25 Chapter 25

Two days had passed since Yue Ling and the others arrived. Each passing day without a cure for the disease,the patients were moving a thin line. Recently for some reason,they were getting better than they were before. This was rejuvenating but still not enough to make them to celebrate yet.

Han Li had been looking for Yi Zhoujan these past few days. There were no leads and nobody said anything about where he could be They were obviously hiding the truth because out of all of them,there had to be at least someone who knew about his whereabouts. It was also impossible for them to turn a blind eye if he was really missing.

Bingbing was now tagging alongside Han Li whenever he went to search. She was trying her best to be helpful whichever way she could be in that if she didn't follow Han Li,she joined the research team while doing a few basic things like getting the medicines or helping patients.

Yiren's job was usually managing the funds at the camp and providingwhat was needed when. The two siblings wondered why their father didn't want to be found.

Lu Ximei was still unaware of her family's situation. Whenever she called her children,they had to come up with a lie as to why none of them was around.

Lu Ximei was also Bingbing's boss and the girl had vanished from work suddenly. Suspiciously, Bingbing had refused to take leave before because she planned to get one later on and go for vacation. Despite owning the business, Lu Ximei had always been strict and hadn't given Bingbing special treatment. Her daughter always went to work and if she couldn't appear,she would file for a leave with a substantial reason. This time, Bingbing hadn't done that and her explanations didn't convince Lu Ximei.

Something was wrong because Bingbing was still responsible despite her happy go lucky attitude.

She would make sure to find out what was going on soon.

During these past few days, Lin Meilin's team also got a chance to see the patients and make reports and observations only. They weren't allowed to treat patients as this was one of the conditions behind not being selected and coming for the research.

Yue Ling's team was in charge of treatment and the job was easier than they thought it would be. They were following instructions from their Head of research who was a mysterious woman. They had never seen her face behind the mask but she looked young. Younger than some of them.

Luckily,her age wasn't a problem and with her guidance, things were under control at the camp. This made them more curious about the capable young lady.

Lehan had been at the military base most of the time helping out. He dropped by the camp sometimes but didn't take long because he had nothing to do there.

Today, Yue Ling was visiting the place where the only person who hadn't been affected lived. She was an 50 yr old lady who hadn't yet fallen sick despite the fact that most of her neighbors had died. Yue Ling remembered that this lady was a key to the solution. She was trying hard to make sure not to alter the past that much.

She was going there to find solutions.

"When are you leaving," Yiren asked his cousin.

"I'll be leaving by the afternoon," she replied.

"Who's going with you," he asked.

Yue Ling frowned a bit before replying,"I'm going alone."

Yiren sighed deeply. He wondered why Yue Ling seemed not to want to be recognized by others. Yue Ling wore a mask while meeting others and while checking on the patients,she asked to do it alone. Now,she wanted to go alone somewhere. He couldn't accept this because they were new to this place and their family has enemies. He couldn't take any risks.

"That won't do, go with someone,"he urged her.

Bingbing and Han Li who had just come back got a bit of the conversation.

"Should I go?," Bingbing asked.

She was the only one not doing anything important so she volunteered.

"You can't go too because you don't know this place," Yiren replied. He knew that Bingbing was capable of protecting Yue Ling because she was trained but the both of them were new to the place.

"I will go with her," a melodious male voice spoke.

Lehan had just suggested to accompany Yue Ling.

"Well, that's great," Yiren spoke. He trusted Lehan fully.

Bingbing also agreed Lehan was a better choice.

Meanwhile, Han Li wondered what was wrong with his boss. Lehan didn't bother about trivial things most of the time yet it seemed he was taking the initiative to get to know Yue Ling better. He also knew that for some reason, Yue Ling didn't want to get involved with his boss. This whole situation confused him.

Yue Ling felt conflicted by Lehan's behavior, the past few days,she had not properly talked to him which obviously stated her unwillingness to know him better or even become a friend. He obviously knew she didn't want to associate with him.

She didn't want to go with him but that was her only option for now.

Not long after,the two were leaving in a Jeep.

The place they were going to wasn't far.

"Yue Ling," Lehan called.

"Yes,"she replied curtly thinking about why the man couldn't stay silent till they arrived.

"How are you doing?,today" Lehan asked. He observed Yue Ling's angry face and smirked. This lady looked so cute trying to be fierce. It proved him further to tease her.

"I am fine," she replied.

He looked at her as she spoke. Yue Ling looked worn out because of working.

She was just as he remembered before when the aeroplane crashed. She still cared for others and forgot about herself.

"Have we met except that day when the plane crashed?" he asked her.

Yue Ling suddenly flinched after the question. She assumed he didn't remember her because he hadn't mentioned that incident ever since. They had also seen each other only once before.

She turned to look at Lehan who had a calm but curious look on his face.

He was curious about what made Yue Ling hate him. Maybe not hate but dislike. This wasn't something that just happened for no reason.
