24 After

"Aaah," Gon screamed.

It was a week after the first mission and he still could not forget the atrocities that had been done to the women and children. It was just too close to home. He too had suffered from many unspeakable things before his transmigration and seeing those children made him feel worse. He could not save all of them. All he could do was watch with guilty at the soulless eyes of the mothers who had lost their children unable to look away.

Suddenly the door opened. Gon turned from his position to see who it was and standing there was Korra.

Korra woke to a shout. She quickly got dressed and ran towards Gon's room.

"What happened?" Korra questioned.

"Nothing, just a bad dream," Gon replied while wiping the tears from his eyes.

Korra looked at Gon again and asked, "What happened!!!"

"Nothing!!!" Gon said for the second time.

"This is the fifth time this week that I've heard your shouts. If you do not tell me what is happening then I cannot help you," Korra said, "Please let me help you!"

Gon looked at Korra and saw a look of worry plastered on her face. He wanted to tell, of course he did. They had faced so much together and probably would face more but he could not put that much of a burden on her. She was an Avatar that was already too much of a burden.

Gon with a sad look spoke, "I want to, but I can't."

"Just tell me Korra," screamed in an almost begging way, "You want saved me, now let me save you!"

"I am sorry" Gon answered softly before looking away.

"Fine!!!" Korra shouted before walking away.

Gon sighed turning back to face the door. He really did wish he could tell her.

(An hour later)

Gon walked in to have breakfast with the Airbenders and Korra. He waved to greet all of them and in return they all waved back except Korra who turned her head away as she was angry.

Korra felt betrayed. Her and Gon had been through so much and yet her still could not talk to her about his problems. This pissed her off greatly.

Gon quickly sat down and started to eat quietly.

"Oooo!!! Gon and Korra are having a lovers quarrel," Jinora exclaimed.

Meelo not knowing what that was decided to ask, "Um guys, what's a lovers quarrel?"

"Well i- "Ikki spoke before her sister blocked her mouth.

"You'll find out when you are older," Tenzin replied looking ten times older.

"Anyways," Jinora said, "Have you guys heard of the vigilante group Worthless? They are so cool."

Gon smiled at this.

"They aren't cool they are just murderers who take the law into their hands unjustly," Korra stated with a look of disgust.

"What do you know?" Gon shouted in anger, "They save people."

Korra looked at Gon in shock expecting him to have agreed with her. They had been together for so long and had usually agreed with each other. To Korra it seemed as if her and Gon were slowly moving to different paths in life, his to the dark.

"So, what, it isn't right!!!" Korra replied.

''Things aren't as black and white as that, "Gon argued, "Those people that the vigilantes killed were rapist, murderers and human traffickers. They'd killed so many people and if left alive would kill more!!!"

Korra looked at Gon with shock. She could not believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. She knew about the atrocities committed by these men and was angry, but never would she want to kill someone because of it.

"The law is there to protect us," Kora shouted, "Without it there would be chaos."

"How is the law helping non-benders or even fighting off gangs like the triad?" Gon questioned, "If you can give me one argument that is sound then I'll shut up and stop spouting bullshit."

"They have me!!!" Korra spoke.

"Do you want me to answer that?" Gon asked.

Seeing the mood Tenzin decided to speak, "Guys calm down. It is okay to have different opinions."

"I am the Ava-," Korra said before being cutoff.

"You are not god. You are just like the rest of us human. Saying that you're the Avatar can't magically solve a solution," Gon replied.

"Fine, if you think that way then I'll leave," Korra spoke standing up and walking away.

Everyone looked at Gon in surprise. He had always cared for and protected Korra. This was the first time that they had seen him shout at her.

"Why did you say that to Korra?" Tenzin asked.

"She needed to hear it." Gon quickly answered.

"Don't you think that was too much?" Jinora wondered.

"No, it wasn't," Gon announced, "Korra has a god complex and needs to lose it or else it will be the end of her. That pride she that she has is too much."

"I understand your words but, why now," Tenzin asked.

"Because of everything. Her giving in to the pressure and joining the taskforce and her calling other people's opinions wrong. It pissed me off," Gon stated.

"I am going to go," Gon announced as he walked in the direction of republic city.
