Chapter 109: Ant farm.

As Qin Qianyu and Wú Haodong were coming out of that room, Liu Bing was being led to the chairman's office by the hospital director.

Ma Chen walked with into the office but was stopped by the hospital director.

"Hey Lackey, Chairman Song only wants to see her. Wait your sorry arse out here."

" . . . "

Ma Chen said nothing. Liu Bing however had plenty to say but held back a little as she responded on Ma Chen's behalf.

"Oh is that right? . . I can see now why the hospital's staff are the way they are. The soldiers will always reflect their general."

"Huh?"

The hospital director wasn't expecting Liu Bing to be annoyed and retort in such away.

Liu Bing was very upset at how the director dropped his mask since they were close to the chairman's office.

"Does he think the hospital's chairman is god or something?"

She complained in her heart. Liu Bing then lightly pats Ma Chen's arm then turned to the hospital director and uttered out in annoyance,

"Mr Ma, this last minute meet and greet is now cancelled, so let's head to our next meeting at Wing Law."

She then turned to walk away with Ma Chen at her side.

The director started panicking at that point, he was sure that Elder Song had heard the young lady.

Soon the chairman's door opened up and a small commotion took place.

An old man came out and berated the director and fired him on the spot.

"Miss, please wait, this misunderstanding cause by the director is totally my fault, is there anything else I can do so that this can be rectified?"

Song Liwei had switched to his "granddad" face and voice.

"No, . . Good day Mr Song."

Liu Bing says as she and Ma Chen walked away and entered the elevator.

Ma Chen and Liu Bing were both surprised at first when they saw that the chairman of the hospital was Song Liwei.

They both understood how the staff weren't reprimanded when the videos were made public via their social media when they realised that the entire hospital was Song owned and operated.

"This Song family is truly disgusting."

"Mhm, . . Miss Liu."

"Yes?"

"Thank you."

" . . . "

Liu Bing was taken aback by Ma Chen's smile as he thanked her. Ma Chen knew that she was sticking up for him when she said what she said to the hospital director and to Song Liwei.

Liu Bing didn't know where to look after that and just fiddled inside her handbag as she nodded and mumbled.

"It's fine, I did nothing worth thanking me for."

"Haha, you did plenty."

" . . . "

The pair exited the elevator and headed off in another direction.

Meanwhile, Song Liwei was having a tantrum inside his office. He was throwing anything not bolted down or too heavy at the director.

"The hell goes through that thick arse head of yours!? You only had one job to do and that was to bring the people from Véridique up here to meet with me! . . And you managed to screw even that up!? . . Walking! That's all you had to fucking do! . . WALK!"

" . . . "

"Uncle, am . . Am I still fired?"

"FUCK OFF!"

Meanwhile, in another part of the city.

Wu Yihuan was taken to a private hospital by Lin Xie. When she was admitted the doctors there did routine checks on her and were soon startled to find that she had been placed in a chemically induced coma.

"Looks like someone didn't want her to wake up,"

Lin Xie pursed his lips when he heard that. With what Wú Haodong had told him about Xiong Jianguo and how Tang Huiyang of TNT seemed to be involved in all of this, told him that it was all related to "him"

"You really hate Elder Wú that much you'd even plot against his family?"

Lin Xie had misunderstood the situation. It actually had nothing to do with Tang Huiyang but Tang Mu.

He got the doctors to do it so that she wouldn't be able to wake up and mess up his plan. By the time she could do anything about it, no one would care or there would be nothing that she could do to change the course that he had laid out.

Lin Xie sent a message to Wú Haodong about the discovery and what he should do in the interim.

At that time, the pair and their cat had just reached Siphong Kham's village.

She didn't stick around though, she just stealthy moved through the village to make sure that nothing had happened while she was gone.

After making sure it was fine, the trio carried on their journey back across the border.

A few hours later, the trio made it back to the mainland.

"Saan watch him for a while, make sure his old man perv tactics stay in his head."

"Heh! . . So that's how it is!? . . You can look but I can't?"

"Mhm . . Because even though I look this fine, I'm 15!"

Cough, cough,

"Yes, . . yes you are."

"Actually, I wonder how old his body's age is? Guess we'll find out at the hospital."

Qin Qianyu wondered. She then went to the tree she had buried her bag and changed clothes.

"There's a village close to here, shall we go look for lodging there?"

Qin Qianyu called out from behind a tree.

When she heard no reply, she poked her head around the tree only to see Wú Haodong on his phone frowning.

The message that Lin Xie had sent him finally came through. He was lost in though about what to do.

He also realised that Lin Xie misunderstood the situation and relationship between him and Wu Yihuan.

Qin Qianyu had finished changing clothes and enquired to his thoughts.

"It's to do with your friend, it seems that the hospital had chemically induced her to stay in a coma. The doctors say that it could affect her mind and memory."

"In what way?"

"If she wakes up and really thinks that she's my relative and she finds out that none of it is real, the whole ordeal could cause her to suffer from it if she hasn't succumbed to some long term effects mentally.

"What are the chances of that happening?"

"They've said there's a 55% chance of it happening."

"I have to go, I might be able to do something."

"Mhm, I'll stay here and coordinate and keep an eye on this cat. Make the arrangements for pick up in the morning before you go and I'll follow to the capital after I make sure he's on the AAC transport for you."

"Okay, oh and here, this might come in handy,"

Qin Qianyu says and tossed him the mask that the fake Grandpa Wú was wearing.

Wú Haodong held up the fleshy thin mask of his old face and pursed his lips,

"Haha! Why the sour look? Seems like you've gotten use to your newer face."

Qin Qianyu quipped aloud as she observed Wú Haodong's facial muscles twitch.

"You had this on you the entire time?"

