10 Life & Death battles and "BOSS Fight! The Tomb of the Goblin Blade King"

After they finished healing, George and the others got up to go into the next room, the third room.

"I've just gained three levels!" Gobcastt exclaimed, looking at his status page. At this, the rest of the goblins opened their status pages, Gobsheeild had gone up to level 26, Gobcastt to level 27, and the other three had all gone up 1 level.

"Come on guys, don't lose focus of the mission, we still have rooms to clear, get any new skills and let's get moving." George said. Although he said this, he couldn't help but smile at his own improvements.

"okay, I'm gonna get a skill called Inspect, it allows me to gain a brief understanding of monsters and items around me." Gobcastt said, giddy with excitement.

"I'll get the 'Iron Fortress' ability, it matches with my iron element, and allows me to turn my skin into solid iron, as long as i'm standing still." Gobsheeild replied, his voice extremely monotone.

When they looked through the entrance to the third room, they saw nothing, but even though they saw nothing, they all knew that something was in there.

Just as they did before, they put the two tanks up the front, followed by the Gobroge, then everyone else.

George buffed the two tanks before they all slowly entered the room, as soon as everyone entered the room, another stone door fell down behind them, and then, two bulking behemoths made from stone fell from the ceiling, along with that, 3 tentacles of moss sprang out from the walls towards them.

Gobcastt immediately used his new inspect skill, and he saw the descriptions of both monsters, "The big guys are called rock golems, they're really strong, really hard, but also really slow, the moss things are the same as before!"

"Okay, Gobsheeild and Gobshlice, you two fight the big guys while I support. Gobcastt you fire from range, and Gobroge, try to take down the moss things!" George commanded.

And so they did.

At its current level, Gambler's Might could stack up to twice, so George quickly buffed the tanks by adding +20% to both their strength and endurance attributes. Of course this multiplies the effects of the cost, causing him to lose 25 points to his highest attributes.

Once again, Gobsheeild wielded his massive tower shield and ran up to one of the two rock golems.

The Rock Goblin swang down with one of its huge rocky fists, slamming into the shield.

"Ughh!" Gobsheeild grunted, being pushed back a bit.

Even with the buff, these things were still super tough.

Gobsheeild pulled out a large mace that he had hooked onto his belt, the mace was covered in spikes and looked quite sinister in the dimly lit room.

While the rock goblin was lifting its fist back up to attack, Gobsheeild swung out, smashing his club into the side of the overbearing rock monster.

"Take that you lousy slab of stone!"

Unfortunately, the strike didn't do much, only causing a slight bit of rubble to fall off of the rock golem's waist.

Even more unfortunate was that this attack left Gobsheeild completely undefended, so when the monster hit down once again, Gobsheeild was sent flying.

"Crap!", Gobsheeild managed to get out before slamming into one of the walls of the dungeon.

Luckily however, Gobsheeild was quite resilient, and landed on the moss, dampening the attack.

What wasn't so lucky was that the rock goblin was slowly moving towards him, and he had dropped both his mace and tower shield.

Seeing Gobsheeild's predicament, Gobcastt began firing spells at the rock monster.

However, it had too little effect.

Gobsheeild attempted to get up and run, but it was too late, the rock goblin was already in front of him lifting its head-sized fist.

"Ahhh!" Gobsheeild screamed in a less than masculine manner before giving a short prayer.

The goblin's arm came down.

And then stopped.

"Piercing Strike!"

The rock goblin fell to the ground, dead with a small head going through its head.

Gobroge, who had just finished up the rest of the glittering wood moss monstrosities, looked around, seeing where in the fight he was needed. He saw Gobsheeild about to be splattered, and quickly rushed over.

Gobroge used Piercing strike, an attack that allowed his weapons to ignore the armour of an opponent if it was a sneak attack, and the armour wasn't equivalent to more than 15 endurance points more than his own.

George sprinted over, using Contractual Obligation to partially heal the wounded Gobsheeild.

"Thanks guys, I thought I was gonna die there", Gobsheeild replied, his green face turning slightly pale.

