10 The Desert Temple

"Here, let me sign us up for a mission. I'll pick an easy one since each area can only teleported to once, meaning no one can help us if we end up in a mad situation." He started inputting information in the terminal. This was the final straw for Ralsei. Way too suspicious.

Ralsei thought the best way to leave is to pretend he hasn't noticed his intentions, and truly did not want to go on a mission. It seemed like a pretty reasonable excuse to him. "I don't want to go on a mission as soon as I get here, though. I would prefer to take a moment to look around town." Ralsei looked at Noah, who seemingly didn't hear his words, was still inputting things in the terminal.

'Uh oh' Ralsei inwardly thought. 'He's still signing us up, he clearly has suspicious motives.' Alarm was ringing through his head. 'I gotta get out of here! Preferably somewhere barren of people... This wouldn't have happened if I looked like a normal human, now would it!'

'I don't have time, but how do I escape!?' Needing to hurry a decision, he just decided to sneak away slowly without sound while they were distracted with the terminal. If forcefully taken, at last resort he could at least try making a big commotion. Ralsei crouched down, he had absolutely no skills in any silent movement techniques, but he could still try. Attempting to even out his feet as much as possible to reduce noise, he started taking gentle steps backwards. Ralsei kept his eyes on Noah, watching intently. If he turned around, Ralsei would make a run for it. Hopefully Noah wouldn't bother to give chance. Nearing a building, he could make a turn, which would put him out of sight.

Ralsei felt his back touch the wall. He felt around with his left arm, and felt the area where he could quickly make a turn and at least be out of sight. Taking his eyes off Noah, who was still fiddling around with the terminal, Ralsei quickly made a turn, which put him out of sight. He breathed a sign of relief, and prepared to leave.

'THUMP' His body was suddenly pulled back, with an arm around his shoulder to his chest. The sudden shock of being touched made his body try to violently jerk towards, but he didn't move, the arm kept him firmly in place.

"SAY!" "If you back off like this you'll never be a strong hunter!"

Ralseis' heart was racing, 'He caught me, what do I do!? Theres no one else in sight, and even if there was, whose to say they'll be friendly?'

As he was turned around by Noah, the sight of the teleporter have him an idea. 'Since the teleporter to a place can only be teleported to once.... If I go in and teleport before he catches up, i'll be safe!'

Noah put his hand around Ralseis' waist, and started walking towards the teleporter. 'Quick, I need to think! He's so strong, how can I get away from him in time?! How to I activate the portal?!' He focused his look around the teleportation area. It was a circle around 5 meters in diameter. In the middle, he saw two things that weren't there before. Two small rectangular beams coming from the floor, with two areas to place your hand. 'This is likely some sort of way to make sure everyone is ready, and people don't get teleported at the wrong time.'

A bold plan started to form in Ralseis head. 'Push him away, and me towards the teleport area with my scarf, and then put both hands on the area, and hope it teleports. I know this isn't a great plan.... but it's all I have!'

Walking towards the teleporter together, Ralsei knew the time was now. Ralsei adopted a temporary aggresive mindset, then slightly positioned his feet to make turning easier. Suddenly, he turned his to the side, and before Noah could react, he whipped his scarf against him! Flying through the air towards the portal, he would not look back. As he landed, ralsei ran as fast as his legs could take him.

Behind, stood a visibly shocked Noah. "What...what happened!"

The pedestals were close. He sent out his scarf and wrapped it around the pedestal so he could launch himself towards them. He quickly put his hands on them, one on each. 'I hope this works!' Ralsei looked down, and saw himself being turned into a blue mist. 'Is this the teleportation! YES!' 'Hopefully Noah won't end up here with me...' Ralsei raised his head and turned around. He saw Noah just standing in the distance, still shocked. 'I don't know what shocked him so much... but good for me!'

.......

Ralsei quickly dissipated from sight, leaving a greatly shocked Noah behind. "W-What? What happened? He just ran away from me! His facial expression said it all... he was afraid of me! But why?! I just wanted to help them!"

He leaned against a building wall, and started to think. "I'M STUPID!" "The hunter lifestyle and the way we act is very different from most people..." "Looking at this from a commoners point of view, I was just trying to lure an exotic being somewhere we can be alone!"

"He teleported alone to escape from me... but this is his first mission! These can be very dangerous, especially since theres no way to tell the exact difficulty without going in!"

Noah felt guilty, 'This is my fault!' He looked up the coordinates of the mission area. 'This... I can run there within two hours.... be safe!'

......

The glow rescinded, and inside a sandstone temple, a black furry creature appeared. This was ralsei who just teleported.

He heard a gasp of relief and shock behind him. He quickly turned around, and saw a boy in tattered commoners clothes...