"Mhm, it was on the fake Grandpa Wú that Xiong Jianguo had used in his scheme."

"You little . ."

"Blessing? . . I know, I know. Heh! Didn't I tell you I'd sort you out when we make it back to the mainland? . . There you go."

" . . . "

Wú Haodong opened it up and was about to try it on,

"Wait! . . "

"What? . . What's wrong?"

"Um . . The guy died wearing it, so, you might want to give it a wash."

" . . . "

Qin Qianyu left it at that. She got on her phone and made the arrangements for Bai Saan. Wú Haodong was doing the same, he had booked tickets for himself to fly out with Bai Saan.

"Xiaoyu, I think it's best to let Mingchun know about all this."

"Oh? . . "

"She was Xiao Yixuan's mentor when she was serving. The pair were very close, it could help her memory a bit. What do you think?"

Qin Qianyu thought for awhile,

"Ah, . . mhm, although I feel like Wu Yihuan would hate me for this, I too feel that it's the right thing to do."

Wú Haodong nodded and called Yang Mingchun.

"Twice in one year? . . Are you having a late life crisis?"

" . . . "

"Heh! . . Young man, why call if you're not going to speak."

Cough!

"Mingchun, do you know about Xiao Yixuan?"

"Mhm, she was an excellent student and commander. Her presence will be sorely missed."

"Oh . . So even you don't know?"

"Old man, what's with the riddles? . . Speak plainly."

"Xiao Yixuan is still alive."

"It's not funny to mock the living with the dead, keep it up and I'll crush you."

" . . . "

"Tsk! . . Since when have I ever done such a thing? . . "

" . . . "

"You're telling me the truth?"

"Mhm, . . It's a bit of a story so listen well."

Wú Haodong explained the circumstances that led to Xiao Yixuan "dying" and then how she was starting her new life as Wu Yihuan.

Wú Haodong filled her in on all the details to this point.

"You have a great disciple you know that."

"Mhm, I'm truly lucky, she even cured me of the radiation poisoning which is why I'm sure she'll be able to help Wu Yihuan."

"I understand. So what do you need from me?"

"Since you're my friend, I want you to visit Wu Yihuan on my behalf along with Xiaoyu as the Phantom Fox."

Wú Haodong explained that Qin Qianyu hoped with the both of them there, it would help with her memory and not make her confused or worse.

Yang Mingchun agreed and told them that she'd wait at the airport for her to arrive.

The call ended and Wú Haodong filled Qin Qianyu in on his and Yang Mingchun's conversation.

"Okay I'll head off now, I'll see you tomorrow then, call me with your itinerary, if I'm free I'll pick you up."

"Mhm, be safe, and good luck."

"You too, till tomorrow then."

Qin Qianyu gave Bai Saan a big cuddle and told him to behave. He raised his paw letting her know that he understood.

Qin Qianyu then used shadowless steps and headed straight to the airport.

Wú Haodong looked to Bai Saan and sighed. With Qin Qianyu gone he felt a little lonely. He scratched behind Bai Saan's ear and walked in a certain direction.

After some time, Wú Haodong and Bai Saan came across a cabin. It was rundown and overgrown with creeper vines and other such foliage.

He walked behind it where a dried up well sat. He opened the covering and jumped down to the bottom after telling Saan to wait for him.

At the bottom of the well there was an opening that led to a large chamber. Inside sat a bed a chest and a few other items.

This was once a secret Ant nest of an Ant farm Wú Haodong had destroyed long ago when he was still active in the four winds.

Wú Haodong absolutely abhorred Ant farms and their farmers. Many gangs had set up farms and targeted poor families, runaways and such.

They would make the kids do any and everything the "Queen" ant wanted.

He had rescued many children from this Ant farm back then and this secret chamber was where the gang hid most of their "good wares" as they called them. He had turned this into a safe house of sorts for when he had to cross the border.

After his master died, Wú Haodong would take on all the difficult missions the government had. He didn't do it because of a sense of duty or heroism, he wanted to leave behind some good in the world before he passed on, it was all because he didn't know when the radiation would finally take him.

But, now, now what was he supposed to do. He wasn't suffering from the debilitating effects of the radiation anymore. He even grew younger as a result of Qin Qianyu's medicine.

Ever since he woke to Qin Qianyu eye mauling his goods, he hadn't sat down to digest all this properly. But being in this room, alone with his thoughts and reminiscing of days gone by, triggered a strange sensation in him.

It took him awhile but he soon identified it as loss. With his illness gone, and with his youth returned, he was at a complete loss as to what he should do with his life.

Wú Haodong sat on the bed after taking off the ridiculous clothes he had taxed from that gang member in Laos, lost in thought over everything.

He picked up the thin mask and looked at it in contemplation.

"Master, did you know that this would happen? Is this the reason you drilled into me over and over to wait for Xiaoyu?"

"Every time we trained, you'd tell me how it's my duty to protect her, but, since I've met her, she's done nothing but protect me. What am I supposed to do?"

By all rights he should have died by now, he had drilled into Qin Qianyu all of the martial skills he could to date.

There was still plenty more to learn but, that won't take long. "Then what?" That was the question that currently plagued his mind.

Does he go off and "die" then come back as a long lost relative, or a new person completely.

Did it mean that he'd have to sever all of his relationships including that with Qin Qianyu and start from zero.

Wú Haodong sighed heavily.

He collected his thoughts and got busy. He washed the mask out and then himself as the mask dried he changed into the spare clothes he had stowed away there.

Then he wore the mask. He took a look in the mirror and saw the person he was use to seeing.

He nodded to himself and after collecting a few items from that room he left the same way he came.

He and Bai Saan went back to the edge of the forest to wait out the time till AAC came to collect them.