Soon, another grunt sounded out, the three looked over and saw a struggling Gobshlice cutting out at the other rock golem.

Instantly, Gobsheeild grabbed his shield and mace and ran over.

Gobcastt began casting fireballs, trying his best not to hit anybody.

"Oww!", he failed.

Under the constant barrage of attacks, the Rock Goblin fell.

The 5 party members collapsed to the floor, heaving.

"Alright everyone, let's see what they dropped!", George said in a huff.

At this, they all perked up, after all, who didn't like getting loot.

On the floor, the group collected 58 copper coins. They also found a heap of yellowish-green moss on the floor which was quite the contrast to the vibrant green moss around them.

"What is it?" one of them said.

Gobcastt had put 10 points into his inspection ability, giving him the ability to view the properties of items, although it was very basic.

"Pass it here, let me inspect it", Gobcastt said, activating his inspection ability.

[Name: Healer's Moss

Rarity: Rare

Properties: Heal, Detoxify, Permanent endurance boost]

Gobcastt's hands began to shake.

"I...It's a rare item!" He said, his hands quivering

"Gobcastt, can you speak up, it almost sounded like you said it was a rare item", George said, laughing a little.

"Yeah, Gobcastt, what does it say?", Gobshlice said, lightly slapping him on the back.

Gobcastt took a few deep breaths and repeated, "This is a rare item called healer's moss, it can heal, detoxify, and permanently increase endurance".

The room fell silent.

"Gobcastt, are you sure...", George said, his face becoming serious.

"Yes", Gobcastt replied, equally serious, everyone in the room knew what this meant.

"When we go back, I'll set up some more precautions to stop spies from entering this place", George said.

The other 4 nodded.

"alright, let's rest up and head to the next room." George commanded.

"Yes, Sir!" The others replied.

The water was interesting, I knew it was a primary element, but I didn't really know what it was, the closest I had seen of water was the water spirit that the shaman-shrooms could summon.

"Oh well, I'll look into it later", I thought, going back to the fight.

A few minutes later.

"Did you see that!", I said, watching the fight.

"That sword went straight through that stone golems forehead, that was awesome!", I was giddy with excitement.

The fight that had just occurred was so cool, how couldn't I be?

I wondered how they'd go against the mid-tier spirits.

...

The group of 5 walked into the 4th room, on guard and ready to strike out at anything.

Just like every other time, there was nothing inside.

When all of them passed the entrance, another stone slab slammed down, blocking them in.

Suddenly, two massive spirits twice the size of Gobshlice, who was quite tall for a goblin, appeared out of thin-air. One was a fire-spirit, which raised the temperature of the room by several degrees.

While the other was an air spirit, whose mere presence caused some of the looser patches of moss to rip off the walls and fly around the room unnaturally.

Seeing these two God-like creatures in front of them, the goblins went somewhat pale.

How was this a small power increase from the rock goblins?!

However, they once again steeled their nerves and rushed in.

The Gobsheeild went for the fire spirit, while Gobshlice went for the air spirit.

As soon as Gobsheeild reached the fire spirit, he activated his new iron fortress ability, his green skin taking on a silver luster.

Even still, the Presence of the fire spirit made him feel like he was being cooked alive.

Gobshlice on the other hand was also struggling.

Not only was it difficult to even get close to the air spirit due to the gusting winds it emitted, but the air spirit kept sending out wind blades that kept cutting into his legs and arms.

Gobroge went over to help Gobsheeild, using his pointed rapier to stab at the flame spirit, having almost no effect on the massive creature no matter how hard they tried.

While the three of them fought, George and Gobcastt searched for the Shaman-shrooms, providing occasional heals and support to the front-line fighters.

Gobcastt attempted to cast his flame skills, but they kept getting blown out by the air spirit.

This forced the two caster based goblins to search for the shrooms by hand.

after a time, a shout rang out from Gobshlice, who was currently fighting the air spirit by himself.

It seemed like the air spirit had hit him right in the side which caused blood to spurt out everywhere.

Despite this semi-major injury, Gobshlice kept up stalling the spirit while the others searched for the Shaman-shrooms.

