

'Sorry, I'm sorry Kai-kun, if only mom had birthed you with a quirk.'

'If I had chosen a quirk…would mom be happier?'

'I will become the first quirkless hero! And I will reach the top!'

'Even without a quirk. I'll show this world what I'm capable of.'

"We will be together for quite some time; I will aid you guys in anything I can to help you reach your dreams. I'm no Symbol of Peace or a savior sent by the heavens. I'm a hero that will be one of the many pillars to a better society!"

"The Quirkless Hero: Hashira!"

Kaito proudly shows his name and the class have smiles in their faces (Even Bakugo and Todoroki), hoping to be part of the future that Kaito envisions (And surpass him of course).
