14 Air bending

(Air Bending Temple)

Korra, Gon, and Tenzin were walking towards the Air bending temple. The atmosphere was tense because Korra and Gon were running away all those years ago, and Tenzin was still angry at them for doing that.

They finally got to the gates of the Air bending temple, and at this moment, Tenzin decided to speak.

"You said that you would tell me when we got her," Tenzin growled, "Now, tell me."

"I was alone, no friends nothing," Korra said, "And in a way, Gon saved me. He showed me the world as is, not what the White lotus told me. I am not naive. I am strong."

"If you had just told them, I am sure the White lotus would have made arrangements for friends to come over," Tenzin said.

"But, would it have been real?" Korra asked, "Could I trust them to have stood with me through thick and thin as Gon did. No, even not use me as a trophy."

Tenzin did not know what to say. He tried to refute Korra's claims, but he also knew in his heart that she was right. The White lotus, in a way, did limit her. Nothing about politics got taught to her, and even if it was, how could she socialize if she had no friends. He couldn't imagine it.

Tenzin knew that if Aang never had his friends, the fire nation would have won. Aang nearly died multiple times and was saved by Katara's healing or Toph's fighting, etc. His father needed a team, and so did Korra. He had to admit that she was right though it was grudgingly.

"I am sorry, Korra, for misjudging you but, you were still a kid when you ran and are still now," Tenzin said, "You could have gotten kidnapped by bad guys or worse killed. It is dangerous."

"We know," Gon said, deciding to interject, "But that has only made us stronger. We learned from our mistakes and became masters in our respective bending styles from this. Conflict will always meet an Avatar. I would rather Korra had gotten some teaching other than spars that can only do much before she faced it."

"I relent," Tenzin said, deciding not to continue arguing with kids, "Let us go inside."

Korra and Gon walked through the gates to see the beautiful Air temples that looked so peaceful. The serene environment put them in a trance. They felt at peace with themselves.

"Well, are you just going to stand there or come in," Tenzin said.

Korra and Gon quickly rushed into the temple once they had both entered a woman said, "Hello."

"Who are you," Korra asked.

"Hi, I am Pema, Tenzin's wife," Pema answered.

"Hey, mom, who are the guests?" A child asked.

"This is Korra, the Avatar, and I do not know the other one's name," Pema said.

"So, you are the runaway avatar that has been pissing off my dad for so long, Coool!!!" Meelo said, "Anyway, my name is Meelo."

"I am Ikki," Ikki said, "Are you the Avatar? How strong are you? Where were you?"

"Calm down, Ikki," Pema said.

"Okaaaaay," Ikki huffed.

"I am Jinora, the smart one," Jinora said.

"Hey guys, I am Korra, and this is Gon," Korra said, "Gon, that is your cue."

"Hi, I am Gon, a water bender who formerly lived in the White lotus camps."

"I thought you were a dual bender," Tenzin inquired, "Also, who is your father."

"Well, guess the secrets out. I am the first-ever dual bender," Gon said, "My father is the hero himself ##. A man who abandoned his child because he didn't have bending."

(Any suggestions for the dad's name.)

"Let us stop talking about this topic," Korra said, seeing Gon's enraged face.

"Why are you guys here?" Tenzin asked.

"Korra needs to learn air bending, and since you are the only known air bender..." Gon said.

"I will teach her how to air bend if she proves that she has mastered all the other elements," Tenzin said, "If not, she will be going to the White lotus for more training."

Gon and Korra looked at each other and smirked.

"Deal," Korra said.

Tenzin was surprised. He did not think that a child at her age would have mastered the elements. His father was a different case, he had prodigies teaching him, but she was just with Gon. He started to think that they were just arrogant. After all, it had taken him many years of his life to master only air properly. Korra was just a kid in his eyes.

"Ikki, Meelo, Jinora come and watch the test," Tenzin said, "Are you ready Korra."

"Yes," Korra said.

Tenzin went into his fighting stance and attacked, creating wind slashes aimed at Korra. Korra dodges both of the slices and used just propulsion to move towards Tenzin at high speeds. Before she knew it she was there she quickly used a light damage fall to hit Tenzain, causing him to fly but not get burned.

Ikki, Meelo, and Jinora watched as their father flew back.

"Haha, Daddy's losing to the Avatar," Meelo said.

"Don't be meant to your Father," Pema said.

Tenzin seeing that he got blasted away, decided to turn this up a notch. He started speedily moving using wind to boost him and attacked Korra with an air blast. Korra quickly dodged the explosion, but Tenzin knew this and dished out a second one causing Korra to get hit and fall to the ground. Korra immediately stood up, bending a large rock and throwing it at Tenzin, but he dodged. Tenzin then proceeded to punch Korra in the stomach and slash hit her with air.

"Guess I have to use my last technique," Korra said.

Korra started to bend all the sweat that she had amassed from the fight, she and quickly blasted it at Tenzin. Tenzin dodged, Korra had prepared for this and had redirected all the water to hit Tenzin in the back.

At that moment, Tenzin smiled, dodged, and started to blast winds at her. Before she could get hurt, Gon stepped in and put up an ice wall to block the hits.

Tenzin fell onto the grounding huffing.

"Ok, I have got to admit, you have mastered the elements," Tenzin said, "You have earned the rights to learn air bending."
