Training and the coming Future

It had been a month since Blade stormed the facility and 'saved' me and Mia. Just like he said, he had been training me and quite intensely if I might add.

My thought process was stopped as another of Blades punches collided with my face. I flew backward and hit the wall of the small Dojo Blade had in his hideout.

I wiped the blood from my broken nose and felt my nose slowly click back into place.

"Cheap shot..." without waiting for a reply, I kicked off the floor and in the direction of the ceiling. I angled my feet upward and bent my knees. I came into contact with the ceiling and let my momentum bend my knees further.

Blade looked up at me quickly putting a block up but it was a bit too late as I pushed off from the ceiling with enough force to send a myriad of cracks throughout the wooden paneling.

*Bang!*

My fist collided with the floor of the dojo, caving in the area around my fist slightly. My head shot up, looking around the area, surprise-filled my face as I was pretty sure I'd be able to hit Blade through such an unconventional move.

A swish of air was caught by my ears before I felt a boot connect to my chin, knocking my head back with deadly force. I could've sworn I heard and felt my neck breaking, it was that hard of a kick.

"What did I say about using your superior strength to get an advantage over me?" Blade's slightly sarcastic voice rung in my ears, even with the ringing in my ears from that kick. Knowing he wanted me to answer it, I slowly stood up and looked at him.

"It won't work--" my answer was cut off by Blade speaking over me.

"Yep, it won't work on me. You know why, kid? Because I've fought some freaks of nature during my time and I've realized one thing," he paused before walking over to me and kneeling so we were eye to eye. Or eye to shades.

"People who rely on brute strength get sloppy in fights. They don't use the inherent gift they have to greater effect. Look at you for example," he motioned to my person, "You can bench about 2 tons, can run about 20m/s and have the reaction time to dodge bullets, but you still can't beat me when I use my strength right," he put a hand on my shoulder, "Come with me, I had Whistler put something together for you,"

I looked curiously at him but followed him nonetheless.

We exited the brightly lit Dojo and entered the dim and dark corridors of Blade's hideout. It didn't matter to either me or Blade; we both had excellent night vision.

We walked down the corridor until we entered an open warehouse with an elevated platform full of computers and desks full of clutter - guns, car parts and small pieces of machinery thrown over each desk. It looked like a real mess.

"Whistler!" Blade shouted, looking about for the old man who usually sat in front of the computers. After a little bit of looking, he turned to me, "Stay here for a little bit, I'll go see where the old bastard is," after a short chuckle, he jogged off to go and look for Whistler.

I, on the other hand, went up onto the platform and started to mess around with the gadgets on the desks.

Compared to my last life where I hadn't even seen a gun in real life, let along touched one, looking at the gadgets on these desks was always a fun experience. Even if all these gadgets were tailored to kill Vampires like me.

One specific thing that stood out to me was a black sword with red, vein-like lines going throughout the blade. The edge of the blade was pure red and seemed to vibrate ever so slowly, from what my enhanced eyes could see anyway.

When I went to pick it up, a blinding light flashed from the side of me and the bluish light hit my arm resulting in a low hissing sound.

I automatically spun in the direction of the light, snarling at whoever shone that at me. The instincts that I had been controlling through meditation flared and screamed for me to tear whoever did that apart.

But I knew I couldn't do that because--

"Hmmm, you're getting more resistant to UV Rays every day...Guess you're one hell of a lucky bloodsucker," a teenage girl walked onto the platform. She had brown hair and dark eyes, a slender but athletically toned frame and a beautiful face. The only thing that would stop me from calling her an ideal woman was the glare of hatred she had on her face when she looked at me.

I lost my snarling expression and replaced it with a neutral one as I looked at the girl, "Is there any reason you're pointing a UV light at my arm, Abigail?" I kept as monotone as possible as showing any emotion in front of this fiery girl was akin to spitting in her face.

She scoffed at my question, looking at me in disbelief for some reason, "Because you're a piece of sh*t bloodsucker, that's why! I don't like you, or you kind and I definitely don't want you touching weapons my dad and I made, you little monster--!" her speech was cut off when a swift hand came from behind her and smacked her on the back of the head.

"Who do you think you're talking to, Abi? He's a goddamn kid, he's not done anything like the other Bloodsuckers you know...Anyhow, I don't see you saying that sorta stuff to Eric*, now do I?" a middle-aged man was next to her, hands on his sides, looking down at her with a questioning glare.

(*A/N: Eric Brookes is Blade's real name, Whistler is friends with him, hence why he calls him Eric instead of Blade.)

