18- Hiring

Vincent needed an army to conquer the Dungeon and he knew how to get it, but first, the library was the place he needed to go.

The library was a place in Lost Leaf city where all class tutors stood. A gigantic place also filled with books that contained information about the world and other things.

There was a Quest that he needed to complete with his tutor. The same that gave him the Sage's Apprentice title. Another thing Vincent wanted was to level up his skills. One had to use it tons of time for it to upgrade, so there wasn't much he could do about that, but acquiring new spells wouldn't be that hard.

Two guards stood at the library's doors, wearing heavy armor and both holding spears. They look fierce but didn't even bother with Vincent as he walked right in. Others players would be inspected but Vincent was a noble so they didn't dare to disrespect him.

Vincent had no idea about how difficult his stage of the test would be. The first stage had already changed its difficulty by a lot, so getting even harder didn't seem impossible. He found the old man rather quickly, and he was surprise after seeing Vincent.

"Brat. What are you doing here? You're getting stronger pretty quickly huh?" the man laughed.

"Of course. I'm the strongest mage, remember?"

"Sure, sure. Anyway, are you here to complete the second stage of the test?"

[New Quest: Magicians Test part 2

Objective: complete the second phase of the Magicians Test.]

Difficulty: Unknown

"This thing doesn't even show how hard the quest is," Vincent thought but accepted it anyway. He had to complete it, the difficulty didn't matter.

"Good, good. This stage will be different from last time. Last time you wrote in a paper test, so I saw your theoretical knowledge. But now I want so see how you do in real life combat,"

[Quest New Objective: conquer the Lost Leaf Dungeon in its HELL difficulty, and bring the old man a proof of your accomplishments.]

"That's actually bullshit," Vincent screamed inside.

The hell difficulty of a Dungeon was indeed like its name, hell, and Vincent didn't have a large guild to back him up.

"All right old man, sell me some good spells at least."

Vincent got two new spells. Fire Leech, a spell that did fire damage over time. It was great when killing monsters with a lot of health, like bosses. The Dungeon would have them so he thought it was a good idea to grab that spell.

The other spell he got was a healing spell. It was from the water element and could heal small wounds, aka not that much HP, but it was still a healing at the end, nice to have one.

To complete the Dungeon Vincent would need a party, and he was the only player in the city at that moment, so he had to hire people. A noble status gave the player a lot of benefits, and hiring NPCs was one of them. The price of these NPCs were also cheap, so it was a win win for Vincent.

The place where one could find those NPCs were at the guild hall. It was a huge place that took care of the affairs regarding the guilds. The player could also hire mercenaries there, and that was precisely what Vincent was trying to do.

"Hello, how can I help you?" said a beautiful women right after Vincent walked in.

"Hello. I want to hire some mercenaries, can you show me who's available?" Vincent asked.

"Of course," she said, smiling.

The two of them talked while she showed him all the mercenaries available to work. They were all level 10 as these mercenaries would never pass the player's level. Vincent created a well rounded party with two tanks, two healers, and one physical DPS. In the end it costed him 80 silver coins, which was a lot to him at that moment. The good thing was that these NPCs would last a week by his side, so he could use them for other purposes after clearing the Dungeon.

Vincent needed to complete that Dungeon before all the players arrive there. It would be a hell of a difficult task, but he trusted in his skills.

Vincent walked through the streets with fierce mercenaries behind him. If any player saw that they would be impressed. The Dungeon they were going to was called Corrupted Prison. It was not far. In fact, it was within the city itself, just beneath an abandoned castle at the west side. To be honest, Vincent wasn't that confident in conquering the Dungeon in his first try. If he had a true party that would be a different story. A party would have synergy. But a bunch of mercenaries? That wasn't the case for them.

Vincent arrived in front of the abandoned castle. He look towards it, and then looked at his party of mercenaries.

"It will be hard, but I have to do it," he puffed out his chest, and bravely walked in...

While that happen, two strange figures talked to each other.

"All the preparations are done?" one shadow asked the other.

"Yes master. And I also found a good human candidate. He seems to have aptitude for the darker arts."

"Good. We will capture him when the time is right."

Both of the figures vanished, and Vincent didn't know anything about that.
