5 Ch. 5 First Contact

The letter arrived home before I did.

With just a little too much enthusiasm then I meant for, I fished it out of the letterbox and opened the door, only to be greeted with the silence of living alone.

I'm getting lonelier by the second here. Friends would be very appreciated.

I live in an 8-story apartment, on the 8th floor. There aren't any lifts here, so I either take the stairs, or risk getting caught using my Quirk to jump up there. The view is decent, though.

There are many things one might do when they get home. Watch TV, play games, read your new book that may-or-may-not contain future events, read the mail, et cetera. Personally, I like systematically collapsing and passing out on the couch.

...

*Yawn*

This is... my second time going through first day of high school.

Not much to do in the early morning, is there? The ramen shop down the road from my house opens at 5, the convenience store across the street is always open. The city is still dead quiet as ever, though.

Even UA's front gate hasn't opened yet.

"I could've slept more."

Oh well. The air up here does feel nice, at least.

...

(3rd Person POV)

5 a.m. is a very peaceful time. Nobody's really awake yet, so it's always quiet. If you're lucky, you can catch a glimpse of the sunlight over the buildings. If you aren't, then you would have to settle for the monochrome blue of the city.

Somewhere, a girl with a creation quirk is waking up. She gets ready, leaves her mansion

It's the first day of high school.

As she's about to enter school grounds, the girl hears the very distinct sound of someone who just bit into something a little too hot for their tongue. He turns his head to-and-fro, looking for the poor fool who misjudged the temperature of their noodles. Finally, she looks up.

There's a boy, sitting on top of the entrance arch and enjoying a very warm cup of instant ramen, looking down at her.

The girl takes a moment to fully notice the ramen boy, somewhat preoccupied with a very long stretch of noodle.

*slurp* "Hi there."

"Oh... Hello. Are you a first-year?"

"Yep." *eating noises*

The boy continued making eye contact while eating his noodles. Slightly unnerved, the girl kept talking.

"I'm Momo Yaoyorozu. What's your name?

"Mamoru Saisei. Nice to mee-" The boy had finished his noodles, leaving only the soup.

*gulp* "Nice to meet you."

...

(Back to MC's POV)

So that was Momo Yaoyorozu, eh? Class 1-A's vice class rep and the subject of countless amounts of fanart that may or may not appear in one's "homework" folder. After seeing her in person, well...

I can see why.

I put my ramen down, right in the middle of the arch top (to annoy the janitors, of course), and I jump down. I take in the morning air one last time before I head to class.

Finally in front of the classroom door, and I'm reciting mantras and praying to whatever deity currently in charge of this world. True warriors must always be prepared before the battle, be it physically or mentally.

That said, I'm trembling right now. After a final silent prayer asking for the mental strength to carry me through, I put my hand on the door handle and slide it open.

Time for my 2nd high school debut.

I walk in, self-confidence set to max. Room scan, stat!

Even though it's quite early, there's quite a lot of people already here. Lida's here, Shoto's also here, Momo's obviously here too... I start looking for my seat.

As I try not to stumble over countless tables and chair legs in search of my own, I overhear a whispered conversation between a group of young ladies.

"That guy's cute." *frog noises!* Oh, that must be Froppy.

"Totally my type!" This one's very excited. Must be that alien chick...

Ugh. Finally. My chair. I look forward to our partnership, seat.

I sit down, and immediately after, a chill runs down my spine. A tingling sensation on the back of my head, like a thousand needles resting on my neck. "!!!" is the only appropriate reaction I got for situations like this.

Letting out a sigh, I turn my head and see... nothing? Ah, of course, how could I forget. I whisper, "Hello?" An invisible girl shudders in response, clearly realizing I can tell where she's looking.

Before she can even open her mouth that for some reason I can tell is closed, I rest my head on my table and fall asleep. I'd rather leave proper introductions for the Quirk Apprehension test, thank you very much...

...

First contact is tiring, man.
