1 I just woke up...

Ashley truly didn't know how much time passed or where he ended up.

All he knew was the world had long since changed as he floated freely and unconstrained by anything.

Gravity and time, two absolute laws of the world failed to leave a mark on him as he floated in the void.

'A pity I'm already dead. And I've been floating here forever!' He looked at his translucent body that was connected to the earth by a thin stripe of rainbow that anchored him in place.

'Thank god I have this tether though, otherwise I'd probably float off into space.' He mused silently while counting the years.

1, 2, 3, 4. Realizing he could track the amount of time he spent floating in space, he started to count every time the earth rotated around the sun and continued on indefinitely.

After a near uncountable amount of time passed, and his count reached 999,999 years, he felt the tether that connected him to the earth slacken then start to slowly pull him towards the planet.

He wept and mourned the fact he was unable to sleep as even the idea of sleeping eluded him as he hung between heaven and earth.

The tether tightened and then yanked him downwards towards the planet.

Flames started to wreath the rainbow-like tether as he was dragged down.

Clouds flew past him as he entered the atmosphere and the wind started to make his tattered clothes flap in the wind.

Seeing the world which he had thought of as small, grow larger and then surpass his memory of the planet when he lived on it, he grew confused.

'Why is the world so big, I know I could only see the clouds and a few oceans, but what on earth is it this big?' Ashley mentally screamed while the tether started to glow with a divine light.

The landmass he was falling towards started to shake and crack and then disappeared into the sea, causing the landmass to flood.

'Hey tether, stop, halt, at least slow down!' After floating in space for a near incalculable amount of years, whether he'd admit it or not, the tether was the only constant.

As he looked at the island-like pieces of land grow closer, he realized that he didn't see any spaceships at any time during his long stay above the skies.

'I'd at least think humanity advanced enough to expand towards the stars.'

He rubbed his chin then felt a jolt and everything went black.

...

...

...

<Waking Host.>

'Ugh, what is it, who's poking me, hey stop!' Ashley woke up while looking around irritatedly the thing that kept poking him as he finally, finally fell asleep.

<Ding. Host has slept for three years, randomly assigning race to Host.>

<Ding. Host has been assigned a race. Race is Unevolved Crystal Scaled Serpent.>

<Ding. Host has unlocked Newbie Packager.>

'System? I got a system? So I didn't spend nearly a million years floating for nothing!' He turned giddy with excitement and wished to find a human do he could and engage in a long conversation but he knew that he'd have to overcome the species barrier, and even then, he doubted that a snake could ever speak.

<Ding. Showing Host's status.>

[Name : Ashley]

[Title : Favored Son of Heaven, Sacred Child of Earth]

[Evolution : Unevolved]

[Race : Crystal Scaled Serpent]

[System : Heavenly Dominator System]

<Ding. Host needs to evolve to upgrade the system.>

Ashley was wrapped in darkness, after which a light streamed through cracks that formed in the darkness.

Then light dazzled his eyes, and as he took his first breath, he nearly wept in joy.

His heart started to beat faster as his lungs started breathing in fresh air, he opened his mouth and a shrill hiss rang out.

'Well, I guess I'm a snake now, there goes my talks with humans...'

He looked around and saw snakes the same length as him with shimmering scales the length of a ruler.

'Eh, I understand that I'm in the future and everything, but why are snakes that long?!' He pointed his small tail at a snake that probably made prehistoric creatures look like children playing house.

Iridescent scales that reflected light at various angles while it's eyes sparkled with intelligence.

It looked around and then focused it's gaze on Ashley.

Ashley : "..." 'I just woke up, please don't eat me.'

It's tongue flicked out, then it slithered out of it's nest and came over and looked down at Ashley.

Ashley froze and then looked at what he assumed to be his mother with fear in his eyes.

The snake lowered her head and gently licked Ashley's head before slithering away.

'Oh heavens, why did that scare the living shit out of me!?' He relaxed and looked around as his mom, a giant snake slithered back to her nest and coiled herself into a ball.

He looked around and saw snakes similar to himself slithering and writhing on the floor.

There were probably fifteen crystal eggs and five of them were still unhatched.

His body started to writhe as he tried to move, yet found it was harder than most snakes made it look.

Ashley wriggled his body forward and moved out of his egg and landed on the floor with a soft thud.

'Why is it so high up....' He groaned in pain, then remembered something.

'Open newbie pack!' He shouted while inwardly rolling around happily.

<Ding. Newbie Package opening...>

<Ding. Host has gained, the Divine Heavenly Book of Charm, one Divine Intelligence Pill.>

<Ding. Host has unlocked Divine Yin Constitution.>

<Ding. Host's gender has become indistinguishable...>

'How the fuck? What the fuck does that even mean!?'

<Ding. Host has unlocked the Divine Yin Constitution, so host's body is full of Divine Yin Qi, so host no longer has a gender defining organ, though host does lean to more of a female image.>

Ashley : '...' 'Fuck my life...'
