Chapter 19

3rd POV—-

Alexander, in a blood rage, or possibly regarding the greek mercenaries as traitors, ignored their appeals for mercy. The mercenaries were surrounded on all sides and massacred.

Alexander had won a great victory. Asia minor now lay at his mercy but the Persian empire was still a land of immense wealth and power. And already it was mobilizing its vast resources to face him.

Weeks later——

Now as Alexander approached Sardis, capital of the Persian province of Lydia, its commander surrendered without a fight.

However, one must not forget the Persians naval power. Since they had major naval bases around the eastern Mediterranean- that could potentially cut his communications back to Greece.

Rather than challenge the Persians at sea Alexander decided, on Altair input, to send Altair and his small war band with him. These warriors included-

Jabari, an Egyptian warrior of the famed 'War Dogs' who gained some fame in the battle of Granicus for ripping the heads off of multiple Persian soldiers with his bare hands. The Greeks described him as giant man with the strength of Atlas himself, while Persians that escaped his wrath told of a man with strength to throw lions.

Ammon, another Egyptian warrior of the famed 'War Dogs' gained some fame with his look and brutal efficiency on the battlefield, also saving alot of Greeks from close deaths.

Ahmed, brother of Ammon, and another member of the 'War Dogs', gained fame from his mercilessness, killing scores of soldiers, professing his love for a war god not of his own country, Ares, and then proclaiming to bathe in the blood of his enemies.

Maat, a freed slave of the Egyptians, coming some where from Western Africa, gained fame as a WOMAN killing men left and right with her nimbleness and agility, darting between enemies using poisoned weapons. Also apart of the 'War Dogs'.

Only five people in total, attacked and raided the Greek coastal cities of Miletus and Halicarnassus. As a message, Ahmed and Ammon gathered hundreds of surrendered soldiers in the 'Mausoleum of Halicarnassus' and on the orders of Altair burned and destroyed it with the surrendered soldiers inside, completely destroying one of the '7 Wonders of the Ancient World.'

The news of such a feat reverberated throughout the known world. Shocking the Greeks at home, The Egyptians and the Persians. Scholars and artisans raced from country to country trying to get a glimpse of these legendary people..and Altair let them.

His plan wasn't to sit back and watch. No it was to change the parts of history so that a name associated with 'War Dogs' will always pop up. In history class when you learn about George Washington, the name 'War Dogs' will pop up.

Miyamoto Musashi, Genghis Khan, Hannibal Barca, William Wallace, Attila the Hun, Boudicca, Leonidas, Spartacus, Saladin, Richard the Lionheart, Sun Tzu, Lu Bu, Joan of Arc, Julius Caesar, Ragnar Lodbrok, Bjorn Ironside, Ivar the Boneless, Erik the Red, Odysseus, Xiahou Dun, Achilles, Alfred the Great, Sam Sharpe, Nat Turner ,Simo Hayha and more, WAY MORE.

All connected to one group.

As scholars and artisans get looks and meetings with these people they immediately begin to write and draw about such legendary figures. The greek kids at home start to play 'red mausoleum' while the Persians were scared in their homes.

Alexander continued his advance into Lydia…and Phrygia. At Gordium, he was shown the legendary 'Gordian Knot'- a prophesy said that whoever could unpick it would rule all of Asia.

Maat, the lady warrior simply sliced it in half.

Meanwhile, Memnon of Rhodes led Persian warships into the Aegean in a attempt to capture the Greek Islands of Chios and Lesbos. He however was met with the thundering force of…..one person…who was also a 'War Dog' named Alexios.

Alexios rose to fame by defending two Islands from Persian invaders all by himself and slaying the traitor Memnon, again the world was informed that this warrior was a member of the 'War Dogs'. Upon this revelation more and more historians and scholars started researching this illustrious group of warriors.

18 months had passed since Alexander's invasion of Asia had begun. Now passing Cilicia and crossing the Nur mountains into Syria, where King Darius lll himself met the Alexander of Macedonia, with the main army of Persia. Darius was determined to trap and destroy Alexander's army, which he outnumbered almost 2 to 1. So he blocked Alexander's only escape route, by moving his army to the coastal plain near Issus, just 6 miles wide, from mountains to sea.

