5 Chapter 4: Testing out powers and an unexpected encounter

A few days have passed now since Jin's family left him. After that incident Jin was now determined, now more than ever, to leave this house, but not anytime soon though as he still needed a safe place to stay.

Right now he was sitting on his bed, trying to figure out what his future plans should be. For now, he planned to try out and practice using his new acquired powers. But first he needed to find a safe place were he could test them out, otherwise, if he tried them inside the house, It will be disastrous. So with that in mind, he quickly stood up from his bed and proceeded to get changed into some appropriate clothing before heading downstairs and heading outside.

"Alright this place should do." Jin stated , as he was now seen deep in the woods, surrounded by a numerous amount of trees

He figured that this was the most appropriate place to test out his newfound powers, without being seen or alerting anyone.

"Ok lets get started."

With that being said, Jin abruptly rose his right hand up and shortly after a golden portal appeared, In which a red pointed hilt was soon seen slowly coming out of it. With a quick grabbing motion, Jin put his hand on the hilt and quickly began pulling It out, allowing the weapon to slowly come into view.

In Jin's hand right now was a long, crimson blood colored, barbed spear that was right now radiating a serious amount of bloodlust, showing as proof to the countless amount of people it has killed.

Jin couldn't help but be fascinated and at the same time feel a bit fearful towards the spear in his hands.

"So this is gae bulg huh?"

*Thud*

"Ugh" Jin muttered as the spear dropped to the floor, pulling his arm along with it. He tried lifting it up again, but he was barely able keep his balance while holding it and In the end he was pulled by the spear towards the floor again.

" *Huff* I guess I won't be able to hold it anytime soon with this tiny body of mine." Jin said after realizing that he wouldn't be able to handle the spear yet, after a while of trying to lift it up, only to be met with failure.

"sigh, I guess I will need to start training my body more to be able to handle this and any of the other weapons that are in the gate of Babylon. So for now, lets try using my slaying magic." Jin said, as he put the spear back into his gate of Babylon before immediately then getting into a stance.

With his legs spread apart, and his arms spread, and fist clenched Jin open his mouth wide open and began inhaling in the air.

"Lightning Dragon..."

Soon lightning began to appear in the air, which quickly began gathering inside his mouth. After a while, not being able to hold it in any longer, he quickly open his mouth and release it out.

"ROAR!"

A beam of lighting soon shot out of his mouth and hit a nearby tree, completely tearing a hole through it, before it hit another tree, where it abruptly came to a stop, leaving the tree completely scorched.

"Whoa..." Jin was left speechless.

"So that's dragon slayer magic huh?" he muttered after getting out of his daze.

"It's not as strong as I imagine it to be , but I guess that's natural right now since I'm still just a kid and It's my first time using magic. Alright then, onto god slayer magic." Jin said, not realizing that if any magician, or any other being of the supernatural world were to see this, they will be left completely shocked knowing that a 9 year old child was able to release such a powerful magical attack, that was comparable to a full powered attack from a low class devil, and on their first time trying at that, without any prior knowledge or training.

"Sky god..."

With his right arm held back into a throwing position, black wind started circling around his hand in great amounts.

"BOREAS!" He soon yelled out as he launched his arm forward.

What followed next was a tornado of dark wind blades that hit another nearby tree, completely shredding it apart and causing the surrounding ground to be left with many deep cuts.

"Cool. Ok, now next and lastly is devil slayer magic." Jin said as he made his way towards a nearby large rock.

Stopping just a few inches away, he soon moved both his hands to his side into a quickdraw position.

"I always wanted do this." Jin said with a bit of excitement laced in his voice.

"Ice demon..." soon his surrounding temperature began to drop as ice rapidly started forming in his hands, which quickly began condensing into a long blade.

"ZERO LONG SWORD!" he soon yelled out as he swiftly did a quickdraw motion with the now finished fully formed ice sword, aiming straight for the large rock.

*Slice*

The Rock was soon abruplty cut clean in half, as the top half quickly began sliding off from the bottom half.

*thud*

"*Huff**Huff*Huff* Is this my limit?" Jin tiredly said as he fell to the ground

He stood like that for a while, laying on the ground, trying to catch his breath, before he soon got back up.

" So as of now I can only use a maximum of 3 full powered attacks before running out of mana huh? I guess I'm going to need to also focus on increasing my mana capacity then. But for now, I think I'll call it a day. "

Saying that, Jin abruptly turned around towards the direction he came from and began walking back, making his way back home.

'Hmm I wonder what I should eat for today?' Jin pondered as he was making his way back home, walking through the streets of Kuoh, passing by many street vendors who were offering and selling their goods and items.

Deciding that he was too lazy to cook anything and figuring that he could just buy something to eat from one of the nearby street vendors, Jin walked towards the nearest vendor, and purchased an order of takoyaki.

After a while, having received his order, he went ahead and made his way towards a faraway bench, where, if he looked closer, a little girl could be seen sitting there with her head buried in between her legs. Deciding to just ignore her though, he proceeded to take the empty space next to her and soon began to start eating.

*Sniff**sniff**sniff*

"Hmm?" Jin curiously turn his head to the side.

"M-m-mommy, where are you?" the girl next to him began to cry, obviously scared, as it seemed that she was lost as evident from her previous words.

*Munch* *munch * *gulp*

"Hey, want some?" Jin soon said to the girl, having realized that the girl was lost.

"Huh?" the girl replied confusingly, as she sticked her head out.

"I'm asking you if you would like to have some" Jin replied as he pointed his finger towards the food in his hand,

"Oh!" The girl said in realization.

"Well, do you want some or not?"

"My mother said not to accept random things from strangers."

"She sounds like a smart woman, but I'm just a kid just like you so there's no harm done. Right?" Jin argued

"Umm, I guess so?"

"Then do you want some?"

"Umm, yes?"

"Alright then here have some. They taste pretty good."

"Ah! o-ok" the girl replied before she went ahead and reached out her little hand for a ball of takoyaki, which she then proceeded to take a bite out of.

"Wowww!" the girl said with starry eyes

"Good right?"

"Mhmm"

"Well then, now that your feeling better, can you tell me what's wrong?"

*Gulp* "Ummm, w-well its just that, I seem to have been separated from my mother and now I cant find her." she said, in the verge of tears

"Well, when did you last see her?"

"Um, I believe I last saw her at the park."

"Well then, See?, she's probably there so there is no need to be scared. Come on lets go meet up with her.

"Yeah" she cheered

"By the way I'm Jin what's yours?"

"Oh! I'm Akeno"