After a bit more searching, Gobcastt noticed two particular mushrooms jutting out of the back wall.

He used Inspection at a distance and felt a sinking feeling when he saw the name.

[Name: Shaman-shroom

Properties: Mushrooms that have contracted with Mid-tier spirits]

Knowing his ranged magic was useless, someone would have to go over and destroy them manually.

"Guys, the Mushrooms are on the back wall, one on each side of where the opening to the next room should open up! I'll die if I get close to those spirits, so you guys will have to do it!", Gobcastt yelled over the fighting in the room.

"Gobroge, can you handle the two of them while Gobsheeild and I go and destroy those mushrooms; you are the strongest among us", Gobshlice said, as he one-handedly blocking the air blades of the air elemental while he clutched at his side.

"I should be able to hang on for a bit, just be quick!", Gobroge yelled back.

With this confirmation, Gobshlice ran over to the fire spirit, luring the air spirit along with him.

Gobroge than slashed at the air spirit, gaining its attention, which caused several wind blades to be sent his way.

While Gobroge was dealing with the two spirits, Gobsheeild and Gobshlice managed to slip by while hugging the wall.

They quickly scampered across the room, somewhat slowed by their injuries.

They heard a pained yell behind them, and turned to see Gobroge being caught in the middle of a bunch of airblades and a massive fireball.

The two fighters ran even faster to the end of the room.

Inspecting the exit doorway, which was currently covered by a stone slab, they saw two funny shaped mushrooms peeking out of a crevice.

They both instantly knew this was their target and with the speed of a cheetah, they swung their oversized weapons at the mushrooms.

Almost instantly, the two spirits disappeared, leaving a few items on the ground.

No one was worried about the loot, they all rushed over to Gobroge, who was currently lying on the ground, a massive burn on one side of his body, and a series of long, gorey cuts running across the other.

Gobroge gritted his teeth in pain, on the verge of blacking out.

His wounds were severe and no one knew what to do.

George quickly arrived at the scene and tried to cast Contractual Obligation, but it was no use, the wounds were way too severe.

Everyone shook their heads and looked down, they could do nothing, Gobroge was going to die.

At least that's what they thought.

Gobcastt stood up and said, "Boss, we should try the Healer's moss, the description it had a healing effect".

Everyone else perked up at the idea and agreed that it was worth a shot.

George then quickly pulled out the Healer's moss and slowly fed it into Gobroge's mouth.

Gobroge was still conscious enough to chew on the moss, and with a little help from George's waterskin, managed to swallow.

Almost instantly, a fantastical glow emanated from Gobroge's body, and in less than a minute the cuts on Gamboge's body began to heal, and the reddish-burnt skin on Gobroge's side began to become smoother as it once again turned green.

Everyone let out an audible sigh of relief.

Gobroge got up and inspected himself.

He felt no pain, and everyone couldn't help but wonder how magical that moss was to be able to heal someone to such an extent.

Of course, what they didn't know was that the healing affect had been amplified several fold by the my abilities, but somethings were best left unknown.

As everyone recovered from the shock of the battle and picked up the loot. They picked up 93 copper coins in the room, as well as a strange mushroom. Gobcastt inspected it and almost fainted in excitement.

[Name: Mana-Shroom

Properties: Increase the density of whatever mana is in the area]

When he told the others this, they couldn't help but exclaim in surprise either.

"We are truly lucky the Gods put this dungeon here!", Gobshlice said, putting hands together in what looked like a praying gesture.

After they got over their shock, they checked their levels again, and were almost shocked to death again. Each of them had raised at least 6 levels, Gobshlice and Gobroge raising 7 and 8 levels respectively.

As they were looking over their gains, something suddenly caught Gobcastt's eye.

The massive stone slab that blocked the door to the 5th room suddenly opened up revealing a sign:

"BOSS Fight! The Tomb of the Goblin Blade king!"

Of course, I added that last part as ambiance, but it seemed to made them curious as Gobcastt then said, "Hey, Boss, what's a BOSS Fight?"
