Hasegawa saw Kevin in the gambling den, he hatched a devious plan of trapping the man and stripping away everything from his life.

The cunning Floor Manager called in a friend and the poker table dealer. He instructed the dealer to rig the game in a way that his friend will be the final big winner. Then, he told his friend to egg Kevin into raising the game into high stakes.

Hasegawa is a patient man, he initially let Kevin continuously win and get comfortable playing poker at high stakes. When Kevin shifted to the high stakes table, Hasegawa still let him win a couple of rounds. Kevin was then drunk on victory, he felt that lady luck is with him for the night. With just little provocation, he started betting high.

Suddenly he lost a game when he bet all in. Kevin's arrogance was doused in cold water when he lost all his winning.

One can save a gambler who lost everything, but can never save a gambler who wishes to win back what he lost with more gambling. A hopeful gambler will be ready to take any kind of risk for an opportunity because he is already placing his hopes on luck. Hasegawa came in front of Kevin exactly as one such high-risk opportunity.

The man shed fake anguish over the abrupt end of Kevin's lucky streak and subtly planted the idea of going for another round of gambling. When Kevin asked if there is a way to borrow money, Hasegawa was laughing out deviously in his heart. He knew that the fish has bit the bait and was hooked.

Hasegawa lent him $10,000 at first and manipulated his table letting him win a few rounds and abruptly lose everything. Kevin's high win rate made him think that luck is still with him. He convinced himself that he just needs enough money to make bets and keep playing to make it big.

The more you wish to change your life with gambling, the deeper you sink into the quagmire of taking loans for the bet money. The loans started piling from $10,000 to $50,000 to $100,000 and more. When Hasegawa told him that his overall loan was over $200,000, reality sank into Kevin.

At that time, Kevin only had chips worth $150,000. He thought he will play a few more rounds and clear his debt and call it a night. However, Hasegawa decided that it was time to reel in the fish. Kevin lost game after game, the loan amount was like an ever-present guillotine over his neck. The more Kevin lost, the more he wanted to play more because he already has a loan of $200,000. Soon, Kevin lost everything, he is left with nothing but an exorbitant loan of $200,000.

Hasegawa did not immediately hustle Kevin for the loan money. He let him take a week, Hasegawa wanted to break the spirit of Kevin, letting Kevin think over this huge loan and his inability to pay back the exorbitant amount. Being devious at heart, Hasegawa enjoyed the anguish of men whom he trapped. It always made him feel a perverted turn-on.

As the days go by, Kevin became a husk of a man dealing with the pressure of his huge loan and Casey's dire condition. Kevin was lost in his gloom and paid attention to nothing. During the same week's time, Hasegawa started to hound Leanna more relentlessly. No matter how much she tried to avoid him, he came after her strongly. Touching her with the ridiculous of excuses, Hasegawa thought Leanna knew about her brother's loan so he became bolder in taking advantage of her.

When Hasegawa touched her a*s and just winked at her...

Slap!

He was slapped in front of everyone at the store. Being publically humiliated, he rushed out of the store in anger. But he soon returned to Kevin's apartment with few of his gang members asking to pay back the cash that he owed. To alleviate his bruised ego, he trampled on Kevin as his sister watched.

Before Hasegawa came, Kevin told Leanna everything and made her promise to not interfere. However, seeing her good brother being treated worse than a dog, she could not stand back...

"Stop it! He... We... we will pay back the money, please give us some time..." Leanna bowed to Hasegawa.

"Heh, Ms. Leanna, I have been fair and friendly to your family. As a result, you, brother and sister mistook me as someone who you can push around. I am not some easy persimmon."

Hasegawa then ordered his gang members to beat down Kevin as he casually walked into the small apartment and comfortably sat on the couch, listening to the painful grunts of Kevin.

Unable to see her brother suffer such cruelty, Leanna rushed to Hasegawa...

"Please! Please let my brother go! I will do anything!"

"Ms. Leanna, I hope you understand the implication of the word 'anything'. If I was to feel disappointed again, a brutal beat down like this nothing compared to what's to come."

"...I ...I understand ...I will do anything..."

"I will stop for now, but your sincerity is yet to be proved. Meet me in room no. 2567 at the Regal Isle Hotel this evening.

"...I ... yes..." Leanna could say nothing but yes as she kept hearing Kevin's painful grunt.

"Fellas, that's it for now. Let's roll."

"Hasegawa, can't we get a little more time? we brothers made a bet on who could hit this wimp the most."

"Haha fellas, there will be more opportunities in the future. C'mon, lets hit a strip joint, I will foot the bill for everyone."

"Hahaha. Guys didn't I tell you, Manager Chojiro, knows how to take care of his men. Come, we will continue our bet the next time."

"Hahaha. Yeah, a strip club is a lot more."

[Thud]

The men that Hasegawa brought dropped Kevin down on the floor on his own bloodstains and just laughed their way out. Though the other people in the apartment complex watched none came to question Hasegawa and his men or help Kevin after they left.

Leanna told Casey to stay in the bedroom and carried her brother inside. She put him down on the couch and tended to his wounds with a wet cloth.

"What did you and Hasegawa talk inside the apartment?" asked Kevin despite his body aching all over.

"Its nothing, you don't need to worry about it."

The brother and sister did not talk anymore, as Leanna quietly cleaned the wounds on Kevin's face.

After she was done wiping the blood from his face, Leanna turned to put the dirty cloth away...

"Don't leave anywhere in the evening ...I ...I have somewhere to go. I want you to look after Casey..." though Leanna turned away and faced away from Kevin, her shivering body was hard to not notice.

Kevin, though he lacked the cunning of Hasegawa, he is a smart man, he put two and two together...

"Are you going to meet him in the evening?"

Leanna did not answer him back, but the silence told Kevin what he wanted to know...

Kevin did not question his sister anymore, he knew that she was put in this tough spot because of his idiotic actions. He quickly left the apartment and went in search of Hasegawa, Kevin decided that even if it kills him, he will not implicate his sister.

He went in search of Hasegawa to tell him to leave his sister alone and decided to bear the brunt of the loan sharks by himself.
