7 First Blood

While we were walking, Mia kept muttering about how I was being stupid and how idiotic I was to bargain on her behalf. But I ignored it as the smile she tried to hide showed me how happy she was that I did do what I did.

Her footing was getting steadier each step she took, so she leaned on me less and less, taking away the comical sight of seeing a grown woman lean on a 4-year-old for physical support.

By now she'd cleaned the tears off of her face with a handkerchief she always kept in her pocket and we were next to Blade who looked straight at me.

"Kid, the next Vampires we meet will be your opponents..." he seemed to think for a while before grinning slightly, "...if you mess up, that bloodsucker you care about so much isn't coming with us. So make sure to do your best!" he chuckled before walking off.

I wasn't annoyed with what he said, he was clearly trying to rile me up so I wouldn't have a problem with killing Vampires, who he thought I might like or be acquainted with. Jokes on him, though, because I hate just about every Vampire in this godforsaken facility.

Without a word, I and Mia followed not so far behind him. I kept my senses tuned to their maximum as I sensed for any threats near us.

But as I was doing that I finally had some chance to take in the corridor. The white, clean floor was now covered in ash and burn marks on the walls were in the shape of people, or more specifically their skeletons.

I was surprisingly unaffected by these scenes but chalked it up to there being no gore, so there wasn't much to get sick about. But Mia, on the other hand, looked pale and like she was about to throw up her breakfast. To calm her, I slipped my little hand into hers and gave her slender hand a tight squeeze.

This knocked her out of her stupor and she looked down at me. I reassuringly smiled at her before dragging her along so we were a bit closer to Blade. What I missed was the unnatural desire in Mia's eyes when she was looking at me.

Oblivious to the weird things happening in Mia's head, I heard a sudden splitting of sound to the right of us.

I instantly raised my arm and caught something Blade had thrown at me; A silver stake. The silver caused a low hiss when it came into contact with my palm but I ignored it and looked to the rushing Vampires that came from a side corridor next to us.

3 Vampires, each one wearing combat gear. They each had stun batons which flickered with Arcs of electricity. The tallest of the Vampires stepped forward, "Daywalker, we're here to capture you...come peacefully and--!" he couldn't continue as I rushed at him, silver stake in hand, aimed at his chest.

He instantly brought his stun baton to stop the stake while also electrocuting me through the electricity that would travel through the stake.

But to his surprise, I dropped to my knees and slid across the floor. Before he could react I sent the stake through his knee with a sickening crunch.

I thought I'd be disgusted by the feeling and the gore I was seeing but weirdly enough I was...excited? Like I was doing my favorite activity.

I inwardly let out a sigh, thinking about how messed up my genetics made me. The instincts in my head were reveling at the possible bloodshed I could get into right now.

Back to the present, I ripped the stake from the vampire's leg before swinging my own leg at his in a brutal leg sweep.

My insane strength and speed made it so my leg went completely through the already injured leg, making it explode in a mini-fountain of blood and gore, which only served to raise my heartbeat even higher in elation.

"Arghhhh!" the soldier screamed as his lack of a leg and my completed leg sweep caused him to fall to the ground, all the while he felt the terrifying pain originating from his leg.

But I was done.

I followed my instincts, letting my leg sweep's momentum carry me around before I brought my leg to the ground and stood up. When I was fully up, I brought my foot into the air before slamming it down in a sort of curb stomp.

"Argh! F*c--" his line of agonizing pain was cut off by me stamping on his head, making it explode like a watermelon.

Some splatters of blood flicked onto my face, making my normally cute face look positively demonic.

I looked over at the other two soldiers who were staring, dazed at what I'd just done. I couldn't blame them, if I saw a child crush a man's head, I'd be a bit stunned.

One of them came out of his stupor and charged at me. I coldly looked at him, thinking about how sh*t of a fighter he was compared to Blade.

I flicked up the dead Vampires shock baton with my foot before sidestepping the charge of the new challenger. I watched as he ran past me and flexed my legs, jumping onto his back. He felt me jump on and trying to hit me with his baton.

I held the attacking arm by the wrist and stabbed my own baton into his revealed neck. They really should wear armor.

I dug the baton into his neck, using my brutish strength to literally bury the baton in his throat. I leaped off his back, leaving him along to fall and twitch on the floor as he slowly burned to death from the electricity flowing through his body--

*Poof!*

...Or until his head exploded.

The last soldier seeing me destroy his comrades, just turned around to run but feeling the stake in my hand, I trusted my instincts once more and threw the stake with deadly force behind it.

*Shlick!*

"Arghh!" the vampire fell to his knees before he went up in flames and burst into ashes. Seeing my work was done, I turned around to Blade and Mia. Seeing the slight horror on Mia's face, I quickly realized I was manically smiling, which I replaced with a neutral look as soon as possible.

Blade, on the other hand, looked like a kid on Christmas who'd just got everything he'd put on his wish list. He walked over to me and clapped his hand on my shoulder, "You've got killer instinct...Good..." was all he said before walking off again.

I looked over at Mia who wouldn't meet my eyes, she just walked next to me and then past me. Seeing her do that hurt, quite a bit actually, but I guess she was just shocked that I wasn't the innocent boy she'd come to care about. No, instead I was a born and bred weapon. She'd come to terms with it at some point.

Resolving myself that I'd talk to her later, I jogged to catch up to the two. That was when I saw two people cowering in front of Blade. Arthur and Sergei.

The earlier bloodthirsty smile which I wiped off my face was now back at full power as I looked at two people I really wanted to 'talk' to.
