Chapter 26: The Sorceress

Jake stood in the middle of that crowd, restrained by the arms of Photis, as he members of the town gaped at his bare face. His sharp ears picked up on the murmurs and comments of the crowd.

Some were in awe of the way Jake seemed to control the kroaten, others were angry at the fact that the members of household of the manor seemed to be keeping such an invaluable system wielder from the public. From that statement other rumours began to spread, and Jake was quickly coming to a realization that what he did was reckless and very, very stupid.

He was in the middle of berating himself when one singular comment from the crowd caught his attention.

“Dimitri should know better,” It was an older woman who spoke, “Being system-less and all, never mind what those creatures do to our men in the woods.”