He was a bit shorter than Blade, around 6'1" or so, but he had a build just as solid even despite his old age. He had greying black hair and dark eyes just like daughter Abigail. Even though he was scolding Abigail, there was still a softness there that told me she was incredibly dear to him.

And that was why I wouldn't hurt her, even if she did try and kill me every chance she got. Anyway, no matter the damage she did to me, it'd all heal back good as new, right? So I'll let it all go, purely for Whistler. And the fact he'd f*cking kill me if I laid a hand on her.

Whistler looked over at me with an apologetic look, "Sorry 'bout her, kid, she doesn't mean any harm...at least not to you personally. More like she hates Vampires, but I'm sure once she looks past that, you'll have a big sister who'll look after you no matter what!" he smiled toward the end, his southern drawl making him sound incredibly jolly and friendly, despite the weathered and slightly scarred face he had.

I smiled in return, "Don't worry about it, old man, she's partially right in that I'm a monster, or that I was at least created to be one...but I won't let that define me, f*ck everyone's expectations on what I'll become, only I get to decide that!" I flashed a full smile, showing off my elongated canines. Other than my canines, most of my teeth past them were also sharper than normal, which made my smile look particularly bestial.

(A/N: So his front teeth are all normal looking but if he fully smiles or opens up his mouth you can see his teeth are sharper-looking than the average person's. Not that it makes him look repulsive, he's too handsome for sharp teeth to affect his charm ;) xD)

Whistler burst out in laughter before slapping me on the shoulder, "Ha! I really like this kid, Eric! He don't give a sh*t about what anyone says about him! Hahaha!" he wiped a tear from his eye as he laughed even more at seeing his daughter storm off. He looked down at me once again and gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze, "Don't change, kid. You've got an admirable mentality, especially after what they did to you in that facility. I'll think some more about letting that Mia stay with us in a week or two...you just gotta understand it's hard to be around a grown vampire--"

I stopped him with a hand, "I understand, don't worry about it old man. It might knock some years out of you if you worry so much, and from that greying hair, it looks like you need all the years you can get," I said this with a mischievous smirk which earned me another laugh and a smack upside the head.

"Haha! Cheeky brat, you're lucky I'm not 20 years younger, otherwise, I'd give you a goddamn spanking in a fight!" as I rubbed my head, Blade came over with a smirk on his face.

"Whistler, show him the stuff we got for him," Blade said this to remind the old man, and from the look of realization on Whistler's face, it was a good thing Blade said something.

Whistler rolled a suitcase from out under one of his many desks and pushed it onto his side with Blade's help. He opened up the hatched and presented the insides to me in an overly dramatic way.

Inside the case was four weights which looked like they could be put on your arms and legs and underneath those was a black vest which looked a lot like Blade's combat vest but obviously smaller. It weirdly looked a bit bulkier as well.

I looked back at the two who were intently looking at me, "What's are these? Training weights or something?"

Whistler chuckled at what I said, "Yeah, something like that. But mainly, they're limiters for you, so you can focus on your technique and combat prowess. They're made of a hyper-compressed metal, each weight should weigh around 400kg."

Blade leaned down and picked up one of the weights before throwing it to me. I caught it mid-air but my arms slightly dipped because of the momentum. It really was a heavyweight.

On its own, I would be able to walk around with it on for an indefinite period of time but with one on each of my limbs and a final one on my torso, just doing simple tasks efficiently would take a lot of energy.

It didn't daunt me, in fact, it actually excited me that I would actually have to push my superb body for the first time. Even against Blade, I couldn't do that. I don't know why I just couldn't. Guess it was because he was such a better fighter when compared to me.

I quickly put the weight on before securing the others on my 3 other limbs. I did that before slipping on the weight vest and taking in how much the weight affected me.

A few jumps and stretches later and I knew what I thought before was more or less right. I would still be able to move but it took vastly more energy and overall control.

Seeing my weirdly happy smile, Blade chuckled, "Then, from this day forward, you're gonna have to complete a training program I've set up for you. Along with combat training with the weights on!"

Currently, I was too excited about my future strength to worry about my present situation being dreadful but oh well, anything that could improve my strength in this chaotic world was completely worth it.

"And once you're ready, we're gonna tour the world hunting Vampires and finding other opponents for you to refine yourself on," Blade said this before walking off to the Dojo. I followed him - albeit weirdly as my balance was off because of the weight - as I knew my first intense training session was about to happen.

At this point, I truly wondered how far my so-called perfect DNA could take me.

Don't worry about the weights affecting his height, he has some Unknown (as of yet, anyway) Heavyworlder Species DNA in him. That along with the Asgardian and Oni Genes in him will make it so extra weight on his body doesn't impede his growth.
