Chapter 28

The fields were malachite green. The sound of chirping filled the air. The moon, hovering in the sky like a phantom-silver orb. Spirit freshening and pastoral was what an traveling onlooker would say about the place.

But to Thanos, Maetos and Baithos, it was home. For 10 years had they lived on the island of Themyscira along with the amazons. Fighting, squabbling, and training with their youngest of girls.

Thanos, the eldest, had proven himself the physically strongest, durable and the one with the most stamina. Even at a young age, he was showing the maturity of one older than himself. Leading the group of children made up of Princess Diana, Artemis, Lo, Maetos and Baithos. With his natural intelligence coming in to play, Thanos was a natural leader.

Maetos, the middle born, had proven himself the most savage. Naturally the most gifted in the ways of combat, whether it be sword, spear, axe, flail, halberd or even hand to hand, Meithos was gifted with natural talent in them all.

However his more…savage nature gets a hold of him when he engages in battle against people he deems 'Worthy'. Those people being his father, Ares, his Mother, Neith, and Queen Hippolyta of the amazons. Even if more people could defeat him at this age doesn't mean he would think you 'Worthy'.

Last but certainly not least, Baithos. Those who knew him would speak of his character, while naturally gifted in combat, he was not as gifted as Maetos. While gifted in his enhanced strength, durability and stamina, he was not as gifted as his brother Thanos. What he lacked in enough talent to match his brothers, he made up for with his mindset.

Unshakable Will. Determination to do whatever he wanted was staggering and unyielding. Defiance glowed from his eyes proudly.

With Ares as a father, the trio had expectations, expectations they would strive to reach. Even at home they trained relentlessly, either by Ares's design or their mother's.

Neith was a caring mother that tended to each boy individually and treated them all with equal amounts of love.

That did not mean she would coddle her boys though.

'Love would never let me do such a thing.' Neith internally says, overlooking their training as of now. Each had their own strengths and weaknesses, so Ares had skillfully put together a training program for each child. After their individual training sessions, Ares would take them and beat the idea of teamwork into their godly brains.

"Again." Ares sounds out. Staring at his children, their chest furiously expanding and contracting, lungs not able to get enough air, sweat flooding out of their bodies.

Each boy, sprawled out in the grass.

"Get up! You said you would win this time!" A squeaky, childish voice yells out.

"P-princess you're interrupting…what if Lord Ares gets mad?" Another voice whisper to the first, fear laced in her words.

Sudden terror overcomes Diana, her yelling could make Lord Ares mad? Would he be mad? What if he doesn't forgive her? What if-

"Calm down." Ares's voice enters her ears. She looks up startled at his sudden presence. However she sees that he is just standing over his sons, nowhere near her.

Ares POV

From Diana needlessly getting paranoid to my children boasting about my inevitable defeat, I had come to the realization that kids are annoying. The trio had trampled around Themyscira, announcing that they would finally defeat me to any amazon that was amused enough to pay attention.

Most didn't, which I internally thank them for. Acknowledging such ludicrous statements makes for more trouble in the future. Ahhhh….atleast they're getting better at teamwork.

"Since you're all so….tired, Thanos, go do suicides across the island, every 10 feet, beach to beach. Maetos, go capture Ruin and ride her back to me. Baithos, you go fight a hill of a mountain." I name of activities to do.

"W-wha? F-for how long?" Maetos asks me, distraught at my orders.

"…Until I get tired." I say, knowing damn well I dont get tired. (If only.)

"UGHHHHHHH!" They all sound off as they scurry away to do their tasks. I hear Neith walk to me. Turning to look at her, amusement written all along her face, which prompts some amusement on mine as well.

"You are…." She trails off trying to find a word.

"I am him, no other words needed." I respond as I lean into her slightly.

"Hehe, how about we return back home....I could go for a bath." She says suggestively. I instantly catch on, weighing the pro's and con's as I always do…with any and every decision I make, I catch myself.

'I did it again.'

"You read my mind, I have been feeling a little….dirty."

(Im cringing so hard its making me bleed internally..im so sorry.)

And so time passed, as it always does. Days turned into weeks into months and into years. Those years turned into almost a century, 90 years to be exact.

The boys had grown from cute children into fearsome and intimidating warriors. Each matured beautifully.

Each of them already taught the art of taking a life. They had been baptized in the blood of enemies they faced, mostly mortals and monsters. Their father had stressed that it was important to get used to killing, moral's regarding the taking of a life were meaningless to him. That didn't mean he would stand them becoming blood drunk.

If he ever found out they were simply killing because they enjoyed it, he would beat them within the reaches of death, immortality be damned. As he once said, "I brought you in this life, I can take you out as well."

Now sitting upon his throne in Olympus, a seat he had not used for some time. Power erupted from his body, transforming him into his divine form.

'War Incarnate.' Thanos thought as he gazed upon his father's divine form for the first time.

'HEHEHEHEHEHE, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!!!' Maetos shouts a phrase internally.

'Unimaginable Power, how could such a being exist?' Baithos asks.

The trio kneeling before his throne, in front of crowds of gathered gods and goddesses for their coming of age and announcement of divinities. Many of them had avoided them as much as possible, sue to their fearsome appearances.

"Well…done my son, we welcome your children upon Mount Olympus, now let us begin." Zeus yells out. The three fates appear and begin their announcements.

"We Announce Thanos, Son of Ares…God of Strength and Endurance." One announces to the room. Many gods and goddesses recognize Heracles as the god of Strength, but of course there are others. They clap…as it's customary.

"We Announce Maetos, Son of Ares, God of Battle, Warriors and Bloodshed." Another fates announces.

The gods are unsurprised at the news, he was Ares's child, 'makes sense' they thought.

"We Announce Baithos, Son of Ares, God of Thunder, Courage, and Honor." Claps once again resound outwards at the news. Once again unsurprised at the news, he was Zeus's grandson, 'makes sense' they thought.

I should've maybe fleshed out some of their childhood but Im impatient and want to get to modern times, more of their time as younger kids and teens will be revealed in filler/interlude chapters.

Hope you enjoyed!
