Working for the Saints Hall

Sparticle is a relatively simple hyper geno art. It grants high bursts of speed but consumes stamina. The instantaneous speed would be very useful for dodging life threatening attacks.

Bian spent his time practicing sparticle and using vital point targeting to remember distant memories. He found out something amazing, the memories which seemed to blur whenever he used vital point targeting were getting strengthed.

"I also use vital point targeting during battle, I'll call this aspect mental point targeting."

The more he uses mental point targeting the better his overall memory but only of those which flashed by. To improve his memory he began thinking back to when he was still a baby as Dave. The stronger his memories get the more natural they are to access making it actual knowledge.

Bian rarely left his room or spoke to anyone just chatting a bit with his roommates. Still intrigued by mental point targeting he would spend the entire day in his mind, during the first three months he had compulsory classes and could not leave the campus.

Bai Yishan was on his way to teach the freshmen of this year, he remembered what professor Min had said. "Bian Manwei"

When he got to the classroom the background noise died out, everywhere became as silent as a graveyard. Satisfied with their attitudes he began the lecture, his eyes occasionally scanning the class, he found Bian Manwei in the first row of seats, eyes peeled and listening intently to every word being said.

'Why does he look so serious' Bai Yishan didn't know that Bian would use mental point targeting to review his lesson multiple times over.

After the lesson was over Bai Yishan called "Bian Manwei, follow after me"

Bian stood up and followed, the murmurs in the hall rose quickly.

Bai Yishan took Bian to his office. "I've heard a lot about you from professor Min. As long as you can pass this test you'll be eligible to work in saints hall."

Bian nodded his head. 'So his name is professor Min'

Bai Yishan sat him down, gave him writing materials and brought out a parchment.

"Begin!" Bai Yishan said, he was about leaving his office, going to run an errand or two when Bian called out.

"Professor Bai, I'm done"

Bai Yishan "..."

'So quickly?' He checked and cross checked the answer but it was correct.

Bai Yishan "how did you do it"

Bian Manwei "I used the pen you gave me to write down the translation"

Bai Yishan "..."

"Professor Bai, how much is the pay for working in saints hall" Bian asked innocently unaware that he was this close to being strangled to death.

With a sigh Bai Yishan replied "since you're still a student you'll be doing something similar to part time. You will be paid 10 million per month and given 2 A-class licenses, but don't look down on the Saints Hall, the connections you make will help even even when you become a demigod."

Bian was a little disappointed since he wouldn't be getting any S-class license, but peeked up when he remembered the benefits. He asked "professor Bai what work will I do"

Bai Yishan "You'll be brought in to translate different items and articles written in the ancient language of the alliance. I'll confirm you work during the first month and then the work load will increase with no need for confirmation once we can verify your authenticity."

Bian asked "professor Bai, before I go I have one more question."

Bai Yishan noticed his serious expression and told him to carry on.

"Actually I barely managed to pass the entrance exams, and the sanctuaries are so dangerous. I need a powerful geno art for attacking"

Bai Yishan "if that's your concern, there are many A-class geno --"

Bian cut him off abruptly "I don't need mediocre strength, I need something without equal."

Bai Yishan noticed he had taken the request to lightly he released the aura of a suppressor and said "that kind of power comes with danger, are you sure you're ready" a tinge of killing intent was released.

Bian nodded slowly, he was tired of failure.

Bai Yishan smiled and said "the ying yang blast is the most powerful asset you can add to your arsenal, master it and one punch will destroy a mountain from the inside. Beware of its usage lest you kill yourself."

Bai Yishan brought out the geno solution and transferred the hyper geno art to Bian, after warning him of the dangers once more and reminding him not to share it, he sent it him on his way.

Bai Yishan called professor Min

Professor Min spoke before Bai Yishan did "did he pass"

"10 seconds"

"What was that?" Professor Min didn't understand.

"He translated half a page in ten seconds" Bai Yishan said, his voice heavy.

"What!" If professor Min was drinking his coffee he would have spat it out in shock.

Professor Min seriously asked Bai Yishan "what do you think of him"

Bai Yishan "he's a good kid, determined too. He wanted a strong hyper geno art. I gave him the yang yang blast"

Professor Min "... Will he be alright?"

"Yes" Bai Yishan said with certainty. The look in Bian's eyes were like those of Bai Yishan many years ago.

...

Bian practice with the ying yang blast, he would focus on using yin energy, if he used yang energy at the wrong time he would cripple himself.

The days passed by in a blur, Bian would practice ying yang blast and sparticle during the day, and use mental point targeting at night. He had no free time as he would go to Bai Yishan's office to translate ancient documents at noon.

The number of qigongs were more than what was available, majority of them needed proper translation which they lacked. Practicing a qigong with mistakes almost always lead to death.

Bian would be tasked with different translations, of both old and new files. The saints hall were satisfied with his work and marked him as high priority. He could decide to work for the Saints Hall when he graduated instead of serving at the front lines.

"I need to start moving" about a month later Bian would regularly visit the training center to put sparticle into action. His skill proficiency with sparticle increased dramatically to the point of perfection. Whenever he got back he would use mental point targeting to review the use of sparticle over and over again.

The three months of compulsory education were almost over. One faithful day as Bian came back from a translation session he stopped at the cafeteria for lunch. He saw Han Yan sitting in the cafeteria as she chatted away and ate with some friends.

She saw him and waved with a smile. 'Beautiful' thought Bian as he waved back not looking where he was going. He ran into a worker who was delivering some squid.

CRASH

"I am so sorry" Bian spoke up apologetically.

"Sorry ain't gonna cut it, the customers on table seven are gonna be furious" the waiter said.

"Should I pay for the damages" Bian now had some money after working for saints hall, he wouldn't shy away from responsibilities.

The waiter said to him "if you really wanna help, go in the freezer room at the back, the last row at the far back on the top shelf, get some fresh squid from there." He gestured for Bian to carry along while he cleaned up the mess.

In the freezer room Bian began to feel a chill. "It's freezing in here" his breath left cold smoke in the air. He summoned a beast soul blanket, covered himself and scurried along to the back.

The further he went the colder it got, he beast soul blanket kept him warm a bit. When he got to the shelf he was surprised to find Xue Wen beside it meditating there, he seemed to be practicing jadeskin. Xue Wen sensed Bian's gaze and opened his eye. He nodded his head as a greeting and continued his cultivation.

Bian got the squid and returned back to the waiter, Han Yan had already left the cafeteria.

"I should have collected her number" Bian lamented as he made his way out having lost his appetite.
