13 Advanced Nen X Goals X

3RD PERSON

Bang's Dojo

Ever since Amon had managed to master the basics of the WSRSF, Bang had started teaching Amon the advanced Nen, like Shu, Ken, In, Ko, Ryu and Gyo.

One thing Amon noticed was that even though Bang's method of teaching was similar to Biscuit Krueger's, it was more refined. For example, when Biscuit was teaching Gon and Killua Shu, she told them to dig a lot with shovels basically, while Bang had me training with a sword every day for hours while he explained and discussed the profundities of Shu. He didn't do anything like tying ropes to rocks and making Amon hold onto the rope while he slept so that if he let go the rock would drop on him.

Amon was very glad, even though it would have taught him Shu quicker, he figured he had enough time. Eventually after mastering Shu and being able to apply his Nen objects easily, Bang introduced Ko, Ken and Ryu.

There were not many short cuts to learning these, the only way was practice and sparring (unless you were a one in a bajillion nen genius). Amon built up his Ken by defending against Ko attacks from Bang. There was also the usual Nen control exercises like trying to shape numbers with Nen while running, floating hand, which was basically getting into a handstand position and then emitting a strong aura to launch yourself towards the sky, there were also many other exercises, but Amon hadn't started on those yet.

Ryu was the hardest though. One thing that helped was his Water Stream martial technique. Bang had said that Ryu was the distribution of aura throughout one's body that could be changed. Which meant the faster and more fluidly one could exchange nen around the body, the lesser chances an experienced Nen user would notice how you were going to attack.

For example, your opponent has just punched you, but you have blocked by putting a lot of your Nen into your arms, now it's your turn to attack. Your opponent uses Gyo on you to see which limb the Nen is flowing towards and then predicts where to block. But if you are fast and smooth enough to keep on changing your Nen distribution, then this way even experienced Nen users would fail to predict where the attack is coming from, or whether it is a kick or punch.

As water was fluid and could easily flow from one place to another, it was a lot easier for Amon to get the basics down in Ryu, as he already had experienced doing it with his fighting style. Overall, Amon had made a lot of progress in the few months he was here, he'd accomplished basic mastery in Shu, Ken, Ko and Ryu.

MC POV

During one of my training sessions with Bang, he asked me a question that dumbfounded me. It wasn't hard, it would have been simple for a lot of people but for me it was really difficult as I hadn't really thought about that subject yet. No the question was not 'a** or t**s?' It was 'What do I want to do when I grow up?'

At first when I was asked this question, I was like, easy... But then I realized I had no parents that wanted me to become something, (except Father and mother of course, but I have already escaped from being an heir to the family). In my previous life, the job I wanted wasn't due to this big dream of helping people, it was just due to convenience, I would earn money and my parents would be happy.

But now in this mysterious fantasy world, money wasn't a problem for me, as for parents, eventually I would get strong enough so that they wouldn't be able to force me to do anything. So I was really lost on what to do. Become the leader of a country? Eh, f*ck that. Become the strongest? Sounds interesting but then that would mean I would have to challenge every single strong creature in the world, and I don't think I can beat Nanika or those Dark Continent monsters ever.

Being Immortal. Immortality was something that really interested me, I remember in my previous life, I would lie down on my bed and just think that what was the point in continuing life if I might die anytime. That would keep me up for ages. The concept of immortality wasn't really explored in Hunter X Hunter, apart from clues like how Gon's ancestor, or he might not be, Don Freeccs was still alive and currently over 300 years of age.

Then reading Reverend Insanity also warped my taste to mortality, like even if you leave your mark on the world, eventually it would still turn to dust or something. Also whenever I used to watch anime, no matter how op the MC got, all I would think of is 'too bad he will die of old age.'

That was why I started reading Xianxia and web novels. The only thing, I could find worth pursing for my whole life is immortality, and preferably also being able to give it to friends. Maybe if I asked Nanika for immortality it would work, probably not though, something about selfish wishes...

------------------------------------------------------------------

A few days had passed and I was going to tell Bang what I wanted to do, hope he doesn't be all like 'The Heavens do not permit Immortality, be vanquished demon!' I shuddered when I thought of that, I doubt it. Bang is a nice old man.

"Hey old man! I mean master!" I shout after I finally find Bang sitting on a chair beside the river and sipping tea... just what you'd expect from an old secluded expert.

"Haha, I've told you already, call me whatever you want, after all, I am only going to be teaching you for a few more years!" Bang said to me, even though he had said that to me a couple of times, except from being tempted to say 'Yo old fool', I still continued to call him master or Sensei, sometimes old man...

"I know, but forget that, I have decided what I wanted to do!" I said. Bang raised his brow and looked at me curiously. "I will explore every all world, make friends, after that purse IMMORTALITY!" I said excitedly. Sometimes I think I'm not actually a reincarnated 18 year old but a normal 8 year old sometimes.

Bang after looking at me deeply with his light blue eyes for a few seconds before he finally asked, "Legit?"...He actually said,"Are you sure," after I nodded his face contorted and he started laughing while throwing his head back. I was hella confused, yea it unrealistic but is it really that funny. After laughing until tears crinkled the corner of his eyes, I finally snapped.

"Hey! Old man! Aren't you going to say something else?!" I shouted at him.

"What should I say, your goals are yours alone, I don't care what you do, it's your life. Of course, I want you to keep in mind that one day, I will get you to become the Master of this Dojo, even for a bit until you take on a student."

I already knew this. I guess I was a bit surprised he wouldn't give advice, something on the lines of 'it's good to have dreams but sometimes being too delusional is too dangerous.' Instead of that, the vibes I got from Bang were 'Understandable, have a great life.'

"*sigh* Okay, anyway weren't we supposed to start In training today?" I said to Bang.
