3 Tasks

Due to her grumbling stomach, Ru Shi recalled that she hadn't eaten anything since the morning and it was already past 1:30 pm right now.

It was the perfect time for lunch which she decided was going to be in a noodle shop in the alley behind the mall. She had come here many times in her past life.

The shop building had two floors. The ground floor had the noodle shop while the upper floor was the place where the shop uncle and his nephew who he had adopted, lived together.

"Welcome! What would you like?"

The uncle greeted cheerfully. His eyes slit to form crescents as he politely pointed at the menu board hanging above.

"One chicken egg drop noodle soup and a can of coke."

Thankfully, they also sold beverages such as soft drinks and beer.

"Coming right up!!"

The uncle got busy with the cooking while Ru Shi started talking with the system who had returned.

[Host, the second option is the best. It has two rooms. One big and the other small. It has furnishings though you'll have to pay extra for it and the surroundings are clean and quite. The security is also good and the neighbours are an elderly couple. Not bad, I'll evaluate.]

Ru shi nodded as she replied to the system, 'You said I could cultivate in this world. Is it true?'

The system had told her back in the void that cultivating to strength the body and soul was possible even back on earth. Ru Shi would have been doubtful of that if she had not seen it herself.

[Yes host. But to start cultivating, you must upgrade the system to level 2 and for that you'll need 1000 points.]

The girl furrowed her brows, 'System, it's not that I don't want to upgrade you. You just haven't given me any task!' Her face yelled that she had been wronged.

[You do have missions! It's just that you didn't ask!]

"..." Ru Shi felt like smacking the thing as she sighed and asked for the tasks.

[For now you have three tasks and they're not time limited but I recommend you finish them as fast as you can. There will be more tasks in the future so piling them is not a good choice. Also, you can decline optional tasks however, some tasks are compulsory so you'll have to complete those by hook or by crook.]

Ru Shi nodded as she felt the system's seriousness.

[If you accept an optional task and fail there will be a punishment which will range from being mute for days to even body paralysis for a week. However, if you fail a main/compulsory task, you'll be struck by lightning or either hell fire will burn your soul. In other words, failure of a main missions leads to absolute obliteration of not only the body but also the soul.]

A shudder ran down her spine. A lightning strike will burn her to crisp while hell fire will torture her soul. One was worse than the other yet, she still felt excited at the thought of getting revenge with her own hands...

'What are the tasks?'

Ru Shi's snapped from her daze and asked. The system's robotic voice rang out:

'System, why is it that the last two have such high points but for the main one like studying you're giving me only 350?!' Ru Shi complained.

[Host, if with your IQ you still can't come first, I'd rather have chosen a pig for a host!]

"..." Ru Shi couldn't retort.

Thankfully, she was saved by the uncle who had broight her noodles and coke,

"Here is your order, enjoy!!"

Ru Shi's thanked the uncle and began eating with joy.

The soup was just like what she liked. Slurry and a bit of oil with correct amount of salt and properly minced meat!! She was in pure heaven currently.

'Ah wait, who's Su Wen?'

Ru Shi asked the system who face palmed, [He's your school mate. He's not in your class though. Su Wen is from class 3.]

Ru Shi stopped eating as she finally remembered. In her past life, Su Wen rose into fame when she was 20. The boy had become a famed singer as he sang his hit song, 'Sorry to Myself' and became a household name.

Yet later, his school life was revealed where it was known that he was continuously bullied and loan sharks had chased him fervently. He also lost his elderly aunt as her weak body couldn't take the pressure of life and reality anymore. That was also what inspired him to write the song, 'Sorry to Myself'.

Its about how he was sorry that he was a coward and couldn't protect his loved ones. He was sorry to the past him for not standing up and fighting back all the bullies who had hurt him. He was sorry that he didn't try when he should've.

The song won hearts and shredded souls but the boy, after publishing this song, left the limelight and roamed the world like a lost soul, with no further motive or encouragement.

"Su Wen... "

Ru Shi muttered as she gulped down the coke in a single shot.

"This time, I'll help you."

She paid for the noodles and coke, promising the uncle to come again next time. The uncle smiled and waved, sending her away to continue Her day.

"Dad, I'm back home."

Suddenly, from behind the uncle, a young voice sounded, "Ah, Rong! Welcome back. How was your day?"

The youth smiled as the two, uncle and nephew, entered the shop yet the boy couldn't help but glance at the girl who had walked out of sight.

"It was fine. The library was quite so I could study well. How about you, uncle?" The two chatted and went about their day while Ru Shi made her way to the apartment community to buy the apartment.
