19 Alert: Rhy activated skill - “Demonic stare

We walked into the small room.

"Isn't it great, I can summon another monster?"

"Great? You want to summon a helpless monster and have it risk it's life for you, sacrificing itself just to be replaced? How could you? I thought you'd changed?"

"That's not what I meant… I mean you wouldn't have to fight alone anymore."

"I don't care about that. I thought you were different from all the other humans! So what makes you so happy to control and manipulate monsters for your own use? You're just like everybody else."

"That's unfair rhy! They aren't living things. They don't have feelings or emotions"

"I'm a summon. What makes me different from them? That your control didn't get me? If I was put under your spell would you have treated me like that?"

"No! I would never!"

"So what makes me different? What makes me exempt?"

"No I… I.. I didn't mean it like that!"

"Your first words to me were commands to make me a slave! So why am I to believe that you would act any differently to any other summons?"

"Because… just shut up! I only want to help! You and Avon make clearing gates look simple. I don't want to be a burden! I don't want to only watch your backs as you fight with everything! I don't want to stand watching anymore!" she ran past me pushing me to the side. She ran out of the inn, charging into the stone streets, tears streaming down her face as she ran, her eyes clenched shut. She ran to the arena to Avon running into his arms.

"Chaaya! What's wrong?"

"It's Rhy we had an argument." she was crying tears flowing from her eyes like rivers.

"What the hell did he say! That bastard I'll kill him! You're supposed to be his master and he made you cry?"

"No, it's my fault. I just wanted to stop it from happening again. I just wanted to protect you two. I'm sorry I shouldn't have come here, I just didn't know where else to go."

"I'm confused. We should get a drink and you can tell me about it when you've calmed down."

"Hey asshole you running, we've got a match now!"

"Sorry man another time. She takes precedence."

"Damned brat! Fine but I'll hold you to it."

They walked to the tavern sitting down at the table and ordered two cups of water.

"So why did you and Rhy fight?"

"Well you know that Rhy is my summon right?"

"Yeah but what does that matter?"

"Well I used to be pretty arrogant and think of summons as tools but when I summoned him he wasn't under my control. And he was still treated as a summon. He was abused and referred to as an object everywhere he went. It was awful to watch. He already hated humans but I'm not sure why, anyway this didn't help but after the last month I think he was starting to warm up to me. But today when the guild said I could summon more monsters, I was so happy. I hate feeling helpless. I hate feeling like a setback, a hindrance. So I thought I could summon monsters and help you fight. But Rhy got angry when I suggested I would summon more monsters because he thought I'd treat them as slaves like I would've done if he had fallen under my spell. The thought never crossed my mind. Honestly I thought they would be like him. I just want to help. He's my family and I don't want to lose him. I don't want to stand there helpless as you two are cut down protecting me. The rate that he advances is amazing but he also takes way too many risks and is more than happy to fight half dead. I don't want there to be a time when he takes a risk and challenges a gate and dies trying to achieve my dream."

"Jeez. Did you try explaining it like that to him?"

"No, you know how he gets when he thinks someone has betrayed him? When it comes to humans he sees only evil. I don't know what could have happened to him for his hatred to grow so much."

"Well I suggest you go home and talk to him calmly and if he still doesn't listen I'll beat him until he does."

"Heh heh thank you Avon. I'm sorry I interrupted your dueling"

"No don't worry I'd have beaten them anyway this is the seventh time they've challenged me. Too bad everyone isn't as strong as Rhy huh?"

"Maybe but isn't the rarity of something that makes it so much better to find? I think after the days of fighting and searching for a worthy opponent, finding one after all the searching is better than a thousand being right in front of you."

"Wow I've never seen it that way. I guess we both helped each other huh?"

They parted ways outside of the tavern. She ran home, she ran quickly. So quickly that she didn't see the man in front of her.

"Hey watch where you're going! You might run into some dangerous people." She was shoved into a dark alley with seven other people.

"Now girlie give us all your positions and we won't have any problems"

"What are you waiting for? Give us everything you got!"

"No"

"What was that I couldn't hear" the man pulled a knife from his back pocket waving it around in the air.

"Help me. Please Rhy"

"Quit your mumbling and give us everything you've got. I am running out of patience." he was holding the sharp knife close to her skin, pressing it close into her cheek.

"Save me, RHY!!!!"

I appeared out of nowhere. Where was I? Is this an alley? Is this guy holding a knife? Is he? That scumbag!!!!!

I dropped down in between the mugger and Chaaya grabbing the guy's hand so tight.

"Who the hell are you? You think you're some kind of hero. Well mr big guy just leave and I won't kill you Deal?"

'Error: Skill force unlocked - "Demonic stare" '

'Alert: Rhy activated skill - "Demonic stare" '

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? HOW DARE YOU LAY A FINGER ON HER?!?! SHE IS MINE!!!!!!"

Fear washed over his face, sweat pouring down his bald head. He dropped the knife and tried to run away but my grip didn't loosen. His friends ran away screaming he struggled trying to free himself. I dropped him and he fell backwards into a wall hitting his head. He scrambled away fear plastering his face.

"Rhy?" I turned back to chaaya, her face streaming with tears again.

"Of course." She ran and hugged me tight, her arms wrapped around me.

"I'm sorry Rhy. I won't summon anything else."
