15 Affinity

The rains seem to settle down.

Her face was still frozen in confusion and disbelief, except for her purple eyes. My mind race trying to come up with something to start our conversation. Regarding her situation, I had nothing to say. I had never encountered such magic in my past life, not even heard about it, magic that can make yourself became concealed.

"Since when did you realise that people couldn't see you?" For now, let's investigate the source of this magic. If it not a spell then maybe it was triggered from an artefact or magic tool. Artefact is a magical item that contains a permanent spell in it, usually found in a dungeon or labyrinths, nobody no its origin but old people make the presumption that it was forged by the ancient people who lived 4000 years ago.

'Even in my past life, I had never seen one

While the magic tool is a magical item that has more diverged, not scarcely specific in spell casting but also being used to increase the efficacy of the spell, such as magical sword, wand, magic gloves and more. Some of its are everyday life technology such as a magic lamp that uses mana instead of electricity, stone mana that stock mana to prevent mages from being drained out of mana and storage ring, that can store objects. The creation of a magic tool is simpler than an artefact, however, an artefact has higher quality and durability than any magic tool. Usually, its spell also powerful.

I assumed that it was because of an artefact or magic tool but from her story, artefacts and the magic tool seems not to be the explanation. She said that it was her second time being like this, the first time was the last month, the night that she had fully developed her mana core.

'She had already developed her mana core?'

"Wait…how old are you?"

"I-I'm…turned 6 today."

'She had developed her mana core at 6'

This girl is a real prodigy because practically mana core is fully formulated at the age of 8, she was two years ahead. Differed to me, I was obviously a cheat.

Doesn't that mean she is an irregular one?

"Yo-you didn't seem to be surprised, my family almost gave the same reaction, their mouth was left gaped, they were shocked. What about you, how old are you?"

'If I was an ordinary person I probably would join them'

"I'm about to turn 4…next month"

Then, she resumed her story. Later, the next morning she was back to normal, she thought that it was a special phase for someone who had developed mana core at an early age but if that was her reason then I should also have been in that invisible phase too.

Today, she was strolling around the plaza with her maid. When she stopped by a market, suddenly her maid couldn't see her. Her maid face turned pale and began to panic to search for her but she was standing there next to her. After that, they were separated. She came up with an option to sit somewhere that will make her stand out the most so that she would know that her spell has turned off, that is at the centre of the plaza, the water fountain. However, turned out afterwards, rains began to pour.

Then, that is how I met her. I was the only one who notices her. She thought that her spell has been uplifted, but turned out it was all way around. She was still unseen in people's eyes.

Ezra scratched the back of his head, for a brief moment, he doesn't know what to do after listening to her story, there was nothing that he can do for her.

[Trace]

Since she told that her mana core had fully developed, Ezra used his [Trace] to analyze her mana flow. She doesn't lie, she really had her mana core developed, and she has a massive mana pool, almost as big as him who had trained his mana pool since he was 1 year old. He was shocked but he still suppressed his poker face.

'Perhaps she had accidentally recited a spell?'

"Have you ever recited a chant?"

However, that did not seem to be the case. She shook her head. After her family discovered that she had developed her mana core, they only have been training her mana pool and mana flow. Well, that was the precise thing to do.

For the starter they should focusing on improving their mana pool and understand it mechanism.

'Then maybe it was a subconscious chant?'

There are three types of spell casting

-Magic circle

-Recitation chant

-Subconscious chant

Incredible, if she was able to do a subconscious chant, she has an outstanding potential to become a potent mage in the future. Subconscious chant is rare, not many mages can do so. Add to that, she has also uncovered an invisible spell. It seems similar to a spell of hiding presence but more superior, because that hiding presence spell only hides your smell and sound but they still can see you.

'Maybe, I should give it a try…this could work'

"Give me your hand"

"Huh?" her eyebrow folded in confusion. Good thing I was around her age or not it might be an awkward situation. Despite my strange and sudden request, she listened and trusted me. She holds my hand.

????????????

There was mana that enveloped her body, the mana that coated her body was matching to the mana in the atmosphere around here, and it kept changing trying to adjust to the surrounding. No, more like she was bending the light waves around herself, she was using Light-Affinity element!

Not many people have a Light-Affinity element, it was one of the divine element. It was extremely rare!

"You have a Light-Affinity element.."

"H-how did you know that…"

Crap, I shouldn't have said it out loud. I was so surprised that it slipped out of my mouth. She was looking straight into my eyes waiting for my answer.

"I-I read book that Light-Affinity element is exactly like this feels…hehe"

Will she believe that I kept on using reading books as an excuse to prevent myself from being exposed. After hearing that, she blinked. Her face showed that she was dumbfounded by the excuse but she didn't press on that matter anymore.

I didn't know how to convert pure mana into Light-Affinity but if she was able to use subconscious chant maybe there a slight chance that she would understand if I instruct her to control her mana. She didn't realise the reason she became invisible because she had coated herself with mana and at the same time altering the light waves around her.

However, If I want to teach her, here is not the best place, we must change our location, If it works out we can't let people see a girl suddenly popped out of thin air. The worst-case my secret could be exposed.

