11 Chapter 9

After I made my declaration I felt my excitement soar even higher.

A thing I didn't think was possible.

"Hey, did you hear what that man just said. Arrest him, right now!"

Though my mood was dampened a bit after several marines in the plaza started running towards me, their weapons at the ready.

'Well, looks like it's time to GTF.' I thought.

I then turned and started running, Mira running right by her side. Giving me a dirty look as she did so which I promptly ignored.

"Wait, stop! Stop, I said!"

"Quickly, capture that man and his lover!"

"Hey, aren't those two bounty hunters that come to the office all the time?"

"They are. So those bastards were actually pirates all along. Unforgiveable!"

"Let's bring them to justice!"

The marines chasing Mira and I just kept shouting more and more comments, but the two of us just continued to ignore them and make our escape.

Even when several of the comments from the marines talked about Mira and I being lovers.

Which we are not.

I mean that's not to say I don't think Mira is a beautiful young woman. Because she definitely is.

Pure unblemished skin, curves in all the right places, not to mention an ass you could bounce a quarter off of. Yeah, even at only sixteen years old Mira an is an A+ beauty that I am sure will only become even more gorgeous as she gets older.

But us being lovers.

No.

Though I can't say the idea hasn't crossed my mind once or twice recently.

'I wonder, would Mira be open to having that kind of relationship with me?' I thought.

As the two of us arrived at our ship and quickly weighed anchor and unfurled our flag, which immediately caught the wind blowing us and set us sailing on the open sea.

Officially kickstarting our career as pirates.

Because right now our main sail is our pirate flag flying proudly.

Mira and I have even picked a crew name already.

We're going to call ourselves the Kenway Pirates.

Which Mira suggested. Really. I swear. 

...

So anyway...

A few minutes after Mira and I set sail we noticed several of the navy warships were starting to sail after us and chase us.

When they did Mira turned her gaze to me and stated looking at me quickly. "You see the situation you got us into because of your big mouth."

"Yeah. And?" I spoke. "What's done is done. I said what I said, I meant it, and I don't for a second regret it." I explained. "Besides, compared to what we'll face in the future in our pirating careers this situation right now is nothing."

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

Then immediately after I said that several cannonball's were launched from the navy warships and crashed into the water near our ship, exploding and throwing massive pillar of waters in the air as they did so.

Mira continued glaring at me as mist from the water pillars rained down on the two of us.

"Stop worrying so much." I told her. "After all, you're a member of the crew of the next king of the pirates. I'll get us out of this situation, no problem." I spoke.

Because if I don't then the words I just spoke at Rogers execution would mean nothing.

Which I cannot allow.

So it's time to show the navy exactly who they're dealing with.

(3rd Person: POV)

As the navy warships continued chasing Edward and Mira on their much smaller ship, the marines standing on the deck of the warships noticed something peculiar.

No matter how many cannonball's were fired at Mira and Edward's ship none of them ever hit the mark.

Each and every time Edward maneuvered his ship out of the path of destruction, like the skilled helmsman he was.

"Fuck, why can't we destroy one ship!"

"Keep firing, we're bound to hit it eventually!"

"Yeah! That ship and its crew are nothing special. Just two no-name pirates who are about to face justice!"

The marines kept shouting comments in the direction of Edward and Mira's ship.

Some of which managed to reach the ears of the two of them. Yet they both ignored the words the marine's were shouting in their direction.

As he continued steering his ship Edward spun the ships steering wheel hard to the right, and after doing so the ship turned to its side.

Giving Edward and Mira and clear view of the navy warships.

The moment this happened Edward smirked. He then stepped away from the steering wheel, drawing the two cutlass swords at his waist after he did so. "Mira, take over the wheel."

"That's a given." Mira bluntly replied.

She then moved to the steering wheel and grabbed it.

The moment she did so Edward reached the edge of their ship.

Right after he did so he swung his blades and sent out several flying slashes in the direction of the navy warships chasing them.

Because during his and Mira's two years of training in preparation for setting sail he was able to comprehend the technique.

The flying slashes raced through the air and struck the navy warships in succession without fail. Crippling them.

Once Edward was sure the navy warships were no longer able to pursue his ship he sheathed his blades. He then raised both hands in the direction of the navy ships and stuck up his middle finger.

A smirk on his face as he did so.

As he and Mira continued to sail away he kept it up until they were out of range of the navy warships.

While also this happened a person watched the entire event using a pair of binoculars.

It was the woman Edward bedded the other night, Sarah Fortune.

A smirk on her face she removed the binoculars from in front of her eyes and licked her lips in a seductive manner.

"My. I knew Edward was quite a man, but to think he was a pirate. I guess we were more alike than I thought." Sarah mused.

Since just like Edward she is a pirate.

In fact she is the captain of her own pirate crew.

A fact that Edward doesn't know, but will discover much later.

"Something wrong captain?" One of Sarah's crew asked her.

She shook her head. "No, nothing at all." Sarah replied. "Anyway, let's get under way." She said. "There's places to see and treasure to claim."

"Yes, captain!" Sarah's crew replied.

Hearing this Miss Fortune smirked.

Since the sound of her crew following her orders was music to her ears.

So with that the Fortune Pirates themselves got under way.

Along with many others.

All of whom were on their way to the Grand Line to claim the treasure Roger had left behind.

Thus the 'Great Pirate Era' had officially begun.
