2 Chapter 1

"It was us. We were the ones behind your mother's death, your father's disappearance, I fed your grandfather poision, Xia, you deserved nothing!" I could hear Meo scream at me as I closed my eyes letting the tears go before I died. But all that will have justice. I will bring no shame to the Lu's.

My ears perked. I opened my eyes to see my teary eyed mother bawl her eyes out.

"Mom," I called out.

"Xia, mommy's here. Don't be afraid," my mom replied instantly.

In confusion I glance around to see Meo standing behind mom.

"It was my fault," Meo starts her fake crying,"I didn't take good care of her, I'm sorry Auntie," she says sobbing into her hands. I secretly roll my eyes. I must have been reborn back in time. This life I will make all my enemy's lives living hell.

"Don't blame yourself, Meo, you must go home to rest," mom reassures her.

"Meo, don't call her Auntie anymore," I say to Meo.

"Xia, what happened?Why do you say this?" She asks.

"A lot of rumors say you are cottoning up to my mom," I tell her, "I don't like rumors, mom" I turn to my mom with pleading eyes.

Meo runs out of the room, her tears flowing.

"Xia, why do you suddenly talk of this? Meo is your best friend, is she not?" Mom questions warily.

"Not anymore," I replied, remembering all the schemes she acted against me.

After mom served me porridge I wiped my mouth and cleared my throat.

"Mom, I want to see Grandfather".

silence.

"I miss him," I say.

"Xia, aren't you afraid of Grandfather?"

"No, that would be ridiculous," I denied. If we were to move in with grandfather, we'd be able to protect him from getting harmed by Ji Cheng and Meo.Additionally to that, we'd have money and protection.

"Of course, I'll phone Grandfather," my mother smiles.
