New (Hellish) Life

It's been four years since I woke up in this hellish place...Let me give you a rundown on what I've found out so far.

I'm currently in an R&D-type facility where my captors make me run through all kinds of tests. Why do I do this, you ask? Because I'm the latest thing they've developed of course! Apparently, according to Arthur I am the next big machine of war for my creators.

Oh, and my creators are Vampires. Yeah, I know, pretty weird, right? Well, it also took me some time to accept this fact. Also, once I saw Mia and Arthur drink a poor guy dry, right in front of me. It was kinda disturbing because straight after that they had me drink from him as well. By this point I connected the dots - If Vampires made me, and they made me to fight some kind of war, wouldn't I also be a Vampire?

So, I did what they told me to do. I drank what was left of that poor guy. Weirdly enough, it didn't disgust me when I did it. Technically I had some play in how that guy died but it didn't trouble me in the least. I guess it had something to do with my new instincts? I didn't feel bad for Cows when I ate a hamburger, so I guess the same applies that now I'm a Vampire.

But ohohoh, was I surprised when they told me about my full heritage.

You see, Vampires - as much as they loved themselves and saw themselves as beings that were perfect - had to admit that they couldn't beat everyone. Not that they couldn't try but because if they did, they'd be obliterated.

So, in their desperation, they used knowledge stockpiled over thousands of years, to make the perfect soldier for the Vampire Army. They perfected the Vampire part first, which makes up around 70% of my bloodline.

I don't have complete immunity to their weakness but I have resistances that puts me leagues above most Vampires, excluding Daywalkers and Dracula himself. I also have elevated physical prowess even compared to fully-grown Vampires.

The rest of my bloodline is a jumbled mess of traits and powers from all over the place but I can say that a majority of it is Oni in origin. About 20% to be exact. For the remaining 10%, I couldn't give you a detailed list, even the people who made me just threw things in - well, as long as they were advantageous and didn't cause the rest of the jigsaw puzzle to collapse.

What am I doing currently that allows me to speak to myself like this? Well, only the best of things - Torture, I'm currently undergoing torture.

Currently, I'm strapped to a table as I'm slowly lowered into a bath of concentrated garlic. This wouldn't kill a normal vampire, let alone me who has resistance to things like this but it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like hell.

Despite the incoming pain, I didn't struggle as I knew the restraints holding me down were specially made, just for me after I broke the restraints last time with my ever-growing strength.

Within seconds, my skin touched the concentrated garlic liquid and instantly a sizzling sound could be heard, something akin to cooking bacon.

Unable to help it, my jaw opened and I screamed my little heart out. Even after 4 years of this, day in and day out, I still couldn't stop myself from screaming. It's like rubbing salt and lemon juice into a cut, you can never really get used to pain like that. It always stings.

Just like when I, a Vampire, come into contact with garlic concentrate, it always stings. Just less and less each time. Still...a little less than excruciating is still pretty painful.

Despite hearing my pained cries, that cold bastard Arthur and his boot-licker Sergei continue to lower me into the bath of pain below me. Seconds later and I'm completely submerged. I keep my mouth closed and savor what little breath I kept after screaming my head off.

The first few times of this treatment taught me not to let that garlic sh*t inside my body. It's like drinking acid.

As the minutes passed by, I got used to the sting and the weakening sensation brought by the liquid and despite the pain cascading throughout my lungs, I didn't take a breath, knowing that passing out would be much better than feeling my insides burn with the power of ten thousand suns.

A few more minutes passed by with my Vampire physique keeping me awake and not allowing me to pass out, letting me experience the small amounts of sharp, stinging pain that still wouldn't go away. But as I mentally complained about this, I heard a distant click, before I felt myself being hoisted up.

Slowly but surely, my face was free of the painful bath, finally back in touch with my new best pal - Air and the oxygen in it.

"*Cough* *cough* God damn..." I sucked in whatever air I could as I continued to placate my aching lungs with gifts of soothing oxygen.

Some of the garlic concentrate on my lips was sucked into my lungs which hurt like a bitch but in such little amounts, I could ignore it. Especially after just being dipped in the stuff.

"Alexander! You truly are getting better each time you enter the bath!" an annoying voice entered my ears as I looked over at the door on the other side of the room. Sergei came barreling in before wiping whatever Garlic liquid was on my body. And while I was thankful for this, I wish he'd stop acting like he cared and wipe that sh*t-eating grin off his face. He's what I'd call a smiling tiger - on the outside he's fine with you, treats you well and gains your trust but underneath all that, he's just waiting for a chance to jump at you and tear you to shreds.

Obviously, he's trying to get on my good side so I speak well about him when the council comes for their yearly meeting with the Vampire R&D-type facility.

Jokes on him though, as just like every year, I'm gonna try and get the bastard fired. Fired in this case is the literal term - the council kills the person they no longer need through our most vital weakness; sunlight.

Sergei finished with the wipe down before undoing the restraints on my body. Once they're off, I simply follow him out of the room to another room which looks weirdly like a dentist's treatment room with a chair in the middle of the room with a big, blinding light above it.

Next to the chair was a beautiful tan woman, who turned and smiled when she saw me, "Ah, Alex, you're here! Quickly, sit down so we can get this over with and then we can go get some lunch!" she then looked to Sergei, "And you, you can leave," she said this with a glare, making her amber eyes looked threatening for some reason.

Sergei held his hands up, laughing, before leaving the room.

I had a small smile on my face as I walked over to Mia and sat on the chair in the center of the room.

She looked at me before speaking, "Now, we're going to do the yearly tests we always do, Alex, and I know they hurt but you've got to be brave, okay?" seeing me nod resolutely, she chuckled, "Good, as expected from a child I've put effort in raising!"

She seemed proud of herself and I ignored her, already aware of her eccentric personality. She brought out a few different needles and a scanner from her lab coat.

I unconsciously gulped, my past fear of needles still being very present in this life.

So, I plan to spend a few chapters in this facility before having the MC meet someone from the Marvel Universe. He pretty much won't know he's in Marvel until he meets this person.

You can guess to who it is~~

Anyway, what do you guys think about the chapters so far? I know there's only two so far, but still, first impressions are the most important.
