28 Chapter 28 - Hornet King and Hornet Queen

"Now it's just the two of you, huh..." Han Sen's cloak was covered in blood, with numerous hornet corpses around him. In addition to the Poisonous Orange Hornets, there were also several Poisonous Red Hornets, their mutant version.
But now, in one of the largest nests he managed to find after diving deep into this giant forest, two different hornets appeared. Their color was a deep reddish-orange tone, almost like living fire. Their sizes were much bigger than their counterparts, but he was certain that these two were the King and Queen of the nest, as one was larger than the other.
With two crossbows, one in each arm, he loaded both with mutant tier bolts, obtained from the Red Hornets he had killed.
"Are you just going to stand there? Can't you see that I'm prepared?" Despite feeling like he was going mad talking to these creatures, Han Sen would share his loneliness with whom else? He had to drag Qin Xuan along next time, otherwise he would become even crazier than he already was.

As if provoked by Han Sen's words, the King and Queen attacked him with anger and fury. While the King approached him with the intention of stabbing and poisoning him, the Queen began emitting a strange sound, with the sound waves becoming visible.
"It's not so useful when I've already killed all the creatures around..." Realizing what she was doing, Han Sen was glad that he had already eliminated everything else within a kilometer radius. Even if some were still attracted here, they would be weak or it would take them too long.
Lifting both Crossbows to the King, he did not shoot because the Sacred-Blood beast was too fast for him to keep up with. Constantly zigzagging, the wings of the Hornet King moved it through the forest, quickly approaching the target. But as it got closer, Han Sen shot.

With a loud noise of a giant body falling to the forest floor, the quick movement of the Hornet King stopped for a moment and he turned around. This was not intentional, but an instinctive reaction after feeling the profound loss of a partner. Looking at the fallen body on the ground, with approximately six bolts pierced in the same spot in the head, he turned to look at the Queen's killer with immense anger building up.
"I wasn't aiming at you, dude..." Han Sen shrugged as he shot another bolt from the crossbow, even breaking the sound barrier and a loud buzz filled the air.

With a hole in the head made instantaneously, the Hornet King failed to continue its flight and fell to the ground, joining the Hornet Queen in the afterlife. Two notifications sounded for Han Sen as well, causing him to fall and lean on the corpses around him.

As he was resting, he decided to release his pets so they could eat. A small black cat and two 6m black snakes appeared around him and waited for his command.
"Party on, boys..." He said and began to calmly rest on top of the furry corpse by his side.

"Hmm, they are different, but so similar..." Han Sen was holding two bolts in one hand while in the other he had what was left of the Queen Bee's flesh. He had already devoured everything he could, and now he was just analyzing his gains.
The two bolts were the Beast Souls from the King and Queen. He had already tested both and knew the difference.
The Bolt coming from the Queen was of the non-silent type, causing a shockwave upon being shot, which disoriented the enemies. This was the moment when it showed how deadly it was, piercing through the enemy. And if it couldn't kill with just one shot, the noise generated by the movement and the friction in the air were enough to leave the beast disoriented even after being hit.
Meanwhile, the King's Bolt was very sharp, much more than the Queen's, and contained a powerful paralyzing poison. It could paralyze any mutant creature with a few drops of it, proving very useful in its hunts.
Since he would only use them as ammunition for the two crossbows, he decided not to improve any of them. He had a total of 3002 Bolts available, which means he has about 1000 reloads before running "out of bullets". He could summon them back, but he had to be cautious. 2 were Sacred-Blood, 500 Mutants, 1500 Primitives, and 1000 Ordinary. It was the perfect quantity.
In these five days that he spent here, Han Sen accomplished many things. Including a new Crossbow, which he upgraded from a Two-Headed Snake. Now he had two very powerful and deadly crossbows. It was indeed the perfect weapon. And besides that, his status was also slightly filled, and he was grateful for coming to hunt these beasts. Although no one before had found so many mutant beasts, it only means that they didn't try hard enough to enter here, as it was a death area.

Surrounded by beasts wherever he went, Han Sen refrained from sleeping in these last days and focused on hunting and surviving. After all, it wasn't every day that you came across something like this hunting ground. And it's not like he was allowed to sleep either, since there were hornets everywhere.
Considering the enormous amount of hornets everywhere and how many he had already killed, he didn't even want to see how much EXP he had. He didn't kill hundreds per day, but thousands. And finally, the last nest, where at least 10,000 hornets came out of there, his fight lasted a whole day and he was already tired of killing.
He even felt like he was having a breakthrough in the [Frozen King Sutra] because of all this fighting. He killed so much that he would need a vacation from the Sanctuary and focus on other things. Since he already had plenty of money now, he would try to contact Fist Guy and see if he had any mutant beasts to eat.
Once he looked at the total EXP he had obtained after these days of fighting, Han Sen smiled widely. He barely knew what to do with so much, but he didn't intend to save much of it.

"Here I am again..." Han Sen threw a suitcase onto the bed in the luxury hotel room he rented. It was here where he improved the [Frozen King Sutra] last time, and he intended to do the same today. But with so much EXP, he knew he needed to spend some time here.
His passage through the teleportation station was very quick, as he didn't want to meet Qin Xuan yet. If he saw her today, and tomorrow he appeared much stronger, she would find the situation strange. Whereas if she only saw him after a while, she would think it was his improvement while hunting.
Turning on the bathtub and letting the water cool down, he grabbed his comlink and saw that he had some unread messages from Qin Xuan and Xue Xi. Glancing over them, they were just messages asking where he was or what he was doing.
'Looks like little girl Xue Xi got more interested than I imagined...' Han Sen chuckled as he cleared the notifications and opened the Upgrade System, deciding to study which upgrades he wanted to make.
For his own good and out of pure paranoia that something might happen, he decided to save at least 30,000 EXP to use in times of need. However, there would still be over 60,000 EXP left for him to spend. It was a lot of stuff, nonetheless.
After some time studying carefully, he decided to only do what was possible at the moment. If something else came up, he would take care of it at the right time. Getting into the water, he calmed down and assumed the lotus position inside.
"Let's start the improvement..."
