30 Late Night Talks (2)

(Elizabeth's POV)

"So, this is the true path you wished to walk?" She asked, looking him in the eyes.

After a moment of silence, Ciaran responded.

"While I would say my path did not change, it just got more complicated and dangerous."

While processing everything, Liz looked between Ciaran and Callista as her mind started to unravel.

What the hell is he thinking? He talks about fighting gods and goddesses like it's a minor inconvenience. Who in their right mind would ever think of something like that?

"What about you?" She asked, turning toward Callista

"If that's what it takes to free him." That was the only thing she said

"Liz." Ciaran began, "In that cave, I discovered I am just a puppet, maybe even a pawn. In some gods or goddesses' plans." He paused as he clenched his fist. "The truth is that I never asked for any of this. I never wanted to be a noble, never wanted to be forced into a marriage, and I certainly never wanted to be a puppet in some grand plan that I don't care about. I want to live the life I want to live." He finished as a defeated look crossed his face.

Liz's face took on a complicated set of emotions after she heard his explanation. Denial. She denied the fact that there were gods that were using her beloved. Anger. She felt anger toward the woman sitting next to him and the gods who wanted to use him. Bargaining. She tried to bargain that she was a better choice than her. Depression. What if he chose Callista instead of her? She would be destroyed. Acceptance…

"You love her, don't you?" She asked

Ciaran got up when she asked him that, and he made his way toward her. When he was close enough, he gently grabbed her face and lifted her face to look at him.

"I do." He softly replied

"What about me?" Liz asked as tears threatened to stream down her face

Ciaran took a moment as he looked into her eyes, and Liz was getting worried by the second. What if he said he didn't love her or was using her? She would be devastated and her heart destroyed.

"Liz." He began still holding her face. "There were two reasons why I was able to survive what happened to me in that cave." He paused as his eyes softened. "And you are one of those reasons. If that's not love, then I don't know what is.

While he didn't outright say it, she now knew that she had a place in his heart, and she only needed to be patient, and now all her doubts had cleared up. She now knew she was on the right part, and no matter what, she was going to help him achieve his goal of freedom.

As she took a sigh of relief, a warm and playful smile graced her lips.

"So, if you are to be the demon king, then I want to be the demon queen. You can have Callista as a lover. I'll allow it." She playfully said and did something that no one expected, not even the author.

After she said that, she grabbed Cairan's face and pulled it close to her, and kissed him. As he was not expecting it, it was easy to pull him in, and Ciaran's mind went blank, and he closed his eyes. Liz looked at Callista's frozen face wide with shock, and she laughed in her head.

Shock and awe. She had learned it from Ciaran, and she knew that it was an excellent tactic, as she was able to steal his first kiss. How did she know that was his first kiss? Simple, she knew everything about him. She didn't spend the last two years just sitting on her butt.

No, she knew she would never be able to beat Callista, so she needed every advantage she could get, and now she had the first kiss.

She meant it when she said that if he were to be the demon king, she would be the demon queen. She would not accept anyone else above her.

As she felt, Ciaran slowly regained his senses before he could back away. She ended the kiss and looked at him with warm (obsessive) eyes, and smiled at him.

"You will be mine." She said as she turned around and walked out of the room with an almost scary smile as she realized she had won this first round against her greatest rival.

Her heart fluttered as she walked out of the room. She heard Ciaran laugh heartily. Even if it took many years, she was patient and knew she would win.

(Callista's POV)

This bitch!! Was the only thing Cas could think of as she saw Elizabeth kissing her Ci.

Demon queen? What kind of cheesy line was that? If anyone were going to be the demon queen, it would be her, no one else.

Watching Elizabeth pull away from Ci and leave, she breathed a sigh of relief until she heard him laughing.

"What is so funny?" She asked with a worried look

"Funny?" He asked, "Both of you think I'll need to be a demon king to be able to fight gods." He paused before adding, "It takes a god to defeat a god, my dear Cas. Now it's time for the epic time skip where I become all-powerful." He said as he laughed again

She could only smile as she saw Ci return to himself again. It seems that both she and Elizabeth could calm him down enough so he could think calmly again, but…

Cas had lost this round to her, and she knew that Elizabeth was starting to have a place in his heart. Before, she would call it a battle between the two of them, but now? Now it was war, and she will not lose to her.

"He is mine." She thought as she left the room
