10 Planning

Let's calm down for a minute and think about what just happened.

Unlike it should have been, Momonga did not lead Nazarick into the New World. Considering that there is no realistic chance of him somehow following us, Nazarick is completely without the Supreme Beings.

I suppose that makes me the highest authority in Nazarick then.

That might make things a lot more complicated than I had anticipated.

I might be the Overseer of the floor guardians, but my authority still falls short of any of the guild members.

Any orders that I give might very well get questioned by the others. Momonga didn't have have that problem since all NPCs inherently thought his words were correct.

On the other hand I have the benefit that I already possess knowledge of political factions and future events, so I will have to heavily rely on that to avoid mistakes.

I will also have to keep certain events from happening.

One of those is Shalltear getting controlled by a world item, in fact I would feel much safer if that world item got into our possession as soon as possible.

In case Shalltear gets controlled I will be the only one capable of engaging her in single combat, furthermore I am also not sure if reviving NPCs can be done by another NPC, so I should avoid casualties as much as I can.

I should also think about a goal other than world domination.

Although the NPCs falsely assumed that it had been Momonga's goal in the show, it was still a reasonably possible goal to accomplish.

Without Momonga, who represented a big part of our fighting strength I would be foolish to try doing the same, so I should focus on survival for now.

The other problem is that I am not sure if I should even trust myself. The Albedo on show, although inherently composed, was still someone that would rather kill her enemies than deal with them as equals.

That means I should have someone to keep me in check in case it is needed.

I won't consider someone from the New World even though they might prove useful due to there knowledge, simply because I can't trust anyone fully nor am I willing to take the risk.

The smartest person is probably Demiurge, but I wouldn't put it past him to scheme something behind my back.

Cocytus and Shall tear are also out since both of them aren't the brightest and would probably resort to killing our enemies as well.

Aura and Mare are simply too childish and I don't know the maids well enough to consider any of them.

Pandora's actor... no. I won't even honor that thought with a further explanation.

And that leaves... Sebas.

I suppose it would be good to have someone with a strong sense of justice keep me in check, while still putting Nazarick's wellbeing above all else.

It's decided then.

I took on the posture that had been ingrained into my body through years of standing in the throne room. I walked a few steps to get used to it again, luckily muscle memory helped with that.

I slowly strode to the great entrance door and gently pushed it open. There wasn't nearly as much resistance as I expected, but I am unsure whether that is a design choice or simply a side effect of my now obviously much stronger body.

I closed the door behind me.

As I looked around I once again realized how limited my senses had been in the last four years.

The walls I thought I knew appeared to be so much more "real". Like anything I had seen until now was nothing more than a pale copy of the original.

Then I found, standing in the distance, the person I had been looking for.

Sebas was standing almost motionless next to the Pleiades, with a stern expression adorning his face.

As I approached his head turned to me for a brief moment before turning back.

"Sebas"I said.

"My lady" he turned to me with a hint of surprise on his face, since he obviously expected me to just continue on my way like I had done for so many years.

'I can't really blame him since none of us really talked to each other until now.'

"Would you please accompany me for a moment?"I questioned.

He looked almost confused by now.

"Might I ask what it is my lady would like me to do?" Sebas questioned in return.

"It is a matter of utmost importance for Nazarick. So if you would please follow me."I answered.

A hint of suspicion shot through his eyes.

"Would you like me call on Lord Demiurge instead. He would probably be much better suited for a matter like thi-"

But before he could finish his sentence I interrupted him.

"No."

He was silent for a brief moment before reacting.

"I understand my lady, please lead the way." he said before turning to the Pleiades. "While I am gone Yuri Alpha will be leading the Pleiades."

"""As you command, Lord Sebas.""" The maids spoke in unison.

I turned around and began walking back to the throne room.

Sebas was lowly following behind me.

As I opened the door, both Sebas and I walked inside, before the door closed fell shut behind us.

I continued walking until I stopped in front of the huge throne and turned around to face Sebas.

"What did my lady wish to speak about with a humble butler like myself." Sebas asked with the same stern expression he always had.

"I... need your opinion."I said, almost sounding like a whisper.

Sebas looked to be confused once again.

"What might trouble you so much that you would seek out my opinion.?"

I tilted my head down slightly, a sad expression slowly replacing the small smile that was normally there.

"Sebas."I started, but the next words almost didn't want to leave my lips. "Lord Momonga has left... permanently. As of this moment there are no Supreme Beings remaining within Nazarick."

But I wasn't yet finished.

"Furthermore Nazarick has been transported through unknown means to a still unknown world."

Silence.

Sebas didn't answer, not that I could blame him. There weren't that many things one could do in a situation like this one, especially after hearing that your master had simply left and would not be returning.

"I asked you because I do not know how to explain it to the other guardians, without having them fall apart. Some of them will react especially bad to the news I imagine."

Obviously wanting to face the less depressing matter first he asked. "How does my lady know that we have been transported?"

I couldn't blame him for not wanting to talk about the matter of our creators leaving so I answered him.

"I felt it. It was like passing through a thin veil. I don't know who could have done so nor how it has been done, since it didn't feel like any magic I was familiar with."

A lie obviously.

Well... not completely.

I had felt something like that, but it was simply my senses returning as a side effect to regaining complete control of my body.

"That is... troublesome." he put it mildly, even though his mind was obviously in a state of unrest. I was nonetheless thankful that he tried to focus on the situation at hand.

"Does my lady already have a plan in mind about how to continue" he asked.

I waited for a moment, since any plan I make would rise and fall with the approval of the guardians.

"I... will stand as a proxy for the guild leader until such a time arises that one or more of the Supreme Beings return to Nazarick. I know the chances of them returning might not be high, but I do not want to see Nazarick fall into ruins. Even if you don't want to follow me, then please do it to preserve the memories of our creators."

I didn't even dare to look at him in fear of him rejecting to follow me.

I heard movement and when I chose to look at him he was kneeling in front of me.

"My lady... please lead us so that Nazarick shall not be lost, in hope of our creators returning one day."

A small smile began to adorn my lips. Not the one I kept up as a gesture of politeness, but an honest one.

"Thank you Sebas. Rise and let us protect what has been left in our hands by the Supreme Beings."

I paused before continuing.

"Please notify the floor guardians and tell them to appear on the 6th floor two hours from now. Until then please scout the area surrounding the tomb for any sapient life forms and report at the meeting."

My command didn't differ much from the one in the show, but that was simply because I would have to tell the others about Momonga leaving eventually.

And while I had lied about why I knew we where in another world, it would be better to pretend I was in the same situation as the other guardians.

"As you command, my lady."

Sebas turned around and began walking towards the door to execute my orders.

'This went better than I thought it would.'
