4 Chapter 4 : Life As An Orphan

[ Konoha Orphanage ]

He looks at his reflection. He has auburn hair and golden brown eyes wearing a white and blue short-sleeved shirt with a high collar and blue shorts.

'To think that I would be reborn as my favorite character.'

Shirou Emiya is the protagonist of the Fate/Stay Night series.

The first time Shirou looked at his appearance he did not think much about it. But later he got a toy sword as a gift from one of the wardens. He felt a strange connection with the toy sword. An alien feeling that he could not describe. A form of resonance. His name Shirou was also a dead giveaway. He knew he was reborn as Shirou Emiya.

'I am glad that I wasn't reborn in the Nasuverse.'

Just thinking about it makes him almost want to commit suicide again.

'Anyways this can be both good and bad depending on the situation.'

'The main problem is the compatibility between the Narutoverse and Nasuverse power systems. Does mana even exist in this world? Is natural energy another name for mana or is it different?'

'Then there is the issue of affinity. Shirou emiya's element and origin both align toward sword. A man-made concept as opposed to natural elements like fire or water. This made him extremely good at specific things but extremely bad at others. In this world how would that affect me? The affinities people have in this world are mostly natural elements or a combination of natural elements.'

'This means there is a high chance I will find it near impossible to cast ninjutsu. Reminds me of Duy, Guy and Lee.'

'Will I even be able to use chakra? If chakra is simply another word for prana in this world then maybe yes but...'

Shirou sat near the table and continued thinking of various possibilities.

'I hope they are the same.'

Taking out his small toy sword, Shirou started twirling it around his fingers.

'Based on my knowledge from Naruto and Type-Moon wiki. Tenketsu and magic circuits are different even though they are similar.'

'Tenketsu is a complex metaphysical network that forms 361 connections. It forms a connection between a person's physical and spiritual energies. Physical energy must refer to the energy components of the body like ATP molecules, cells and such. Spiritual energy must refer to the soul component or the consciousness. Once a person learns to refine chakra they use the tenketsu to combine the energies to form chakra.'

'Magic circuits on the other hand have varying strength and numbers depending on the magus bloodline and they are present in the soul only. They can take in the physical energy of the body but magi use it to draw in mana from the atmosphere as it is more abundant. The energy of the body is very limited when compared. The circuits refine the energy into prana and allow a magus to cast spells.'

"Everyone, it's time to wake up." One of the warden comes in.

"Morning Ishida-san." Says Shirou.

"Oh Shirou, you are up early. Don't tell me the nightmares started again." Asks the warden Ishida worriedly.

"No, just woke up early."

"That's a relief. Anyway, I am going to wake up those lazy brats. Take care."

"Thanks. You take care too."

The warden goes through each room waking up all the children. Ishida is a retired ninja. He participated in the first Ninja World War and managed to survive. His face even has three scars which looked quite cool to Shirou. After the war Ishida became tired of the ninja life so he decided to retire and work as one of the warden in the orphanage.

"Wake up brat. Don't you have to go to the academy today?"

"Five more minutes." Says a boy having no intention of waking up.

"Sigh.. no other way then.."

Ishida forms a ninjutsu seal with one hand.

"[Suiton - small water ball]."

A small ball of water forms and rockets towards the kid's face.

(Splash)

"Cough.. you..cough.. what the...?"

The now wet boy is fully awake, glaring at Ishida.

"Just you wait old man. When I become the Hokage, my first order will be to fire you." He screams.

"HaHa.. then the first thing you should do Hokage-sama, is wake up early in the morning. HaHa..."

Ishida says while leaving.

"Damn it.. just you wait."

Hearing all this Shirou smiles. The boy's name is Akira Sato. He is a first year student at the Ninja Academy. His parents died in the first Ninja War.

After some time, Akira who cleaned himself up came and saw Shirou at the table so he sat near.

"Hey Shirou, guess what." He says excitedly.

"Hmm. What is it?"

"The academy will finally teach us a jutsu. All the theory so far has been boring as hell."

"Really. That's great. I wonder what it would feel like to throw fireballs out of my mouth."

"Don't worry. You will also learn once you attend."

"Yeah, that will be great."

Akira and Shirou then saw the other children gathering around. It seems like everyone has woken up.

'Sigh, if only Akira knew. My body may have conflicts with the power system of this world. I hope that I can easily figure out and fix whatever happens.'

'Best case scenario, there won't be much issues. I might be able to use both chakra and prana. If I remember correctly there is an energy within the body just like chakra in Nasuverse. It's called "od". But due to its limited nature when compared to mana which was everywhere in the atmosphere, it was only briefly mentioned and most of the time ignored in the story.'

As everyone gathered and started breakfast, Shirou was still thinking about prana and chakra.

'I need to access my chakra, od or whatever.'

'I should try to meditate and see if I can sense any supernatural energy inside my body. If I don't get any results then I will have to ask Ishida, risks be damned.'

Shirou decided and started eating.
