1 Chapter 1- Reborn

"Aaaaaagrr!" Vincent got up, scared and yelling. The last thing he remembered was having a party at his apartment, talking, drinking, and...

"Damn it. That bastard stabbed me!" He remembered how someone stabbed him in the back, and he also remembered how the man smiled after killing him, a true assassin.

Vincent's thoughts slowly calmed down, and he noticed something peculiar.

"Where am I?" It isn't the hospital, but my room!" it was indeed a strange event for him. He knew someone stabbed him, clear as day, but still, he wasn't in the hospital.

"What day is it anyway," he reached his jeans back pocket, grabbing his cellphone and turning it on.

"3rd of July? Did I go to a coma for a whole year?" the dates didn't match up. He was sure that the party happened in September, and yet, it was July somehow.

"3rd of July... 3rd of July..." that particular date seemed familiar to him, and after some thought, he knew why.

"No way!" Vincent quickly opened the calendar app, and what appeared in front of his eyes was rather shocking. It was the 3rd of July indeed, but the year was 2084, the day Rise Online launched. Vincent's heart raced, and excitement built within. He thought about all the possibilities that the event could bring him. The idea of reaching the rank one Mage in the entire server was not that impossible. He wasn't the best player in his past life, but still, he was quite good, and now he had another chance to improve and become the best. Of course, all the knowledge Vincent had about future events would make his life way easier.

He could see that the game capsule was already on his bed, waiting for him. He had seen on his cell phone that the game would be launching in approximately 1 hour, which gave him enough time for an afternoon snack, as when the game launched, Vincent wouldn't be resting anytime soon.

Sitting at his kitchen table, Vincent ate two fried eggs with bacon, a not very healthy snack, but it was quick and easy to prepare as his time was short.

"Where do I start?" He took advantage of his lunchtime to draw a mental map of all the things he should do first. Vincent knew that many possibilities were open to him, someone that possessed a vast knowledge of the game, but he also knew that it wasn't unlikely for another player to discover the secrets first, so he couldn't afford to waste time.

Vincent then lay down on his bed, right after he had eaten his lunch, and slowly placed the game capsule on his head. Holding his cell phone in his right hand, he counted the seconds until Rise Online was released.

[Welcome to Rise Online, adventurer]

"Finally," thought Vincent as his vision went completely dark, a sign that he was about to enter Rise's magical world.

"Hello, adventurer. My name is Silver, and I'm here to guide you in your character creation," said a beautiful silver-haired girl. This was the AI that helped new players by explaining basic concepts regarding character creation.

Vincent already knew exactly what he wanted, so he wasted no time. The initial races were humans, elves, and dwarves. In the future, orcs would also be available for creation, but not initially. Rise was divided into some starting classes, these being: Warrior, Mage, Cleric, and Rogue. The Warrior could be DPS, using a two-handed sword, or as is commonly used, tank, wielding a sword and shield. The Mage was only DPS-oriented, but players could use staff or books as weapons. The Cleric was the support, with several healings and buffs highly effective in parties. And finally, the Rogue, who used both daggers, short swords, and bows.

These were just the starting classes. They all had subclasses, and the most amazing thing about Rise was all the hidden classes, which were often extremely strong, but also very rare.

Vincent chose the human race and the same class from his past life, the Mage. He was part of the top 100 Mages on the entire server and was now willing to reach the top 1. It was obvious that he would not choose a different class. He loved playing Mage, and it was the class he possessed the greatest proficiency in.

Vincent didn't customize his character much the first time he played. But this time, he decided to do it. He died in his past life, and he still hasn't figured out who the person was, so looking the same as in real life could cause him some problems.

He changed some features of his face, haircut, and hair color. Vincent looked in the mirror for a while, trying to find some similarity to his true self, and could find almost nothing.

"I think that's fine," after creating his character, Vincent wondered if he should use the same nickname from his past life.

"I'll do it differently this time. Since I know a lot about future events, it's only fair to call me The Seer.

"Good luck on your journey, The Seer," said Silver, giving Vincent a warm, gentle smile.

"And there we go!"