Then, slowly I let go of her hand gently. "Your name…what is your name?" We had a long conversation already but we haven't properly introduced ourselves to each other. Another thing, it's not good to keep on referring to her as 'platinum hair girl'. That's sound rude.

Hearing that question, she also had realised that we haven't known each other name.

"Elora…Elora Swiftlight"

"…Mine is Ezra Zavlov"

As Ezra stood up from his chair, in the instant his sleeve was being pulled.

"No-…Don't-..leave" A weary voice came from her lips. She thought that Ezra wants to leave her but Ezra was only stood up from his place and want to suggest changing to another place for their conversation, a place where there are fewer people and closed.

She had been keeping up her composure and act all mature, unmatched to her age, in the end, she was still a 6-year-old girl. She was feeling nervous and afraid to be left alone.

"No, I'm not leaving you, let's go to another place, it started to pack here"

Since the rains had fully stopped, many people had come to this café. He was also wondering why many people came to this café.Maybe they served decent food. Maybe one day he should come here too. Ezra holds Elora's hand and both of them walked into the street.

They walked on the path that leads to the Adventure Guild, Ezra still remembered the way clearly. However, that was never his destination. He remembered that there was a route to the back alley of a shop. From his calculation, the probable for people to use that back alley is extremely low because it was a dead-end path.

Once they arrived at the exact location Ezra had aimed at. He looked at the back alley surrounding, there was nobody around just the two of them.

"It a dead-end… why are you taking me here?"

"Because we are going to cancel the spell here"

Elora was in confusion, she didn't understand why it has to be here out of all places. As to her question, Ezra answered for her. "You don't want people to see you suddenly appeared in front of them right? What would people think if that happened?" The common reaction would be surprised. That situation would be a problematic for him.

If that happened even the 'reading books' excuses wouldn't work.

After Ezra had told her the reason she quickly understood it.

'She's a good girl"

"So now what…How are we going to cancel this spell"

Now is the hardest part, if it was because of Fire, Water, Plant or Wind-Affinity, it would be manageable for Ezra to explain how to control her mana flow that was covering her bodyFor now, She still didn't know that she has been constantly adapting her body to the surrounding by using Light-Affinity to change the light waves around her.

'Now how am I supposed to guide her if I don't understand the concept of Light-Affinity'

Ezra is trying to come up with some ways to explain how impure mana, pure mana and Element-Affinity works. If she could grasp these three basic magic knowledge then it will be easier to help her to control Light-Affinity.

"Do you know how mana circulation work?"

"I do" a fast reply came right after Ezra questioned her.

"I thought so…but it's okay I wil-..heh! you mean you already understand it?"

Her brows furrowed downward and she brings her pout face. "I thought I already told you?"

Hah~ she did tell me that her family taught her only mana circulation. I had completely forgotten that she is an abnormal one. No, I'm also not the one who should talk about that. Either way, that's a piece of good news.

"Alright, now let's proceed, put your hand on mine"

"Again?" She was starting to doubt him. Well, his father also said that she should not put a lot of trust in someone she just met. However, at this moment Ezra was her only hope to return to normal. She worried about her maid who must be anxious since she would probably be blamed if Elora didn't return home. She was the only daughter of the Duke Walter Swiftlight, the patriarch of the Swiftlight household. She was one of the very important people in the Rura City.

Regardless, Ezra didn't know anything about Swiftlight Family, he never heard about it, not even in his past life. After Elora had put her hand on top of Ezra's hand, Ezra deliberately flowed his mana into her hand. Then, both of their hand glowed a sudden pervasive red light.

"What is your thought about this?"

'warm and cosy' are the words that came into her mind but this was not the right answer that Ezra was looking forward from her.

"This is Fire-Affinity"

Then, the light on their hands turned from flaming red to fluorescent ocean blue light.

"What about this?"

'Calm and Peaceful' the feel of the mana that flowed into her hand is serene.

"Water-Affinity"

Then, a lime green light replaced the blue one. It was a lime green colour, their hair was gently blowing and fluttering in the air.

'gentle and light breeze'

'Wind-Affinity'

Ezra was demonstrating to her how to convert pure mana into Element-Affinity. He was showing her his three Elementary Element-Affinity. Elora was amazed, she had seen one of the most bewitching things about magic.

"Did you understand its characteristic?" He asked her, who seems to be mouth-gaped.

She immediately nodded twice. Each affinity has its characteristic.

"Now, around your body, you're aeleasing the Light-Affinity mana and manipulate it to change the light waves around you, try to feel the Affinity mana and try to cancel it like how you stop from circling pure mana outside of your body."

After hearing Ezra instruction, she began concentrating on her mana flow and try to nullify it. Subconscious chant usually triggered when the user was feeling in some sort of danger or they feel afraid of something. This is happened to defend the user itself.

For now, let's wait and see the result.

After a brief delay, she closed her eyes. I glanced back at her. Only then did I realised that I was still holding her hand. Should I let go of it? I want to but I'm afraid that it will aggravate her focus.

'she had a delicate and soft hand'

Combined with his previous and present life, this was his first time holding a girl hand for the sole purpose of holding not for handshake gesture. However, he didn't feel anything toward her, he was just holding a child's hand. He had a mental age of 28 years old. To him, Elora was just a girl who was caught up in magic incapacitation and he was just there to help her.
