34 The Demon King

"As all of you know, except our new friends here form another world, there was a war between the demon race not long before we were born." Noctis began speaking. "Before, they were called beast race and not demons. They were not a hostile race, and that was before the king of the beasts Jigan, started a war because of my mother." His face turned solemn.

"Yes, I have also heard of the story." Eric said. "Jigan who was of the king of the beasts that time was said to have human features. They said he had black long hair and blood red eyes. He had black feathered wings on his back and a pair of wolf ears."

"Yes, that is what I also heard." Noctis said and nodded with affirmation. "The beast race was said to have half human and half beast forms. And King Jigan was said to be handsome even for human features. One time, it is said that King Jigan crossed the border of the beast realm and human realm by chance and saw my mother and fell in love at first sight."

"I have heard that the deceased queen was a daughter of a marquess in the suburbs bordering the beast realm which is now known as the demon realm." Kyle said in passing. "She is said to be the most beautiful woman in all of the kingdom. Your father the king was infatuated with her and made her his fiancée in no time."

"Yes, and that was why the war began with the beast realm." Noctis said. "While the war was ongoing, that was when they saw the beast men become monsters and demons. King Jigan himself changed and gained enormous power of darkness that we do not know to this day where it came from. The holy priests of the goddess' temple together with the knights of our kingdom, were able to subdue King Jigan. They were only able to imprison him with the limited holy power they have at the time."

"I know of the sealing of the demon king in more detail." Kyle interjected. "It is said that the demon king had tremendous dark magic that he did not have prior to the war. Dark magic was rare like the holy power bestowed by the goddess to the priests in the temple. Not even the magicians back then were able to do anything with the demon king's mighty power. Because the only thing that can counter dark magic was holy power, the priests of temple of the goddess was sent to war. All of them gave their lives and they were only able to seal the demon king and not vanquish him. They were also able to make a barrier between the now called demon realm and the human realm."

"The demon king was so hell bent on getting my mother that I was also cursed by him when he knew of my existence." Noctis said. "Theses eyes are proof of his curse on me. I hated them once, but that was before someone told me that my eyes were beautiful, like shining rubies." His eyes fell upon the sleeping Alyssa.

"If I am not mistaken, the last oracle priestess of the temple of the goddess had given a prophecy before she left this world." Eric said. "That the second coming of the demon king will bring devastation to the human realm, especially in our kingdom."

"Yes. The oracle also foretold of a being that will come from another world, bathed with white holy light." Noctis and the others looked at Jean. "It is said that the being was summoned by the goddess with unlimited holy powers, unlike the holy powers that the priests of the temple was bestowed upon. It is said that the being's holy powers will rival the demon king's dark magic and can defeat him once and for all."

Jean pointed at himself with confusion. "Do you mean me? But I am just an ordinary high school student from where I came from. I do not have holy powers like what you are talking about."

"Well there is only one way to find out." Eric said with a cold tone and nodded at Derrick who was standing by the door.

With a swift move, Derrick passed the distance from the door towards where the other were and quickly unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards Jean. Jean was shocked with the turn of events and can only hold his arms up as defense, but then a bright light suddenly came out of his hands and quickly shielded him from the upcoming attack. Derrick's sword was broken in half upon impact from the white light.

"Well I think that confirms it." Eric said with a cold look.

"Come on Eric, that was a little overkill you know." Noctis sighed.

"Y-You… you just tried to kill me." Jean pointed to Eric and then Derrick. "You are crazy!"

"Well at least we have seen that he really does have holy powers." Kyle said with a blank expression. "But it seems like he still does not know how to use the holy power he has."

"Yes, you are right." Noctis nodded in agreement. "There is more to learn in using holy powers. And because there are no surviving priests that have the blessing of the goddess, I can only think of one who can train him." His eyes darted towards Kyle.

"If it is holy powers, then I only have a rough understanding of it." Kyle said shrugging his shoulders. "All I know of it are the ones that are written in books. If you are okay with that, then I will gladly take him under my wing and train him."

"We have no other choice about this matter." Noctis sighed. "You, your name was Jean correct?"

"Y-Yes." Jean replied.

"You will be going with Kyle for now." Noctis said. "I will be bringing this up to my father the king and we will discuss on what to do with you."

"No!" Jean said. "I will not leave my wife's side!" He said with determination.

"Who is your WIFE!!!" The other men said in unison.

Jean felt fear while feeling the cold aura of the four men. But he stood his ground not willing to leave Alyssa's side.

"I-I do not want to leave Alyssa. I owe her my life and I want to repay her kindness." Jean said after mustering up his courage. The four men seemed somehow very tall in front of him. But he did not back down.

"I understand what you are saying, but because Alyssa is a woman you cannot stay here." Noctis said trying to mask his irritation with a smile. "And if you want to repay her kindness, then helping us solve the problem with the demon king will also ensure Ysa's safety. Playing your part in the prophecy will save her life and also this world."

Jean was deep in thought for a while but then understood what Noctis had said. He nodded and agreed with the prior plan.

"Okay, then I will go with him then." Jean pointed towards Kyle. "By the way, I still do not know of your names." He said tilting his head sideways.

"I am Noctis Elliot Argent, the crown prince of Argentine kingdom." Noctis introduced himself.

"I am Eric Charles Broderick, Alyssa's cousin." Eric said with a cold tone.

"Kyle Michael Fleuret." Kyle introduced himself in a short manner and blank expression.

"I am Derrick, Lady Alyssa's personal knight." Derrick said.

And with that all of the main characters in the novel are now complete. All of this transpired when I was still asleep, and I do not have any knowledge of these men's plans.
