1 Strange Questionnaire

"Shit, you bastard duck down! You're completely exposed! You basket-case, get the f*ck down!"

In a dark bedroom, Alex was cursing loudly. To many this was a completely normal thing since when one has to game and besides taking care to kill his enemies he still has to maintain a vigilant eye on his teammates, or more easily carrying them.

He was completely absorbed on what was going on. From his point of view, he didn't see anything but explosions and traces of bullets.

He knew that trusting in random people was one of the most dangerous things one could do while playing but he couldn't be considered neither popular nor famous. Although he couldn't be considered a top player he still was among the top 10 of his country.

Just as he was about to take a turn, he suddenly felt danger and backed up to the cover of the wall. Right at that moment a barrage of bullets came down on the place where he just was. Still a bullet managed to pierce his shoulder. He grimaced at the pain as he took some bandages to stanch the bleeding. This game wasn't like the normal immersion VR ones. Most of the normal immersion VR games were like an adaption of normal games where one would have a hp bar and each attack would deal a certain amount of damage.

But not, Slaughter Field. Here one would experience a simulation of real battlefield. So no hp bar, no special moves, no hp potions. One could die from shrapnel as one could die from a falling building.

He tried to look, to see where those bastards were but it seemed that those opponents were edgy as every time he tried to pry his head they would welcome him with bouquets of bullets.

"Shit! Hey you guys, where the f*ck are you!?"

He never hoped for any help but he still tried to call them. After some time of only hearing static and gunshots, he reached the conclusion that besides him his whole team had been eliminated.

'F*ckers! If I knew that they were this bad I wouldn't have betted my account and all my money on this round.'

He was getting riled up. He had betted his whole savings and his diamond account on this round.

The barrage didn't stop. As time passed, he knew that he would have less chance of making an overturn.

After some time deliberating on what to do, Alex finally steeled himself. He took a deep breath and decided to make a run for it.

The moment the gunfire stopped he rushed out fire from the places where he had ascertained that some opponents were. But when they say 'There's no 1 without 2', they meant it.

Not long after killing 2, Alex was shot on the head.

........

In the dark bedroom, Alex slowly took his headset off his face. One would have thought that he would be on the verge of crying or a mental breakdown but one could only see pity on his face.

"...Ah..." Alex breath out. He knew that he had put in jeopardy his survival, but so what?

Alex got up slowly while calmly packed up his old head set in its spot and walked to the bathroom to freshen up. Opening the tap and wetting his face with cold water, he grinned, 'Even though I lost money, lost my account, so what? I can still gain more money and build a new account. This is not the end of the world.'.

He walked back to his desk and opened the browser on the already set up manga page. Even though he like to play VR games, his true passion was manga, anime and sometimes some novels.

In fact, one of the main reasons for betting all his money and gaming account was to get money to buy a limited edition figurine of HunterxHunter, Netero with the Poor Man's Rose on his chest. It was one of his hobbies to let off steam and to get away from the madness of reality.

He started reading with delight the manga HunterxHunter. Although the Godly author of the manga, Yoshihiro Togashi, didn't release many chapters he still enjoyed reading again and again. Alex also enjoyed watching the anime but since the news about the season 2 were almost zero he decided to read the manga.

He simply like all the premise of a special occupation, monsters, crazy adventures and most of all Nen. About the characters he didn't really had an attachment to any of the main protagonists but he still liked to see their progression through the manga.

After some time, he reached once again at the last chapter. Alex always liked to reflect a little about the whole story after he reached the end, he seemed to gain a new understanding every time he read it all over from the beginning.

All of the sudden, a pop-up message appeared on the screen. Unlike all the famous ones like the Cucumber Growth Lotion or the Pokemilf Radar, this one was simply a sentence.

"If you are an avid reader of manga and have ever dreamed about magical opportunities, click here."

Normally, Alex would close it and be done with it. But something about it seemed different and as a VR gamer that always followed his instincts, it wasn't this time that he wouldn't follow.

He clicked on the pop up and was redirected to another page. In this page there was a 5 question questionnaire. Alex laughed but he still wanted to see what kind of questionnaire was this.

1.are you an avid Manga/Anime/Novel Reader?

Alex didn't even need time to think, "Yes."

2.Do you spend many hours on Manga/Anime/Novel?

"Yes."

3.Have you ever wished to be part of any Manga/Anime/Novel, if yes say which one:

"Well, this one is easy. HunterxHunter and choosing between the manga or the anime, in terms of simplicity I would choose the anime and after the end of the anime, the manga."

The moment he answered the topic, the page refreshed. In the place of the questionnaire appeared one other topic. Reading it, Alex was marveled at the effort the people who did this pop-up scam went to get attention.

4.If you had the chance of choosing some kind of perk or talent to take with you, choose 1 from the following list:

-Accelerated Healing

-Danger Sense

-Strength/Speed/Stamina Major Boost (Only 1)

-God-Blessed Constitution [Choosing this one, would make one to have unbound physical prowess but in exchange will only live for 3 years no matter the circumstances]

-Limitless Learning Capacity [Balance is needed. Choosing this will make on to have unmatched brain and soul but in exchange one's body prowess will be several degrees lower than a normal adult human]

After reading this one, for a moment Alex became a bit more interested on the questionnaire. He sincerely hadn't delved into the topic but somehow whenever he read or saw HunterxHunter, in one way or another the thought would casually pass.

"Mmmm... this one is a little hard. In a world like HunterxHunter, where danger is around the corner with ferocious monsters and sadistic criminals, one had to make the best rational and logical decisions to be able to live."

He looked at the first option and began to ponder, "Mmm... Accelerated Healing is a good and safe option but it's also a bad one since we can't ascertain how good that healing is. Will it heal only external and some internal injuries or will it be able to regenerate arms and legs or even be like Deadpool? So for now let's scratch that one."

Healing could be nice but in the risk that one could be dead from a decapitation, it wasn't a wise choice. He looked at the next one, "This one is also interesting but stupid. It's good to be able sense danger but will one be able to react to it or even be able to evade it? Since I can´t answer this question, scratch this option too."

The next ones, made Alex's heartbeat. Either of them were tempting. The God-Blessed Constitution and the Limitless Learning Capacity.

'Both of them would make one be able to survive and even accomplish awesome things in HunterxHunter. But both of them also have cons that could prove fatal if they aren't already.'

It was a complex choice, but an interesting one. As he was pondering the pros and cons in his mind, he realized that he was spending too much effort on a silly questionnaire.

"It doesn't matter which one I choose, so let's once again follow my dear instincts on this one!"

He clicked on his answer and the last and final topic appeared. When he read the topic he was left with a feeling confusion.

5. Choose one:

-5 years [Orphan on a small village]

-10 years [Orphan in Meteor City]

-___ years old. [Orphan in Dark Continent]

Reading the options carefully, Alex frowned his brow. The Dark Continent option was immediately crossed as the danger was too high. The other two on the other hand where sketchy. Although being in Meteor City could prove to be dangerous and difficult it could also open some doors that the safety of a small unknown village gave.

'Why even care, uhn? I always had curiosity about the Phantom Troupe so the hell with it.'

The moment he chose the option, the screen turned dark only with a small sentence, "Bon Voyage.". And he lost consciousness.
