4 Arrival

I felt the liquid slowly work its way around my body, sliding its way into my muscles and then somehow into my bones and the marrow inside them.

My organs were filled with a vigorous feeling as the liquid sunk into them like they were a sponge sucking up water. This process was always a mystical one for me as it felt like the liquid had a mind and it knew where to go and what to do.

Just feeling it slowly tempering my body and unlocking the secrets inside was something that felt pretty good actually. Not to mention the ego boost it gave when I knew my power would once again increase after this.

Mia saw the look of relaxation on my face and the barely veiled looked of excitement as well. She chuckled, "Don't get too cocky after this upgrade, Alex, you may be stronger than us Normal Vampires but we still hold the advantage in terms of fighting experience...plus, you wouldn't want to hurt little ol' me, now would you~?" she blinked her pretty eyes teasingly at me as she pretended to be pitiful.

I wryly smiled before shaking my head. What I didn't tell her was that fighting experience wouldn't be a problem for me as whatever they'd been awakening inside of me already had combat instincts and even though that wouldn't fully bridge the fighting experience gap, it wouldn't make it as much as a big deal.

But she was right in the fact that I wouldn't hurt her...not if she didn't do anything to betray my trust at least.

Seeing my answer, Mia beamed a smile, seemingly very happy with my answer before she got back to looking at results from my blood.

Seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to dozens of minutes and finally, the warm feeling inside my body was gone. Replacing it was a feeling of pure and raw power. I strained at the metal holding my arms down and heard satisfying creaks and groans from the metal that didn't seem so hard anymore.

Mia saw this and chuckled before pressing the button to release the metal restraints, causing my arm to shoot up and nearly curve back and hit my face. Luckily my superior reflexes helped me stop the fist. I looked over and glared at Mia, unknowingly having a childish pout on my face.

Mia simply chuckled with her hands over her mouth, her eyes full of mirth, "Ohohoh~ Don't be angry with me, my sweet little Alex, it was just a joke~" she continued laughing, so I just decided to ignore her and stood up.

"Haah~ Sorry Alex but you were just asking to be teased...Anyway, come over here so I can jot down your height and weight," she still had lights of mirth floating around in her amber eyes but at least she wasn't laughing anymore. For some reason I can't stand her laughing at me, it's slightly troublesome.

Anyway, I walked over to a measurement area of the little treatment room Mia had and stood on the scale which slightly groaned when I did so. Mia, expecting this didn't show any surprise at my surprising weight.

"Hmmm...102kg, you're weight keeps increasing along with the density of your body...it's slightly worrying..." she paused for a moment before looking at me with serious eyes, the earlier mirth completely gone, "Do you experience any lack of flexibility during your daily activities, Alex? Or lack of breath for that matter?"

I shook my head, "Not really, Mia. I don't feel heavy at all, well from my perspective that is...I guess I just have the strength to carry the weight of my body, and my flexibility's fine, I'm not turning into a solid Rock, you know?" I smirked at her which caused her serious and slightly worried face to melt away, replacing it with a bright smile.

"Hmmm~ You only know how to make me worried, Alex~" she ruffled my hair once again, knowing how much I despise it, "Then let's measure your height."

She moved my body right next to a 2m tall ruler and pushed my body straight against it, making sure I was standing at my straightest.

"48 inches or 121cm, you really are big for a 4-year-old as well...Guess it's your Oni genes, they were said to be massive demons, after all~" Mia wrote all this down on her little notepad while I watched.

She continued writing for a few more minutes, noting down everything she'd found out so far. When she was done, she looked down at me and smiled, "Haah~ Finally done, so, you wanna go get something to eat, Ale--!"

*BANG!* *BOOOOOM!*

Before Mia could finish what she said, a massive boom of sound followed by the faint feeling of heat flooded the room.

The sound had come from outside of the room and further down the hallway. The booming was still ringing in my ears but I could hear screaming and gunshots from down the hallway.

Hellish screams and smaller explosions followed the gunshots. Occasionally my unnaturally keen hearing would hear something cutting through the air, like a blade of some kind.

Mia was pale, paler than Arthur and he looked like he hadn't seen the sun in millennia (for obvious reasons). It was like she knew what was happening.

"Mia, what's happening?" I asked with a calmness that surprised both me and Mia. She looked down at me before looking at the door where heavy footsteps were getting closer.

She quickly pulled me behind her and looked at me, "I'll protect you, okay, Alex? But as soon as you see a chance, run, okay?" her voice was urgent, going on manic and her eyes were full of sadness, "You have to promise me you'll run and not turn back no matter what you hear, okay? Promise me!" she raised her voice at me for the first time ever and I was genuinely surprised. Mia had never lost her cool, no matter what, so what was slowly walking to the door? What had made its way into this facility that caused Vampires to sh*t themselves?

The door slowly opened to reveal my answer.

"Daywalker...!" Mia hissed as she firmly hid me behind her but still, I could see what she was glaring at and it thoroughly shocked me.

Blade?!?!?
