151 May The Best Man Win

The rest of the day wasn't very eventful. In the end, I had to ask Fina for help on finding a restaurant. In which, she took us to the restaurant she worked at.

"Oh, Fina! Are you here with your friends?" [???]

Fina introduced us to her boss, the four armed female giant. She greeted us with a smile and served us with politeness. The food was… fantastic taste wise. It looked really weird though. I couldn't say that green colored steak would actually taste good.

("If my memory serves me right, the giantess' name is… Dalon?") [Solace]

"Ah, let me introduce myself. My name is Talon." [???]

Close enough. Anyway, I paid for the meal using the money I earned from the quests I did with Fina, while also learning a new fact during the meal.

"Leon, why were you in the adventurer's guild? Did you go to register?" [Solace]

"I'm an adventurer." [Leon]

"Really? What rank are you?" [Fina]

"C." [Leon]

Well damn. I didn't think she would be a higher rank than either me or Fina. I did invite her to do some questing, but she denied it.

"I need money for myself. You're too low rank." [Leon]

That's what she said after the meal. We then went our separate ways.

After working on questing for the rest of the week, the tournament came around. Turns out, the colosseum that Leyhna took Fina to near the time I was reincarnated here was rented out.

"You're a participant?" [Fina]

"Yeah?" [Solace]

We stood in line waiting to enter the colosseum.

"Aren't you supposed to be in the fighter's lane?" [Leyhna]

"...Am I?" [Solace]

I looked around to find a line of people with a sign at the end reading "Fighter's Line".

"Oh." [Solace]

I parted from Fina and Leyhna and stepped into the fighter's line with a feeling of insecurity. You see, I'm not very extroverted so I simply went silent until I arrived at the front.

"Next!" [Receptionist]

There was a lady who had dark brown hair before me. She comfortably sat behind a wooden booth in a strange attire. I guess the white cap with a feather sticking out was part of the uniform.

"Hello." [Solace]

I approached her as she motioned at me.

"Name?" [Receptionist]

"Alt." [Solace]

"...Full name." [Receptionist]

"Oh. Alt Account." [Solace]

I felt a bit embarrassed.

"Here." [Receptionist]

She handed me a ticket along with a note beside it. From the looks of it, the note tells me when my fight is.

"Thank you." [Solace]

I moved along into the colosseum, most likely taking a path different from the viewers. It appeared that I entered a long hallway built with blocks of stone. It was only until a few minutes later that I entered a large room with the participants readying themselves.

("...Smells like sweat.") [Solace]

I didn't expect the environment to be clean, but this was way below expectations. It was literally just a big room full of sweaty dudes. At least there were a bunch of wooden benches to rest on.

("Guess I'll wait.") [Solace]

I took a seat among the few who didn't care to warm up. There were plenty of others who were stretching or shadow boxing. I call it that, but it was just people swinging their weapons in the air.

("I want this to be over already...") [Solace]

I sat there for a… I don't know. I guess it was a long time considering that I saw people come and go. There would be a uniformed man who would come in and call up to ten names before I heard cheering outside. I'd guess about two hours later my name was called.

("Finally.") [Solace]

I had to group up with a bunch of sweaty guys and trail behind the uniformed man. We exited through another hallway, which opened up to a massive arena. We were asked to ascend the stairs onto the platform and wait.

"You better win Alt!" [Leyhna]

I could recognize her voice from afar. Looking far into the surrounding crowd I managed to locate Leyhna sitting next to Fina.

"The battle royale will begin shortly." [???]

I heard an empowered voice echoing throughout the colosseum. Strangely, it was familiar.

("Isn't that…?") [Solace]

I glanced around to find an elevated room that towered over the entire arena. It appeared to have five people sitting there with some kind of purple orb before each of them.

("...Master?!") [Solace]

I recognized the faces. Most of them were teachers who taught some of my classes, and a face I was all too familiar with. It was a composition of Master, Mr. Urth the basic combat teacher, Ms. Grotto the magic theory teacher, Ms. Ross the general education teacher, and Wilharrow.

"All ten of you will combat each other until a single one remains. Show me that you have what it takes to stand by my side." [Wilharrow]

I saw the crystal placed in front of Wilharrow glow as he spoke. I assume it was akin to a microphone.

"You may begin." [Wilharrow]