The narrow battlefield would force Alexander to fight, but it also prevented Darius exploiting his huge numerical advantage.

That day Persia learned of the cowardice of their great 'god king'. Alexander had charged the army with his Companion cavalry after seeing his Macedonian phalanx slowly get pushed back. Alexander again with his Companion cavalry fought his way to Darius, and rather than face this apparently mad and fearless Macedonian king AND the some of the famed 'War Dogs', Darius fled the battlefield crying at his near death experience.

As the news of their kings fleeing of the battlefield the Persians themselves abandoned the fight and tried to save themselves. News of the Persian kings defeat and fleeing made the Persians angry at their king. Rioting reverberated around the Persian empire as Alexander went on to conquer province after province, win battle after battle. Altair and his group were once again noted to have killed MANY, MANY notable figures across Persia, from famous undefeated soldiers and generals to members of Persia's government to the Persian royal family as Alexander continued his conquest.

Amongst one of the greatest feats Altair himself has done was sneak into the capital of the Persian empire, and kidnap the rest of the royal family including Darius's wife, mother and all three of his remaining children.

After conquering the western coast of the Persian empire and ending the Persian Mediterranean naval power. Alexander continued back into Egypt, on the way there Altair himself killed yet another Satrap while his war band beat Darius's younger brother to death with animal bones for trying to get Egypt back from Alexander.

There in Egypt, Alexander finally established his city of Alexandria. However back at home was not all sunshine and rainbows although close to it. Alexander got news that King Agis of Athens, with Persian support launched a revolt against the Macedonian king.

Alexander sent Altair, to solve the problem. Solve it he did. Once in Athens, Altair kidnapped the royal family of Athens and tied them to the Statue of Athena, once Agis and his troops saved the wife, brothers and mother of Agis, Altair threw a paralyzing agent at the group and proceeded to strangle Agis's brothers, wife and then mother in front of him and his guards before strangling King Agis himself and running off to a ship and sailing back to Egypt.

Once again the world recoils at the news about Altair, this time disgusted and fearful of his actions. This earns him the legendary title of Kingslayer. Alexander welcomes his now friend and continues his conquest back into Asia.

Year after Year Alexander conquers more and more of the known world. Finally at the cusps of victory, Alexander now stands with his army outside of the Persian capital. Rather than send thousands of his men to die in a long siege, he simply sends the man who at this point has killed even more royalty and important figures by himself.

As always Altair completes his mission and literally drags Darius out of the city by his ankles, daring anyone to try and save him. Once in front of Alexander, Darius surrenders his city and asks for his family back.

"No" Alexander refuses his request and has Altair to tie him up on the roof of his estate.

Legends of the Darius Execution all defer, some say Altair burned him alive, while others say he was skinned, some even speak of a unknown execution that later more modern historians believe to be 'The Blood Eagle' a execution created by vikings way after Alexander and even Rome's flory days.

Even though the accounts are all different they all agree that Darius did not die a good death. This once again added to Altair's legend, however this was not the end of his legend, no his next feat shook the core of the known world at the time and even have modern scientists baffled at it. At the end of Alexander's conquest and at the height of his career he was assassinated by Altair.

Greece, Egypt, Persia, India all scoured the known world looking for the Kingslayer.

Altair was last accounted at the Statue of Zeus, Temple of Artemis and the Lighthouse of Alexandria seen carving his name into the walls of 3 of 'The 7 Wonders Of The Ancient World'. He was then never seen again.

Jabari was last seen in modern day New Delhi, India.

Ahmed and Ammon were barely captured in Egypt by 50 greek soldiers and were set to be executed in the Macedonian capital. There execution was to be eaten by 5 Lions, but Ahmed and Ammon managed to beat the lions to death before being shot with a volley of arrows, only after they praised Ares for giving them glory and recognition did they die together.

Maat was captured in the city of Siwah in Modern day Libya. She was sold into slavery briefly before launching a revolt and killing hundreds of slavers and then leading her escaped slave brethren deeper into Africa and lived out the rest of her days as a queen. Later her descendant by the name of Mansa Musa revived her legend.
