65 Chapter 65 - Heresy Inquisitor [3]

The Inquisitor was kneeling, and certainly not due to any injuries dealt to them by me. It was by their own volition. It seemed that everything had changed the moment I had used Ignition.

"I greet the great descendant of the Sun Tribe."

'How the..'

I tilted my head, already preparing my next move if the Inquisitor showed an ounce of hostility.

"My apologies, I wasn't aware that you were a Dragon Kin. And, just so you are aware, I never had any suspicions of you being with the Demon's. I was just scouting you."

I had no words, but rather than asking everything at once it was better to take things slowly.

"Scouting me..?"

"That is correct. We were always going to scout you. But this incident proved to be a perfect opportunity, as it provided an opportunity to force you to fight your very hardest in a controlled environment. Your abilties and qualities reflect what Heresy Inquisitors need. The ability to not die."

I let out an almost exasperated sigh.

"Okay, that makes enough sense. But... why is a great Heresy Inquisitor kneeling to me?"

The Inquisitor looked up at me, had it not been for their mask, I'm sure we would've made eye contact.

"The Order is led by a Dragon Kin, like yourself. Honestly, I kneeled on instinct. The air around you, and those eyes are just like that persons. Every member of the Order has met the commander, no Heresy Inquisitor can possibly forget the air that person had around them. And, I got that same feeling from you. Well, the feelings were different. From that person, I felt fear."

The Inquisitor looked back at the principal, before looking at me.

"If you would..?"

Understanding their words, I willed my blood to form a curtain, blocking the principals line of sight.

And so, the Heresy Inquisitor removed their mask as their gaze met mine, their long, dark hair cascaded downwards as their, or rather, her green eyes met mine.

"From you, I felt nothing. Not fear, not admiration, not superiority or inferiority. I felt nothing because I couldn't comprehend what I was looking at. Sir Reinhardt, are you perhaps... the descendant of an extremely high ranked Dragon? That's the only explanation that makes sense to me. As, and forgive me for my bluntness, your power isn't yet at a point where I cannot even perceive it."

I shrugged my shoulders.

"Sure, let's go with that."

Putting her mask back on, the Inquisitor's voice changed. And so, my gazed was focused onto the mask.

"The mask's pretty cool, right? All Inquisitors, regardless of rank and strength wear the same uniform. That way, the Demon's don't know how strong the Inquisitor they face is, and it also makes us a lot scarier and it also prevents any issues that stem from social status or power when working with humans. In any case.. take this."

The Inquisitor threw me a piece of paper which I immediately stuffed into my cloak of darkness.

"That's your reward for doing our job for us. And, you even kept the contractee alive, a living contractee is hard to get a hold of. We know that they won't any valuable information for us. But, since they were only recently turned, we can study the transformation that their body undergoes."

"In other words, he's a test subject for you guys?"

My expression darkened, that guy was almost definitely going to dissected and fed all sorts of things to gauge his body's reactions. I'm sure that once he's dead, they'll still find use of his body.

"In any case, if you ever need something, be it money or military support then contact us through that paper. And, we'll either accept or deny your request. Soon, we'll probably get in touch to ask you to join us."

Smirking, I dismissed the curtain of blood.

"No can do, my current jobs pretty comfortable. And, I'd feel bad leaving my employer Knightless."

Shrugging her shoulders the Inquisitor looked up at me.

"Well that's fine, but that person will likely want to meet you. Would you be willing to at least met them?"

Sighing, I spoke.

"I can do that much... And, clean up is gonna be on you. This is your fault after all."

I said, walking away and heading to my room.

As soon as I was in my room, I collapsed face first onto my bed.

'A Dragon Kin..? That's what they think I am. Though, I'm not going to be correcting them. Who knows what would happen if word got out that I had a Dragon's Heart.'

I layed on my back, looking at the ceiling.

'To think that the Order's leader, that the commander of the Heresy Inquisitors was a Dragon Kin. Not too different to myself.'

"How interesting."
